Why do people still hate Malenia lol. There are more unfair bosses in dlc. Malenia has waterfowl and heal but she doesn't have any poise. She gets staggered every or every other Jump heavy attack. You can literally stun lock her.

Unfortunately it's not, doesn't look like it. Placi actually has lightning blades appearing on each of his fingers, also his hands have a particular exterior to them, they're thin and made of stones and scales, but her's is just a regular dragon claw incantation, simply followed by a lightning explosion. If you wanted a nerd's take on this🤓.

I love Florissax. She buffs me, debuffs our enemies, and calls me her ‘Noble Lord’.

I used the bigmouth imp against Midra just to see what it was capable of and was not expecting him to just solo the boss. I thought the imp was just another meme summon.

@@Raptchur there's a very obvious priority system where people don't care for what weapons and items are in the game - but they will care about the bosses because those are much bigger surprises.

Mimic tear got even more broken now that you can just equip the golden vow item to your hotbar letting it infinitely use it alongside the raw meat dumplings, buffing and healing itself on literally any build

And on a faith build you can give it erdtree heal for a 40% heal to a mimic tear and a 100% heal to the player because the aoe is larger than many arenas and whenever the mimic heals he’s at low hp like 20% so he spams erdtree heal

I laughed out loud at the Malenia vs bigmouth imp clip, in the middle of my work shift

I think spirit ashes were a cool idea, especially if you’re an offline player. I also did love arena fights with summons; the chaos was worth it for a while lol

I love using different spirit ashes for different fights but great shield spirit ashes shut down a lot of bosses, and if you use heal from afar and golden bow they become near unstoppable. so if any of you are struggling/want to try something different from tiche or mimic, give them a shot.

​@@brandinicole1372On the contrary, they absolutely threw the Gaius fight for me. Gaius has a lot of strafing attacks that go around shields and they drop or break their guard a lot. When they aren't blocking their health is absolutely pathetic. 4/5 of mine were dead within a minute.

Taylew is the best for the final boss I'd imagine, he'll tank like a motherfucker and as the video stated, he gets huge value off heals. Most every other summon will fold to his damage and stagger.

Distortion2 basically solo'd Radahn with taylew in his summon only playthrough. Taylew is the best summon hands down.

Lhutel is still my go to. I love how she teleports around instead of running, which is cool to look at and it also let's her survive for a long time since so many attacks will miss when she's invisible

Not aggressive enough. She just teleports around, raising her shield, and occasionally throws her spear, and maybe goes in to stab a few times. The damage per hit is higher than most ashes, but I don't think it makes up for the downsides.

@@deaddrop3772 The biggest thing ashes do is divert boss attention. They don't increase boss health when summoned, so they don't need to do as much damage, they need to survive, which she does with style

There are a few like that which suck for mages as the summon constantly tries to get back to you which draws boss to you. Irritating. Mimic for casters can be pretty dumb unfortunateky so good to have some new aggressive summons from DLC.

Lhutel is alright, but I find myself going with the Dungeater Pupper more often. Super aggressive, bleed, good stance pressure and Shriek of Milos makes enemies take more damage. He can pretty much solo some bosses.

Distorition2 did a summon only challenge run just a bit ago, and Taylew is basically the grand champ. easily solos basically anything if you have healing the sisters actually performed a lot worse then you'd think, their overall damage was actually pretty subpar when fighting alone

Btw the golem solidly solos any and all bosses since you now have heal from afar. Its one of the only summons with high defenses but lower health meaning there is basically no chance of it suddenly dying in a damage burst.

We have an altar of grand dragon communion in the dlc, maybe we were supposed to get the lightning dragon claw from beating the ancient lightning dragon before bayle, but they didn’t want to give lightning to dragon communion builds so it could stay with dragon cult :/

You technically already have access to lightning if you are doing a dragon communion build. Honed Bolt and Lightning spear to name a few. PERSONALLY I think they refrained from giving it to us because of Bayle's Flame Lightning incantation (it would overlap in animation and function).

Really cool video! I appreciate you taking a look at these cause I was curious about how the new ashes were, but couldn't find many places to use them at this point, lol.

On my first run of the DLC, I saw the Bigmouth Imp enemy and thought they were hilarious. I was really hoping to find a Bigmouth Imp Head to wear as a meme. I got so excited when I found the spirt ash, I just had to try it out. I don't normally use summons but have never been opposed to using them every now and then. This guy is awesome! I was using the Carian Thrusting Shield and heavy armor so this was the perfect summon for me. We had such great synergy because I frontlined and kept the enemy aggro, while he was my backrow that suppressed the boss with cannon fire. Felt like a squad based RPG at that point haha. Idk if it's just luck but I swear they always fire at exactly the right moment, too. I watched someone beat the final boss with just the Golem ash, so that one might be funny to try out

And while I can understand if someone finds ashes boring in general, I’ve really turned around on them. Using more niche or goofy ones can be really fun and lead to interesting boss fights. I use my mimic as a distraction and usually hook them up with the spells that suck but look cool. Idc rain of fire and rain of stars are amazing visually when my mimic gets them off.

I honestly love spirit ashes. They have a lot of character and are balanced in such a way that no one spirit ash can suck the challenge out of the game. You can go sit in a corner and your strongest ash might only do 30% of the bosses health bar but there are so many different kinds of ashes with different styles, its fun to summon them and see what they have going on.

When he really said that this is gonna do more damage to you than your enemy, I felt that I definitely only killed the one that surprised you at the beginning of the dlc, and ran from all the other ones. 1:52

I don't play with summons, but I will do a run with an imp cannon and then a golem, as soon as I dropped them I knew they would be fuuny for a potential run

Great video! I’m definitely using spirits for lots of the dlc. I wanted to try to do most major bosses without, but after fighting the Blackgaol knight again and again and again at scadu tree level 4 and not even taking 10% of his health off there’s no way on my first playthrough

Jolan and Anna are GOATED. On my magic playthrough now and they’re just so fun to watch jump a boss while you spam magic. Very fun

Why the fudge can’t we get the red-lightning infused dragon claw?! It’s super cool and appears to come out faster than Bayle’s flame lightning. It even seems to combo off itself.

That's because it's an exact copy of the Dragon Claw we get but then with some extra lightning effects and I imagine also dealing some lightning damage.

There is no enemy that disturbs me like the Fingercreepers. Yet I desperately want my own little support one.

The black knights have their shields up so often you’d think the summon would do it more

Tiche and Dung Eater are still my favorites. But the swordhands are cool as well.

There's the dried bouquet talisman, where when your spirit ash dies you get stronger. So the weaker spirits could be useful for this specific build type

The Jolan and Anna summons is now my personal favorite spirit summons including the dragon preistess one

Do NOT sleep on the Messmer Soldiers. Against anything that can’t poise through their attacks, they outright flatten them. I literally just sat back and watched them beat the annihilation shit out of the Curseblade boss in the Bonny Gaol.

mesmer soldiers is my favourite ash, i dont play with ashes very often but I summoned them for this monkey dude yoda guy and they soloed him without me even hitting him once

Tested Jolan and Anna+10. Their damage seems extremely low. Health is also pretty low. Kinda useable if you are already running a mage build with lots of FP. If not you will need to spend a huge amount of level points in mind or give up a ring slot just to summon them. I knew they are not going to match mimic tiers power but I kinda wanted or hoping them to kinda fill the roll of greatshield gang. But sadly they don’t come close. I haven’t tested the tank golem dude. Seems like he maybe can fill the roll of greatshield gangs summon.

I had the completely opposite experience with Andreas. He was always up in enemy’s faces hitting them all the time, and he got the guard counters off very regularly, as well as using his crucible tongue move to pull them in.

Haven't finished the dlc yet but I already know my next run is gonna be a passive run, because I need to try these spirit ashes. I usually only play with latenna or stormhawk deenth and use them only for specific bosses, but it looks really fun to run around healing spirit ashes. Especially now that there are a lot more options for that

Honestly I been enjoying the Gravebird, it fits my Death Sorcery build flavor wise and is a somewhat useful thing to get annoying bosses off me

I'm happy to see that dragon waifu is no2 on the list. I saw what you get if you do her quest without the potion and I didnt like the weapon and heart when you can get a similar heart with the painting. Got the ashes and I'm happy with her.

If a mod can fix Spirit AI, might be interesting to combine with Seamless Coop. Or better yet, adding summonable field bosses as spirits.

Correction: Queelign uses a heavy thrusting sword called Queelign’s Sword. It just looks a lot like a spear

For anyone with a non FP having build that wants to use a high cost summon use the hudden cerulean tear since it removes FP consuption. Basicly, it gives you a free summon.

My favourite is still the 3 jars. They’re pretty useless but they’re so cute. They make me try harder so I can keep them up

Yeah, it's completely understandable but still sad that almost all Spirit Ashes don't really scale above like NG+4. I'm playing NG+7 and with RSA+10, Jolan and Anna get melted in seconds by every miniboss in SoE. It's really only the Mimic Tear that can keep up, since that scales with your stats. And I can't really fault the logic there... By NG+4, it's fair to expect a player to really not need the assistance of Spirit Ashes as much.

I wish more people used spirit ashes that aren't Mimic Tear or Black Knife Tiche. Most of these new ones seem really cool. Hell, some of the base game ashes are fun to summon like Omenkiller and Stormhawk

I enjoy trying out different ones but the two problems are that if you can't heal them they die really quickly apart from the mimic, and also great ghost gloveworts basically don't exist (there's like 4 of them in game or sth), so if you aren't abusing save files you basically can't afford to experiment.

Some good ones The rats. They do it for free, and are tankier than you might think. They're the ultimate on deployment flexibility, requiring no FP, and while they aren't exactly powerhouses, they chip away for an entire fight, and there's more often than not at least one survivor to the very end of even harsh fights. Diseased Corpses: Legit, I think these are the most slept on ash. They're STUPIDLY good. They're damn near immortal, and hold aggro better than anything else. If all you want a summon for is to distract things, they're the champs. They're basically guaranteed to turn any 2v2 into a 1v2 in your favor. Latenna or whatever her name is: Finding good sniper spots for her is fun, and enemies turning into hedgehogs as they get covered with arrows is hilarious Ancestral Follower: He's a pretty tough and versatile guy. Doesn't really shine in any specific way, but is always a good pick, and a couple smaller bosses he can absolutely bully with his armor and high poise attacks. The Greatshield Gang: The like, 4 or 5 subterranean hollow dudes with greatshields. Minimal offensive presence, probably worse than Diseased corpses, but there's something magical about one of these little guys sliding in, and a boss' attack deflecting off the shield before it hits you.
