Especially because this was a small-scale production. Look at the credits at the end: 4 camera’s, and the name Joachim Müller appearing almost everywhere, from Producer to Cameraman to Editor! I think he has passed his exam with flying colors, like Alina Bercu!

That's a very good point ed. Lovely to see her hands flying across the keys, the reflection of the violinist in the Steinway, the occasional smiles on the young orchestras' faces. The camera work did add something to the performance.

As far as I am witnessing, there is something in the Romanian diet that produces so many beautiful, talented artists!

I do not know what to say. words are insufficient. Can humanity create a better composition than this in the future? I do not know. But I know this: this work is an extraordinary, magnificent work. the orchestra almost revived Beethoven... he lifted him to his feet. I congratulate dear Alina and the members of the orchestra for presenting this magnificent musical feast to us... congratulations

Alina’s elegant performance brought me to tears. She is a Goddess.

This orchestra's sound is so full-bodied. Combine that with a pianist who's expressiveness seems overwhelming and I for one am unable to sit still listening. Instead I find myself literally dancing in my seat. Wow!

That second movement is other- worldly. The Angels are weeping.

It is hard to believe that an orchestra of musicians in their twenties can generate such outstanding beauty, but yes, they can. I cried. One is led to believe that there is hope for humanity after all.

What a thrilling performance. Those young musicians in the orchestra are just killing it. At around 2:00 Nicolas Pasquet turns to Alina Bercu and gives her a big smile, which she returns - they both know the orchestra is going over the moon on this occasion. Not to take anything away from Bercu, she is simply amazing.

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but why are they so young, they all look 22. Is this normal?

The skill and talent of this pianist is unmatched, my god. She just completely nailed it, flawless victory.

Why is it, whenever I listen to this concerto, I feel nothing but joy, but when I listen to most (not all) modern pop music, I feel nothing but contempt. I suggest music be a mandatory 2 hour class each day from 1st grade until high school graduation. And, after my tears have stopped welling up, I offer gratitude to the universe for these moments in time. Bravo, Ludwig, bravo...

Wenn jemand dieses Konzert nur einmal in seinem Leben gehört hat, ist sein Leben nicht umsonst!

Diese Interpretation gehört zu den besten, die ich je gehört habe, und ich kenne dieses Werk jetzt über 50 Jahre. Frau Bercu ist eine exorbitante Künstlerin, allein ihre Haltung fasziniert schon. Ich konnte mich nach den ersten Akkorden nicht mehr trennen, und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Dieser Anschlag, diese beseelten lyrischen Passagen, in den schnellen kein Verwischen mit dem Pedal, die deutlichen Figuren auch in der Linken, die Ausleitung aus der Kadenz im 1. Satz und der Übergang zum 3., alles läuft so leicht aus den Fingern. Man beachte nur einmal die Repetition des 5. Fingers der re. Hand! Unglaublich gut. Aber auch das Orchester ist hervorragend, und der Dirigent ein großer Orchesterezieher und Interpret. Hochachtung vor den jungen Musikern!

The Emperor concerto is a message from the hidden world that Beethoven knew was the source of his music, this performance is wonderful to enjoy from my computer as often as I want to is a miracle from that hidden world.

Incredible. The Beethoven piece is gorgeous, only geniuses knew how to write music, Alina Bercu is a phenomenal player, the whole orchestra did a fantastic job.

Alina Bercu is just amazing.. And she, the conductor and the young orchestra are so in sync with each other. What a great performance of one or Beethoven's greatest works. WOW!!

Alina Bercu is my NEW FAVORITE among young lady musicians! I usually feel most strongly about violinists but ALINA BERCU is almost like a single element making a VERY BEAUTIFUL MUSIC AS ONE! ❤

Young performers (including Ms Bercu) are always great to watch and hear!

What a beautiful performance . Beethoven is my most favorite composer of all times. I love his Emperor Concerto and the the 5th Symphony and the 9th. Saved me from depression. . Music is the best medicine cool your inner soul.

Extraordinar!!!! Am plins de bucurie sa vad toti acesti tineri, plini de energie. Aceasta orcherstra poate concura cu cele mai renumite orchestre din lume. Cit despre Alina, nu am stiut ca exista acest minunat fenomen!! O interpretare magnifica! Felicitari tuturor!!

Alina Bercu, so articulate, her loveliness and so poised, dignity - brings the entire orchestra into her spell. All so young, so beautifully performed. The new generation is no disappointment! The 2nd movement worthy of tears. The beautiful and dignified pianist, the subtle orchestration of such young beautiful faces in their joy of performance, just sweeps one away.❤️💔 So thankful of no audience applause at the end of the first movement so as to not break the enchanting spell.

Her mastery of the Adagio, a difficult and delicate part, was wonderfully done.

Each time I listen this concert, I love it more and more. This is a holy gift from God for Europe in january 13, 1811, inside Germany.

Yes, Alina Bercu is on her way to being one of that group of beautiul talented female pianists who bless us with their great talent. She is definitely world class - of the first magnitude and the Beethoven Emperor Concerto certainly brings out her skills in playing and interpreting the music.

What a performance!!! I am in tears, astounded. Unbelievably beautiful and tasteful. Alina Bercu reminds me of the old school russian pianists with impeccable technique and also great taste of music and phrasing. And what an orchestra!!!! Extraordinary young musicians! At par with the the greatests orchestras of the world! Congratulations to all!!

For me anything Beethoven was beautiful. For many many years I had access to only one Beethoven Symphony "Pastoral" but other pieces I heard on the radio was glorious. I grew up in the days when there was no internet or KZread.

Bravo, alina, my heart melts down with pride & joy! Sorry for not writing earlier,but l let myself entangled with customs & traditions on National day! I turn to you & i wonder what is going wit us & how is possible to endulge in trifles, jokes& dances, beans & bones? How could we forget what is important and rally matters? In his book "Why beethoven" NORMAN LEBRECHT says that Concert 5 is a domain belonging exclusively to men. Should he see this performance he won't believe his eyes & stand nonplussed. For this happens to me and so I stand!

So very well played Miss. Bercu. You are so elegant, smooth and relaxed in your play that it seems to be effortless, when we know that much hard work and dedication has been invested in your talent. Your style and grace enhance your performance and are so appreciated in this modern age of beating the piano into submission. Thank you for sharing your efforts with us. The orchestra was very well practiced and led by Mr. Pasquet. There was no lag or push in their play, like a well made mechanical watch, all parts worked together to produce a work much greater in grandeur than their individual parts. The far chair oboist was perfection in her timing and power, a key player in the LvB Piano #5.

The performance was excellent but the telecast was one of the worst I have seen! The director lacked all situational awareness. The cameras were wrong places and the shooting kept jumping here and there without any sense. The director did his best to prevent the viewer from concentrating on and enjoying the performance itself. The director didn't even realized that in a piano concerto performance,the pianist has to be in the leading role all the time! The level of the telecast was really bad.

It is more interesting to watch the various instruments as they're making a significant contribution ; this especially applied to the wind and brass. I liked being able to see the pianist in the foreground with the conductor in the background. I hadn't intended to watch but the quality drew me in

Hervorragend gespielt von Alina Bercu, jugendlich frisch, fröhlich bis frech kokettierend, mit einer Leichtigkeit, nicht stur professionell, nein ganz unbeschwert, in Mimik und Körpersprache. Sehr schön zu sehen und zu hören die Klänge von Beethovens 5. Klavierkonzert, dargeboten von einem jugendlichen Orchester, ich bin begeistert. Es gibt immer Unterschiede bei den Künstlern, sie hat mich voll ergriffen mit ihrer Spielweise, Interpretation von einem Werk was mir ohnehin schon feuchte Augen macht. Vielen herzlichen Dank.

She is right up there with Alice Sara, Yuja Wang, Olga Scheps and others. Gosh, listening to her and watching her is like a part of heaven. Oh, Ceil!!

First time I listen to this pianist and I must admit she 's an excellent performer. Flawless technique and perfect timing , phrasing and great musicality. I wonder why I have never heard of her before. Comparing with others is always difficult but she 's in the same category as Ott, Grimaud, Argerich and a few others. My personal favourites are Scheps ( for her Chopin interpretations) Buniatishvili (Rachmaninov) and of course Yuja Wang (She's from another planet). Male performers Trifonov, Kissin and Andsnes.

How wonderful. I've listened to all virtuosos playing this piece and this is by far the best one. That is so unexpected. Perhaps the passion in this music can only be brought out best by young, passionate people. This young pianist and the orchestra just seem to have it right. You can hear the passionate dialogues going back and forth for commitment to go forward for the cause between the crowd and the hero in the 1st movement. Then the hero ruminating all alone in the 2nd movement, followed with no hesitation whatsoever in the 3rd movement, they are now marching towards the battle all in unison. It is just marvelous. Beethoven...super human.. Bravo, bravo, bravo!

It is easy to get so caught up in the brilliance and amazing execution of this young beautiful soloist that we could miss some of the wonderful supporting musicians, especially the Horns and the oboists. As a horn player myself I was blown away by the lead Horn! What an AMAZING collaboration of the pianist, conductor, and every member of this orchestra! Bravo!!!

Splendida orchestra caratterizzata dalla presenza giovanile e quindi con una energia che trasforma il suono in scintille di luce. registrazione accurata e di grande pulizia. Straordinaria anche la Bercu per sensibilità, intensità e precisione. Davvero una esecuzione di assoluto rilievo del concerto Beethoveniano n. 5. complimenti e applausi!!!

For my taste, Beethoven can sometimes be overwhelmingly intense, to the point of stridency, and even harshness. But, somehow, this performance has a truly amazing delicacy and sensitivity, which I was not expecting. A delightful surprise, which proves to me how skillful musicianship can reinterpret a very famous classic to a whole new generation! Tky v much

I wish this were available in true HD and on CD or Blu Ray. Such an outstanding performance and superb filming. She is simply elegant, gentle, and yet has such humble prowess in her technique and performance. Love it.

I picked this LP up (it was 1975) as a school boy, thinking it was the 5th Symphony ... which is what I really wanted. After a few bars I realised that this wasn't the music I thought it was but loved it instantly. It is SO much better than the symphony (to my mind)

I was a little shocked, frankly, how well this orchestra performed with such young faces....the tightness and tonal accuracy were superb plus the dynamics allowed an excellent blend with the grand. I'm going to look to see if they did symphonie Fantastique anywhere on here.

Lovely perfomance! Gentle smile between pianist and conductor in 2.02 (never seen before anywhere) and gesture of final triumph at 5.15. We know, Ms Bercu, we know you can handle it like nobody else. Congratulations and thank you.

She is super! I love her piano touch! She creates a new version of Beethoven!

Wonderful recording: the sonority of the orchestra and the piano is one of the best I've heard. Easily one can tell among all instruments mainly wood winds and brass. Really great, very great. Thanks for posting.

She tried grasping the heart of Beethhoven how he, in not so good condition, was writing the 2nd movement adagio un poco mosso. Briliant. She came to Indonesia played 3 concerts for the financing of a rehab. program for the physically challenged children when she was 11 years old. Bravo Alina Bercu

Absolutely wonderful! My appreciation to everyone involved. The Emperor has long been a favourite for me. But this is the first time I've had the opportunity to watch a performance. Usually, I enjoy via Classic FM radio here in the UK. Earlier this evening, I sat down to listen while doing some paperwork, but it wasn't long before the admin was set aside. I just had to watch this utterly riveting performance! As a non-musician, it seems almost unbelievable to me that a pianist could possibly play such a demanding composition. To see it accomplished is simply transfixing! I'm so thankful we have a Creator so beyond our imagination that He could bring into being creatures such as the human race, with creative and performance skills capable of development to this level. Deo Gloria! Maranatha!

All Beethoven's 5 piano concertos are among the greatest pieces. I have listened to many different versions of the 5 concertos. His triple concerto is heavenly beautiful.

Brava! I'm not a musician but a passionate lover of classical music and opera. I've loved this piece for many years. The 1st and 3rd movements never seize to amaze me but I look to Beethoven for the intense emotion I relate to in particular pieces. The adagio in this concerto has always struck a very deep chord in me so I tend to be quite particular in the interpretation. I've heard everything from amazing to cold. What I hear in the adagio and relate to is a remembering of a lost love and the struggle to come to terms with it. For me, Alina Bercu certainly conveyed this in her playing. I will definitely watch and listen to more of her performances. The orchestra also is amazing, particularly for being such young musicians!

@@amir071 Thank you very much! I appreciate that. I find that writing simple everyday things like this, or letters to friends etc. is a lost art . I enjoy very much and I find that when writing from the heart and using just the right word setting, it can make a great impact on the reader.

Ms. Bercu. This is a benchmark performance. Thanks to your perfected technique, extreme sensitivity, and passion. The conductor, Nicolas Pasquet is doing a superb job in creating the impact that this performance has on the audience... the impact of a profound emotional experience. The orchestra is great! They play so well and so together, and in response to the conductor's moves and directions! Benchmark = to be performed and referenced till the end of the world, and very likely, beyond!

The second movement of the Emperor Concerto takes me back to the funeral procession for John F. Kennedy in 1963, when I was 12 years old. Magnificently performed here!

wonderfully gifted woman, and beautiful playing, mesmerizing, Mariana Grinblat - Canada.

For a moment, step into the mind of a genius that created a heaven when there is none, but if there was, Beethoven would be smiling at those musicians who had given a true expression of his thought.

I have heard this work from a better orchestra, but I have never seen a better soloist. Congratulations.
