I mean, despite the fact he was trying to do things the completely wrong way, I don't find them toxic, at least not in the way usual relationships go in these shows. He's apparently a bad person in a grey area, and he took advantage of her and her powers to become powerful, but I don't feel it had anything to do with them as a "couple" or even intimate people. There wasn't a clear relationship dinamic created for them. They kissed, but it was more like a thing from the moment and then it was just about their very different views of what to do with the fold.

Um. He's not toxic, and he's not villian at all. He was trying to save grisha, and than he was trying to make them stronger and more powerful. It's good, i mean they were in danger, so it's nothing bad or "villian's". And with Alina...Bagra spoiled everything. Her soldier even can't kill some regular boy, wtf? And who knows what was his plan before, maybe he really changed and wanted to destroy it. But he loved Alina this is 100%.

Darkling is not so bad after all. He and the other ones like him was seeing like monsters and mostly kill for no reason.It was not their fault to be born like this.The one who was murdered could be someone mother, father, brother or daughter. He just wanted to protect his kind. He doesn't know how to use his power perfectly so he created that black mass. At final, when I was finishing the series I was thinking that grisha life in the whole series was like jew's in the WWII (my opinion). They needed to be saved. Even if it is just a fiction ppl don't think how will it be in reality. Just think how it will be if tomorrow a child with some power will appear. They will put him in cages and make investigation. How ppl will see them. Look just how hateful are the ppl over something so insegnificant like sexuality or gender and then tell me IF something new and DIFFERENT will appear will they be seen equal

"fine make me your vilan" for once let the anti-hero get the girl, they are perfect plus Ben Barnes makes it so easy.

He said that with so much pain in his eyes it’s actually so sad :( I’m not saying hi is a saint because he did make bad choices and chose the wrong path BUT he was just trying to make justice for his people. The fact that she became aware of her powers and true self and yet chose to fight for the humans (the one that did always hurt the grishas) made him so sad that he was okay with being the villain if that means he’s still fighting for his own kind

@@diamond110 I get you! I never read the books, didn’t even know they existed. Just saw the serie on Netflix and thought I’d try it. When I saw these two together, in the same scene, I was moved. He believed in her before she even believed in herself, he empowered her and enjoyed watching her be in her power. He never backed down from her.

@@orlyyy9245 Have you read the rest of the trilogy? They are actually connected to each other. Both with unique powers that understood each other. They both felt it. He was so happy to meet someone like him. Yes he did use her but their relationship is much more complex than that.

I don’t think she has to “change” him I think that he is a good person who has just been misguided and therefore made the wrong choices. I think he will realize that there was a better way and become a better person because of it. So far he is my favorite character and I ship him and Alina so much

This Darkling is quit different from the original one. You can see that spark in his eyes when he looked at her and no one can tell me he didn t care for her. He was just a misunderstood man who lived all his life being hunted by the others and when he finally find Alina and thought maybe she will understand him, she betrayed him without even a chance to see his perspective.

Yes!! 🔥🔥🔥 Finally someone said it! 🖤🖤🖤 The characters in the book and in the series are quite different. For sure writers had something in their minds to change the ending. Based on an article I saw in google. Leigh (the author) said that the story of the series will depend on the viewers and depends on the writers. So there is a huge possibility there will be a twist on its ending. 🤍🤍🤍

@@aliciadelapaz208 The Darkling from the show was a little more sad than angry when Alina said "I never needed" you and cut his hand with that knife. So I think they will try to redeem him a little. But as a said at others videos, it should be better for Alina to end up with nobody cause will make a little more sense than with a psycho or with his childhood friend were a see just a siblings love, nothing more.

One second I'm in love with him and the next he disgusts me, this show is killing me ♥️♥️

I have never been obsessed with other couples in film before. Twilight? Nah. 50 Shades of meh? Nah. Darklina.... OH YES! The reason we are so obsessed with Darklina because the acting/chemistry between Jessie and Ben is off the charts. Ben's acting is out of this world and Alina, the way she looks at him with teary and hurtful eyes during that painful conversation about her powers being exploited... I felt it.. All of it. I love the way the character Alina looks at Aleksander, and vice versa. If they start dating in RL, I won't get mad. We all see the chemistry on screen!

The chemistry between these two is just amazing... I think I’ll edit them for the rest of my life! 🌒✨

DARKLINA BROKE MY HEART IN THE LAST EPISODE I HOPE THEY EXPLORE THEM MORE IN SEASON 2

She didn't get away. He chased her away; captured her, and then bound her unwillingly. Though I really wish she was able to find out herself who he was, rather than Baghra just spilling the beans with no input from him. I don't know how it is in the books, but the way his eyes spoke when she was pointing out his mistakes of making her a slave, essentially, showed that he didn't think how his actions would make her feel. And like she said, it didn't matter to him who got hurt, as long as his goals were met. He messed up badly, but I can't wait to see what they do with this. They can't just give us electric chemistry for nothing! Would they??

Confront him make him feel u are open to talk about it with an open mind try to understand why he did what he did like??? Come on it’s obv he isn’t pure evil he is a very complex well written character if I was in her place I would tell bghra off and wait for him and speak to him make him feel that I care and that am there for him that he isn’t lonely ,make him open up to me and then see what happens not just fking flee 😒😒😒 he did do terrible things but his reasons were not really bad tbh it’s like in the last episode he made a logical decision he is the general and it’s his responsibility to make the hard decisions it’s easier for them to just sit there and judge him when they don’t have to make any hard decisions, his priorities are his ppl and ravka he expanded the fold because there was gonna be a civil war if he destroyed the fold and since they are already at war with two places how can they afford another civil war?? I hope if not being an endgame, The Darkling and Alina will find a way to understand one another better- The Darkling for finding a method to improve the world where grisha can be respected instead of being killed, as for Alina to under what The Darkling is trying to do and enable her to lead the Darkling into becoming a better person. I don’t want Alina to be with Mal or The Darkling, she’s fine as she is and she needs to explore more of the world.

Imagine that: the whole point of having Saints was to get light and dark to coexist and because that never happened, the land is inflicted with their failures

THIS IS SO STUNNING AND BEAUTIFUL

Man, I'm obsessed with these two, and this is utterly heartbreaking, damn 🥺. I genuinely don't understand how these characters aren't together. They are friggin soulmates, darkness and light, yin and yang. Hell, even Ben Barnes said it himself. Just because Mal is the good guy does not mean he and Alina belong together. The Darkling and Alina they defy each other, they challenge each other, it's so interesting. Yes, the Darkling is manipulative and he is violent, but that's what he was taught in order to survive. I mean tbh I think Zlatan is more of a bastard, letting Fjerdans in, so they can raid the docks and kidnap and kill Grisha, no wonder the Darkling wants to kill them. Throughout the decades he's only had himself for company, to make decisions, and he's become colder and crueller because well, of time. With Alina, he doesn't feel alone anymore, he feels like he could spend forever with her. That moment where she touches his hand and the light just exploded, his face! His face said it all. It's like he's saying I've finally found someone, and Alina could really be his balance. I feel like when she said to him that he didn't give her a choice, neither did she. When Baghra took her, she should've went back and gotten the truth out of the Darkling, she knows him better than bloody Baghra, he would've told her I think, and she could decide from there. She doesn't get how much the Grisha had to suffer and maybe he could've told her that so she could understand. I feel like he really wants to protect Alina as she is the only one like him, and, if they got the chance, the other side would try to kill her. I swear, there is literally so much potential with these two they're really interesting and complex characters. I hope Netflix realises because God knows I'm going to fucking lose it if they don't.

I really shipped them after watching the show. When I read the books I thought no way Mal all the way. But the show I feel her and Mal were more brother/sister. It kills me that Aleksander seems to really love her and see her as his equal in the show 😭

He seems to me as if he is torn between his need for more power and his feelings for her.
