I miss these guys and their humor together. Yes, Matt was also amazing in Blink, but can we all agree that he was always funny af in AK3 interviews? New album kicks ass.

Matt is so underated , he is probably the best song writer and guitar player today.

ITTC is honestly the best album since Crimson, IMO. Just so solid the whole way through. So stoked to hear new Alk3 stuff and we were beyond happy to catch them in Pittsburgh earlier this month. Great fucking band!

Pumped to see Dan has it together. ... Skiba seems like he could be trending on Twitter any day, and nobody would be surprised.

Matt is alive in this one. I've never seen him this way in an interview.

Crimson still remains as my favorite AK3 album. Stoked for the new album! Glad to see them back

3.29 Personally my favourite Alkaline Trio song in 'Good Bye Forever'. It's an early song that has a fantastic guitar rift by Matt Skiba (accompanied by a melodious lyrical style that is both hypnotic in it's softness and grating in his yelling), an astounding bass riff (that is slick, detailed, relaxed, and yet somewhat perfunctory in the way he plays it), and the energetic and exiting drumming that accompanied the song (I apologise as I can't remember who drummed for you in that track, but it was great).

I fucking love this band. Got into them in 2003 and they changed my life. Made me realize I'm not as crazy as some people think I am!

I’ve seen Alkaline Trio in concert more times than any other band, even the show in Utah when Matt Skiba got a birthday lapdance

No, it's been there. I saw a docu-style clipshow of behind the scenes with the band from YEARS ago, where Matt talked about living with Dan and climbing between their house and a neighbor's then diving through Dan's window to get in when the bar would take his keys, and feeling guilty for "Silence of the Lambs fucking SWAT team at 4 AM"-ing Dan. They also talked about renting a bounce house when they'd throw parties because the cops that came to respond to a noise complaint would get distracted and just ask questions about the bounce house because they were gonna rent one later.

He's big into meditation and mindfulness, calm voice and mannerisms reflect this. He had surgery on his voice years ago which is why it's raspy but I'm sure we can all agree makes for an awesome singing voice.

If you look at them not knowing who they are and went on looks alone, you think; those guys would never gel. Then obliviously to the fans. They've been side by side now for 22+ years and to me the most consistent band out there. And judging on the stuff they released about 2 months ago, getting better and better.

His chemistry with Dan is huhthvhhsiwhrhfhshw awesome. Never feels awkward like he does in blink interviews.

Dan and Matt are my favorite duo, together with Alan and Dan from Four Year Strong.

I got an alkaline trio tattoo as soon as I turned 18 like 8 years ago. It's an outline of their logo drawn in blood with lyrics to 'cringe' inside of it on my inner elbow is it called? but yeah, really love them and it's pretty fucking cool they're still making music.

Saw them a couple weeks ago and Matt was playing the wrong chords to songs and singing the wrong lyrics. I mentioned to my buddy that it looked like he was messed up on Opiates. This interview makes me wonder that even more. Matt is sweating a bunch, has the unmistakable Opiate raspy voice, and stumbling through answers. Dan seems super composed and shoots Matt weird looks throughout the entire interview. I hope I am wrong, but if I am not I hope Matt is able to figure this all out.

+Goyi Rom No he's still a member of the band but he's just taking time off for health reasons and isn't joining them on this current tour. The touring replacement they have is Jarrod Alexander and i just saw Alkaline Trio live a couple weeks ago at Boston house of blues and it was amazing and his touring replacement was so good that it almost felt like nothing was missing but yeah Derek is still a member of the band but he's just taking time off cause apparently liver issues.
