The chitin kevlar armor plates have helped immensely though, with all the alien blood your marines have been soaked with on just this mission, they'd be sizzling skeletons without them.
@hawkeye5955

There's a xenotech upgrade unlocked later that will make the armor immune to acid damage.
"i can just go back and pick up all the sentries i left there" - no, no you wont. :'D
You gotta love the cheap scifi trope of nuking the surface. Especially when the enemy are known for lurking in caves 😂
You can't get the sentry guns left at Harper's hell, because once Hunslet picks you up the option to get the lift down to that level no longer exists as it is blanked off. Also you got the extra supplies over 150 because you had a marine that had "Looter" bonus giving an extra 10%. I think you missed 1 crate and got (14) 140 +10% (154)

Jingles is actually playing fine as he is steadily progressing the game. Sure he is making some moves that cause more problems than needed, but difficulty he is playing is nicely balancing it out as it should. For first playthrough it is just fitting to have less familiarity so you can experience game as it was intended. Just going along and enjoying it. Naturally, if somebody is trying to complete game with nightmare it makes sense to have more optimized play style.

No one expects perfection from a Jingles playthrough. He's right that he learns slowly as he hasn't yet adapted to the very powerful mines that he's brought along. Mines and sniper rifles are really important for staying undetected as you move through the levels. Still fun to watch!
@FlinzPrime
11 ай бұрын
@@davidsmith8997 It certainly is enjoyable playthrough. I have to disagree with mines. I used mines on normal in my first playthrough and sure they work alright enough. When I played nightmare, I stoped using mines for any other purpose than rarely protect position at close quarter location. Why? Mines use a lot of command points to place them all around, one is not enough to kill warrior and you rather move around patrols than get random xenos spawning on you when distant mine kills one you don't want to kill.
@davidsmith8997

@@FlinzPrime I've only done hard, so I don't know about nightmare. But I found they help a lot to prevent being surprised as you suggest they don't. Maybe we use them differently? Or maybe nightmare is very different. Don't know.

@@davidsmith8997 That's about the usual for Jingles. He's not nearly as crap as he (and others) claims to be, but it's funny to pretend he is.
Watching your playthroughs convinced me to get this game, so you've done your part Jingles. Whoever told you about mines was dead-on; since a roamer hitting a mine doesn't cause detection I used them a LOT. Berkley's Docks was very, very easy since I also managed to get a Marine to Sargeant and equip him with as much +command points bonuses as I could for level 3. Sargeant + Mines everywhere taking out roamers proved far more effective than snipers...although as mines stay after deployments I must admit that if any innocent civilians come through after my Marines did they are going to have a really bad day. Sure hope there aren't any Newts hiding somewhere...
The RPG is extreamly good to fight bosses. Much more useful then heavy pulse rifle. Mines are also great since they are stealty. There is a upgrade for the mines in xenotech where the xenos will imedietly walk on the mine if it is in their line of sight. Incinirator is great to clear eggs, also stealthy and the fire you csn put down really can save your ass in a running situations where the shit hits the fan.
Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed half the things that Jingles is pointing out (i.e. the bar going down on the vent aliens). Jingles is playing rather well I think for the firstish runthrough.
@riquelmeone
10 ай бұрын
he has played plenty of missions by now to learn stuff. And he is playing on fairly low difficulty.
Can I make a request Jingles? Few people are watching this for your tactical prowess. One of the best parts is the lore that you share. Almost like ship or tank reviews, but Aliens related instead. So if you could please continue and/or increase that content, that would be great!
@JohnWilliamNowak
11 ай бұрын
One bit of lore I was expecting ever since I first saw Aliens has never come up AFAIK. Everyone in the colony has a PDT, it's suggested Newt does not (since they didn't pick it up and give her a transponder). So the only colonist to evade the aliens is the one who isn't radiating. Huh. Maybe they can see radio?
Another thing I think you really might need to learn Jingles: running DOES make your squad more detectable, as in it makes any detection timers run down SUPER fast! I'm not sure if you noticed or realised, but that time you tried to retreat from an activating alien vent would have gone a lot smoother if you had WALKED out of the detection zone instead of ran!

Here's a neat little detail. If you go back to the second video in the series, you can see the ship's cat on the crate below-center of where Hayes is standing. Now the devs may have changed some of the cat's positions in an update (because I could have swore I saw him in the medbay once); Jingles might be seeing something clearer than me. But I think his arrow is on some engineer's head 😸

It evaded gunfire, too XD
Just remember everyone - you can also activate motion trackers to draw Aliens towards it. You will lose the motion tracker in exchange, however. Also mines, sentry guns and airstrikes don't cause hunts. Aliens will be drawn the the gunfire/explosions however, so it's a bit of a catch 22. If you do have spare sentries though, using them to watch hallways and junctions can be useful for controlling alien traffic. I had one in this mission in a pretty good spot where it could cover two hive access points, and it really stacked the bodies - the only reason the aliens got through is because it ran out of ammo.

Well Shit, Several videos back I made the prediction that Jingles would continue to forget to rename Deadeye to Smudge for the entirety of the series but look who wanders in to centre stage at 10:30 Well done sir! You're clearly not as crap as you or anyone else claims and I'll be pulling a triple shift in the salt mines to make up for my lack of faith Mighty Overlord.

I would've gotten my ass handed to me multiple times if it weren't for the things I learned watching. He stumbles so that we may walk.
Does this mean that the game Stray is a part of the Alien universe.
It's all a matter of preference, but all Heavy Pulse or Plasma Rifles is entirely doable. A little smart maneuvering and two Shotguns, a Heavy Flamer and an RPG or two will see you through anything. You can even trade the flamer for a marksman rifle if you're not a degenerate like me. I even traded a Shotgun for a mine for extra degenerate fun because I ran a 4 Sergeant squad... Fun episode!
so considering the fact that there was 150 materials on the map still there and he came back with 154... means ... he didnt got all the materials... 150 = is 15 crates he only got 14 (he gets 11 per crate)

This mission made me laugh as it was the point when I realised that Hayes sacrificed the escape vehicle she wanted to use to get her satellite in to orbit making that cruise missile and so the game thinks that can't be done anymore. It then sends you back in to space on the dropship, meaning we could just load up the satellite in the dropship and jettison it in orbit. Hopefully you're playing the patched version so you can pick up the bugged datapad later.

Gameplay-wise, I think the biggest problem with the game is the unceasing and inappropriate chatter from the Marines. Plotwise, it's kind of a mess with our protagonist seeing dozens of screaming and dying people on video and not mentioning it to anyone, and the very nice plot hole you just mentioned.

As a long time on and off again viewer. Oh long time as in when I first started watching your channel you were still putting out war thunder aircraft videos, yes that long ago. There are two things that that I love ya and remember you for. 1) that you unapologetically stat that your shit (it’s a lovable quirk of yours) and 2) every time I see a crash landing, doesn’t matter the game, it’s a jingles landing. Your awesome.
Its 1:30 in the morning mighty lord, i was about to sleep but i guess it can wait
Love the landmines. They are just so great for corridors.
36:30 Jingles and he's big mouth ... LOL. Talking about improving ... I loved it.
Jingles confesses to being crap. Fortunately, I don't think any of us would have him any other way. It's often what makes his videos and commentary so entertaining.
“It’s mostly me running about picking up supplies… mostly.”
Mining the hive entries will help slow the aliens down some. And running away from the aliens in the vent make them hear you quicker, have to walk.
Pioneer Station sounds like much workplace. Built for one job, bought for another. Easier and cheaper to fix what breaks over and over
Best piece of advice I can give is USCM. Use the Sodding Chuffing Map! (also works for Mines). Glad to see Jingles picking that up 😀
I am proud to declare I only got 6 hive hunts for this level and avoided many aliens. Especially the annoying continuous spawning of aliens just for the game to patrol a hallway.
Really enjoying this series - a bit surprised you didn't go for the incinerator before the Heavy Pulse rifle...

Mines are great, but the way I've used them is essentially, whenever I'm maxed out on command points, I plop one down along the path I came, in a doorway or in an intersection, depending on what's closest. They won't actually explode if they detect one of your marines in the AOE, which is really rather good to know.
"Because I'm a merciless tease." Any bets on Jingles forgetting to place the sentry guns down first, triggering the event, then just placing the guns at random points while panicking?
Finished this game yesterday , thoroughly enjoyed playing it, thanks for the introduction Jingles
"Not about to spend all my resources," **proceeds to spend the same amount of materials and medics instead of engineers**
Thanks for the video and keep up the good work!
8:36 Jingles has started a news game for these videos, spot the kitty.
Jingles, you are not crap (ok maybe a little), I do really like your playstyle. You are always calm and try to come with a strategic way of handling the situation, which is not something everyone on youtube can say, sure you just wasted four med supplies because you create a shelter right after, but you didn't know that, instead you anticipate disaster and fix it asap. Sure those med supplies could be used in a situation where you get heavily injured, the point is, up until now you did not run into such a situation because of how you play, anticipating disaster. Stay frosty o7
I really hope jingles picks up the flamer some time soon.
These are great!
Motion Trackers are awesome, but I bet if you dropped some mines at each Hive Entrance you passed you'd do a lot of good during a Hunt or Two...

I do have to say...the RPG against queens and crushers and things...is amazing if it hits directly...i found it to be a situational weapon but extremely useful when those situations actually happened...which arent actually rare, especially if you just cant seem to stay undetected and you spawn a bigger one.

The Klingons would say "K'plah. (Good Hunting)" but there aren't any Klingons in the Alien/ Xenomorph continuum. Motion trackers are a marine's best friend. Mines are a close second. Scritches and crunchies for the floofers, fist bumps for their material support primates. 🐈🐈⬛👑✌️🖖

Also Jingles, RUNNING DOES MATTER when your trying to avoid ALIENS in VENTS.
I've been watching Flambass's playthrough, and I have to say i like your playstyle a lot better. You might mess up some basic stuff here and there but you utilize more mechanics like squad comp, med kits, and resting Our friend Flambass just throws out sentries and mines
Pro-tip? Your marines don't even need to see (via the flashlight) lootable stuff. As long as they've been in a room, the map will show all interactables. Crates, bodies, and data pads. Without that, i would have missed half the stuff in the game. I'm sure that showing the stuff on a map was done because it's very easy to miss a data pad or body.

"Frosty" is the opposite of "Dopey"! Stay sharp is another way of saying it. But, excellent job (from one oldie to another) xxx
