That "stinkin' badges" line originated from the 1948 movie The Treasure of the Sierra Madre starring Humphrey Bogart and Walter Huston. Great western and just a great movie even if you don't like that genre. It won three Academy Awards including Best Director. Then Mel Brooks referenced it again in Blazing Saddles.
