This is such a beautiful edit! I don’t understand how people could hate these characters. They’re so complex and interesting. Both as singular individuals and together. I find myself empathizing with them both, and I find their actors are doing a phenomenal job.

Most people don’t seem able to think of characters as being grey, they only see black and white like they’re watching a cartoon, I mean, even cartoons have great grey characters. The show wants you to be on the black side, so most people see Rhaenyra as an angel and the rest as little devils. And more so, Alicent is very traditional in her thinking, like women were in middle ages, she’s normal, but Rhaenyra being so modern makes it easier to relate to her.

I really dig the editing you did here and the filters really add to the character of what you're trying to convey in the narrative. Sort of a grainy old photograph of faded innocence that drives two people together to hold onto the decency they feel has left everyone and everything in their lives but each other. They really were made for one another.

Oh, thank you for such a thoughtful note! I was really going to say I didn't feel the filters were that important until I thought about just how many I had to try until I found the one that felt right. The editing... I still feel quite conflicted about that, it's been a while since I've done such a long video (may be my longest yet, both on this channel and in archives), I had so many concepts I wanted to reflect on, and, well, later on I just kept moving the subplots from one point of the song to another, trying to find a better fit, and I'm honestly delighted that someone thinks it somewhat makes sense!! As for the characters... It is still hard for me to express coherently how their relationship looks in my mind. I feel there is so much unleashed energy, (un)failing devotion, pain and things left unsaid, it honestly makes me a little sick. And also very sad. They really are one of a kind, like the queen and her knight from some kind of pre-raphaelite painting. I truly love this about them, I do.

This was so beautiful! I love these two so much, both as characters and their relationship, and you captured what makes them perfect for each other so well! 💚

This is beautiful. You’ve taken a song and a character (Criston Cole) I didn’t care for and made me very emotional about both. This is such an interesting beautiful lens to view these characters and their relationship from.

@@Emily63219 I KNOWWWW RIGHT??? like... after criston was burned so badly for getting too close to the sun (his thing with rhaenyra obviously) he is honestly the only man who wouldn't even dare to dream to ask/demand something from alicent? and this is the key factorbto her feeling comfortable around him, compared to other men in her life... i kinda think of them like of sheathed steel, begging to be unheated but most of the time growing rusty and never being put to use and that's how they exist and live together AND THAT'S why i believe alicent looks so scared of him when he kills beesbury (e. g. the sequence in my video where she tells him to sheet his blade and the sound of it overlaps with picture of them after viserys insulted her and they clearly both were full of emotions but had never gotten a chance to let go of them???) honestly, criston's character seems a bit underdeveloped for me at the moment, the big timejump didn't do his story arc justice, which is quite saddening. but i still like a concept of them together so so much!! hope we will get more of this "queen and her knight in shiny armour" later
