They do have lots of energy but let me tell you this, they are ASTOUNDINGLY smart. At least mine was. I have never met another dog that was as curious as him. You could notice in his gaze all the time he was taking info in, and how he moved his head and his ears when something picked his interest. He learned how to open every single door in our house in a week. From inside or outside any room. He learned tricks and routines super fast and he understood whatever you said as well. They CAN be a little roudy when training them. Yet he was always such a sweet careful boy around children.

They aren't the kinda dog you can leave alone when you go to work are they? I want one but i'd be living home alone so it would be difficult with a full time job. Also ideal to live by a big field/countryside to let him run. Why is it they are so rare? Here in England, i've never seen one to stroke, only in passing when in a car.

I believe it on the opening doors thing. They also learn where the snacks are really fast too...my grandma had to put the pig ears in the pantry with a special lock to keep her Dalmatians from getting at them. Of course, that only meant that the dogs would pout and whine until dinner came by the door. XD They're real characters.

One of the most popular breeds in the world? People always act so surprised when they see my 7 yr. old dalmatian! Man, if I had a dollar for every time someone asked "where's the other hundred?". I'd be rich. Warning to anyone who plans on getting one of these dogs: they are a HANDFUL. We got ours as our first dog and boy, was that a mistake. She's a good girl but we couldn't keep up with all of her energy when she was little! She's perfectly chill now that she's all grown up, but that took around 4 years. They have sooooo much energy.

I can't tell you all the smiles, waves, and picture snapping. She was the sweetest, and loved kids. Everyone loved her. I actually have a small curio in my house with all their urns. I will never stop missing them.

Unless you understand this breed and their need for activity, athleticism, stimulation and attachment then I wouldn’t recommend. If you are wanting a clean, beautiful, loyal, and constant companion... to go jogging, kayaking, camping, swimming, and basically be with you 24/7 then welcome to Dals. It takes total commitment and what you get back from them can’t be measured. They require SPAcE and room to move. They want to go over everywhere with you. They memorize your routines... can be very stubborn and demanding. Such a beautiful and majestic dog... watching them run is poetry in motion. They shed everywhere... all the time and they are large, pure muscle. Their tails are like whips and they love to lick.... Buy from a responsible Breeder. KNOW their DNA, ancestry and health records.

I just made an observation of what happens when I walk my dogs. I had no idea this would happen before I ever owned a Dalmatian. You replied to another person saying don’t buy, adopt. And I said Dalmatians are very rare in some places and to find one to adopt from a shelter would be very rare, as well. So, in otherwords, seeing I have to spell it out for you, it’s easier to get a Dalmatian from a breeder than find one in a shelter. Got it?

I have owned 3 of them over the past 35 years. These dogs are VERY high energy and NEVER tire. 3 walks a day won't do it. They need to run. And you can't leave them home alone for 8 or 10 a day. If they aren't kept busy they will find ways to busy themselves...and you won't like it. They are very smart dogs and very independent thinkers. If you are considering one understand that you must spend a lot of time with them. OH, and BTW, they do require a special diet.

Only here because I misses my Dalmatians. Had them when I was a kid, a best friend a child would ever need. Extremely energetic, wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wants those dogs that'll stay quiet & sleep all day. Good hunting instincts too, mine killed birds & cats for fun. I had a neighbour who had all of their cats went missing, so yeah... Don't know if I raise them right, they love to howl when they are home alone. Always wanted to hang out with me. If I left the gate open, they won't run away. No need for leashes, will follow me just fine. But I'll still need a leash when I go outside so people won't panic. My life just isn't the same without them. I miss spending my day outside jogging & playing fetch with them. Can't seem to find any breeders for them anymore. People just said I'd have to import them & that'll cost a massive fortune for 1 dog so maybe when I'm rich enough, so maybe like when I'm old & retired, but I'd be too old & too near dead to enjoy their company...

Dalmations are so so cute. my customer has one named Oreo. Oreo wont stop slobbering all over my face when I go there to work. In fact I cant work when he's around. When I take oreo for a walk, its as if he's taking me for a walk because he pulls me all over. Oreo is too strong and very muscular. I love him so much. Dalmations love attention but they're a handful

I found a rescue Dalmatin through "ein Zuhause fuer Hunde gesucht# the dog was in france. 10 years, very sweet. geginning of arthrosis, I send my foto from the passport, everthing was clear, the trappo ordert. Then i bought many things several beds.feeding pots, ordert spezial fued, Medizin for Arthrosis and to put weight on, and then I got a message, dog has snapped after a child and I got on messanger an info, cant have the dog. I could not even call them by telefon, the did not answe. A rescue dog, how is not eating, has maybe pain, is lying on a cold floor, it is not so surprising

Did you get the dalmations? Yeah, a flat may be okay but a little small, which means he'll need lots more exercise and so is there a field/countryside near by? Will you leave him during the day for work and is anyone else at home? I don't have one but these are the things they are saying. I want one but i'm living with my parents at the mo so i'd probs end up having a flat too or an house with an house mate. So i'm interested in hearing how it's going for you.

Most of what is said in this video is generic to all dogs, we started with a puppy girl, rehomed an older boy later and went on to have a litter of which 20% were deaf (both parents have full hearing). Both of the deaf puppies have learnt sign language and ironically one is a with a multi lingual family! We have regular meet ups with those that live nearby. They are definitely for active people, you can have a days rest but then they get restless. Ours get 6KM runs nearly every day, on the weekend this can extend to 14KM (they start slowing at 10KM) - diet is critical to give what they need for this active lifestyle BUT you also need to be wary of items that flare their skin conditions (Dally Rash). They are very cuddly at night as the short hair means they get cold easily. No mention of the Dally Smile either - it's hilarious (see Rupert the Super-Smiley Dalmatian)
