Jaysus! We used to go see Roaring Jack down at the Sando and never realised what a giant this man was

I too met him at the Sando a few times, and those gigs will be with me till I die. He and Paul Kelly stand below nobody in the singer/songwriter pantheon. Good times indeed, sad to hear of his passing a few years ago. all the best, Scotty the banjo picker.

He sang Saturday johney and Jimmy the rat at the back of numerella Hall before he ever recorded it. I was there with another 4 or 5 people. Amazing

In the shipyards and mines they remember the things Alistair sang about. One year on - not forgotten. Others will hear his voice.

Come all of you workers who toil night and day By hand and by brain to earn your pay Who for centuries long past for no more than your bread Have bled for your countries and counted your dead In the factories and mills, in the shipyards and mines We've often been told to keep up with the times For our skills are not needed, they've streamlined the job And with sliderule and stopwatch our pride they have robbed

RIP Alistair. Great range of musical performances. I only wish more of it was available. I really like the guitarists and his backing vocals but I can't find his performances elsewhere. Anyone got any clues?
