I searched but BHU doesn't offer Bsc.Biotechnology as it was given on their website and neither DU offers Bsc.Biotechnology, there are other life science courses in DU and lastly jnu also doesn't offer undergraduate biotechnology course. They offer masters course in biotechnology, you too can check it out.

Even many universities in South India doesn't offer undergraduate biotechnology course, they only give MSc.Biotechnology. Institutions like SRM Chennai, Chandigarh University and LPU offer Bsc.Biotechnology and they hold a good name in this where as SRM & CU are one of the best private biotechnology college in India.

@@archiesoni Hii, For MAHE Manipal, there is an entrance exam called ENAT, forms will be out in January, Exam will be held in March and April, based on cutoff marks, and your score you will be called because seats are very limited. There might be an interview and then you will get admission.

Hii, for Manipal, you need to clear the ENAT exam of Manipal. You need to fill up the form which usually is out in the month of January (exact date and month, you can confirm from the college website). Then the examination will be online, may be in the month of April. Then according to your performance and rank and avaibility, you will be called or informed for admission. Well good colleges, there are pretty good biotechnology colleges in Bangalore, Mumbai, Vellore, etc. During my graduation days Manipal was the best one for Biotechnology and I guess even today it is....like if you ask me any day according to my personal experience I will always say it's the best, in terms of all aspect.😊👍 Hope the answer works for you. All the best.

Mathematics as a subject is there in the 1st year of BSc Biotechnology and there are various mathematical calculations involved in the subject of Biotechnology. 3rd year of BSc Biotechnology has a subject Biomedical engineering, it has a lot of maths involved. In MSc there are mathematical calculations and the subject of Bioinformatics involves lil maths and computers.

Hey, for Btech Biotechnology, sit for the IIT and AIEEE and state engineering exams, once you get the rank and score, go for further councelling, and then check the reputation of that govt college in case of Biotechnology and their placement scenarios and all. Hope this works all the best👍

I have one question, My daughter completed plus 12 (Bi.P.C) now she is planning to join Biotechnology and she is very much interested in MAHE Manipal not in other colleges, but problem is in MAHE Bi.P.C students are not eligible for BTech Biotech hence we have option of BSc Biotech. Since you mentioned about your projects and also studied at same university. Did you do BTech Biotech ? is BSc biotech good at MAHE, Manipal ? Hello, thankyou for the acknowledgment and the appreciation. Yes I did Bsc in Biotechnology from manipal. Manipal is a world in itself. It's a lifetime experience of studying at MAHE Manipal. It has excellent infrastructure, well equipped laboratories, Asia's largest medical library, single, double occupancy hostels, and anything and everything which a person can imagine in terms of lavish and comfortable education. Biotechnology is an emerging field. Bsc biotech and Btech biotech are totally different things. Bsc biotechnology is a graduation program, where people with physics, chemistry, biology, and optional mathematics as their subject in +2, can opt for it. It is totally research driven. In BSc biotechnology , you have to study all the subjects like, molecular biology, which deals with the structure and functions and much much detailed orientation of DNA, RNA and things like these. This is the basic and the most important and the toughest of all the subject of biotechnology. And this subject can make a person winner or a looser at the end of day, if he or she is opting for bsc biotechnology. Then there are more subjects like cell biology, plant biology, plant biotechnology, genetics, anatomy (including dissection), physiology, biochemistry (biochemistry is an important and yet another tough subject), microbiology, biomedical engineering(scoring subject,yet detailed and includes engineering practicals, including good knowledge of mathematics), statistics, biophysics, physics, chemistry, biology. So these are the subjects of BSc Biotechnology, and after completing this course you will be a graduate in biotechnology and just being a graduate doesn't make a person eligible for good jobs, either in company or labs. Only technician type jobs will be available in case of being just a graduate. So you will have to pursue Masters in biotechnology for sure to work in good Biotechnology companies, at good position, both in India and Abroad. MSc Biotechnology, is an expanded version of BSc Biotechnology. You will have to choose a specialisation and accordingly you will have to study that subject in depth. There will be enough practicals in both BSc and MSc and dissections too. There will be projects, research participation, thesis writing and things associated. Only after MSc you will be in a position to work in a company, and in case you wish to enter academics, you will have to pursue PHD, by appearing in the NET exam or direct entrance of Universities. In case of direct entrance in Universities, you will first have to work as JRFs and then a PHD student. An average Biotechnology PHD completion duration is 7-10 years. After which or during which you can simultaneously teach in the college where you are doing your PHD and you will be payed stipend during the course. If you will pursue PHD after completing NET stipend amount will be much much more rather than by direct entrance exam. After PHD you can apply in colleges for the post of professor and become one in case of vacancy. You can apply in various colleges, not only in biotech, but nano tech, virology, microbiology, and all the subjects you studied in biotech. So chances of getting a good job in academics is high. Now coming on to the B-tech in biotechnology, B-tech is engineering, and no engineering can be done without having Mathematics in +2. After doing B-tech in biotechnology, one becomes a Biotechnology engineer. He or she will be placed in companies which make equipments, used in Biotechnology labs, and machines like MRI machine, X ray machines, like all the medical usage devices. They can be placed in some good companies dealing with the manufacture of healthcare machines, dentistry machines etc. This is not a research field. People can make a career in academics after pursuing M- tech , PHD. Hope my answer works for you. In case of any doubt please ask. Rest Manipal is extremely good any day, and decision should be according to the subject and interest in studying that subject. All d best to your daughter😊👍

In Hyderabad, I know of Central University Hyderabad, which offers MSc Biotechnology which is the best. But for BSc Biotechnology go for MAHE Manipal or VIT Vellore.

If you can memorise well, you will excel here as well. Because there is a lot and a lot of understanding of the concept required in this field along with the super power of memorising. Intelligence+ memorising capacity can even make you a topper in this field. And if you have genuine interest in this subject you can do wonders in research and add some value to the existing research going on.

Hi Jayanthi, happy to know that my video is helpful to you. You asked about the two universities. See, both of them are good. Being an alumni of Manipal, I can tell you more about manipal than VIT. Manipal first of all is a university town, so studying there is like you live at a place which has only students, and colleges, and hostels, and things required by the students. The entire university town has been designed for the students. Manipal has great infrastructure, and single and double occupancy hostels are available.( For me hostel is a great factor beside studies cause at the end of the day you need a calm environment for self study). School of life science has great professors, they are all highly educated and are a part of numerous on going research in the department. Infrastructure of School of life sciences is good, labs are very very well equipped. You will never fall short of any materials to carry on practicals, researches. Added advantage is, school of life sciences has it's own animal house too, and as the university has Asia's largest medical library, so all the reference books, research articles are available easily. If a person is really interested in studying biotechnology, he/she will never fall short of resources here, be it any form, rest is all on the student, how much effort he or she puts. Self study and hard work is required to excel. Regarding VIT's infrastructure and studies you can consult any pass out student or visit their official online site, compare the details for yourself and then take a decision which suits you the best. @@SatyamCreations25 thank you for your reply...do you think that the 2 streams differ much?... One time I met one person who demonstrate how to use the anaesthesia workstation and I just asked him what he studied to get a job like that and he said that he studied biotechnology.. at that time I wasn't sure how...as I thought the subject relates more to biology ....so that means there is a subject about machine use and application also? Please don't mind I asked too many 🙂

The technological part, the machines usage, functioning, coding, bioinformatics part and other technical things may be the part of B-tech Biotechnology . But BSc Doesn't include machine functioning n all, it has lab works, working on samples, DNA segregation, PCRs, Antibiotic testing, more of medical side oriented course program, with focus on research techniques and technologies.

That you can google and find out the list right? It's mostly like MAHE Manipal, VIT Vellore these are considered best for biotechnology. For PHD you will have to apply as per your interest in any topic of research in the concerned university

You will have to apply in the college, whenever the form comes out.

It was really helpful mam , but we are still confused 😕 as we have completed our HSC in pandemic and we were going to pursue bsc in biotechnology,and many are saying that this field not have more scope . On the other hand about b pharma same in that, we should pursue masters for better opportunities. Please help us 😕

What are your subjects in HSC, if you have mathematics also along with PCB then you can even opt for Btech from a good college with good placement history to avoid any unwanted struggles in life.

Great video. My niece wants to take up this course as she is passionate about it. She got selected in VIT Vellor for MSC (integrated) Biotechnology course. ANy idea if it is a good college for this course? also she did Biology, Physics and Chemistry in +2 so she is worried to take up Btech Biotech bcoz of maths….will that be a challenge? Her plan is to study aborad post MSC….Thanks again….

Hii, VIT VELLORE, is a reputed institution, good for Bsc, MSc Biotechnology, as I have few friends , who studied from there and they say so. They got placed after MSc Biotechnology from VIT which is a good thing. Without Mathematics, do they allow BTech?? If yes, then it would be a challenge only in case of Mathematics, because it will be taught and there will be chapters like Differentiation, Integration, and such topics which are actually the syllabus of class 12th mathematics. No, people with just Bsc in Biotechnology do not get jobs, the only and mostly they get jobs of a lab technician. Go for Btech, from a good college, then you will get good placements

Thankyou, I am happy the video was useful to you. If you want to pursue MSc from Central Universities or IITs, then prepare for IIT JAM exam. This exam has a syllabus of entire Biotechnology and is not that easy. Get previous years papers. If you want to do it from private college, then target colleges of Bangalore, Manipal, VIT etc. You can pursue it from AIIMS too, they have courses with similar or different name, and has a seperate exam too. You can even do it from abroad from Germany. For that choose the college, apply, submit research work, face interviews and then get admission.

Hii, I am from MAHE Manipal, Karnataka. Bangalore has many colleges, some good missionary colleges. Please Google the List. I know about Mount Carmel College, being good.

Yes, boards marks are good enough. But you will have to clear their entrance exam, ENAT, which is held in the month of April I guess, and the forms will be out in january. If you clear this exam you will get a score and a call for admission as per the cutoff.
