I'm a Greek man and my dad was born in New York City and lived there for the first years of his life and even has citizenship, because my grandparents immigrated and lived in the US for a small period during the 70s. When they returned back home in Greece, they brought a lot of American influence into our family, so I grew up with heavy American influence and a love for American culture during my life.

Most Americans alive today have grown up in circumstances where people from different backgrounds took part in their daily life. This is likely the case with other large countries, too, like Canada, Brazil, Russia, China, India, and perhaps Australia.

For people outside the US curious about Rhode Island, the island got it's name changed to Aquidneck Island. It was its own colony until it got merged with the Providence Plantations (which make up mode of the land). The state's full name is the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. Also it's kind of a running joke that everyone hates Rhode Island. It was founded by a guy who got exiled from Massachusetts. In 1643, a bunch colonies were coming together to defend against the Dutch and resolve internal disputes; Rhode Island applied to join and was unanimously rejected...even with the fear of war over people's heads. Even though it was the first American colony to declare independence from the British, one of the delegates it had sent to a past congress was a British spy. Later, Rhode Island was the last of the 13 colonies to ratify the Constitution. When our first president George Washington did a tour around the country to celebrate his win, he refused to visit Rhode Island. In the 1840s, Rhode Island had a mini-Civil War where this guy declared himself governor, started losing, and then started recruiting people from New York. Everybody hates Rhode Island.

Detroit and Flint might have hit hard times but they don't represent the state of Michigan as a whole. We have craft beer brewing, tourism, natural resources, nature as a whole (lakes, forests, national/state parks, etc.) in addition to the auto industry. Also, Grand Rapids is one of the fastest growing cities in the country with one of the fastest growing job markets. And despite what people might think, downtown Detroit is actually making a comeback with a boom in businesses relocating there, all 4 major sports teams actually being in the city (instead of Pontiac or Auburn Hills), and a massive influx of recent college grads coming to the area.. Michigan might have had a rough decade or so, but it is far from a desolate wasteland.

I am so glad you actually put effort into the summary for Louisiana. I swear, you have legitimately the best reaction to it, every other video that I've seen will say one of three words. French, Crawfish, or Shrimp. Weird enough that a good minority of us don't even like shrimp. Nobody cares to say Swamp? I think the Cajun and Creole feud is interesting. Luckily that debate had died down in the last decade due to food networks going to New Orleans for our food. I think they should try both, because throwing a tomato in everything is absurd, but I digress. I guess it just depends on your taste

It sounds like Norteno Mexican music with a polka beat and an accordion!
