Alice Springs crime crisis is ‘only getting worse’

Sky News host Rita Panahi says the crime crisis in Alice Springs is “only getting worse”.
The Northern Territory government is going to impose a curfew on all aged under 18 in the entire CBD of Alice Springs.
The curfew comes after violence erupted in Alice Springs where hundreds of people were involved in riotous behaviour which left buildings and cars damaged and forced workers to barricade themselves inside.
The youth curfew will run for 14 days, from 6pm to 6am, and will be happening during Easter as well as the school holiday period.
Ms Panahi said there has been “some really sickening violence” that has taken place in Alice Springs.

American gang culture in places like Chicago and their glorifying it through hip hop and social media has done terrible damage to the youths in Alice Springs.

@@maximusolivia9982 I love America, I'm Australian/ Scottish. I was only criticising this specific culture that since the late 90s has had a terrible effect in America and also been imported to places like Australia and the UK ( specifically England). I've been to America many times and I myself have am American outlook on many things especially the emphasis placed of freedom of the individual. The problem is this glorifying of gang culture with its violence, hatred of police, treatment of woman, drug dealers etc. and its made its way here through music and worse social media. We have also imported the best things about America also.

I'm a black American. And yes, do some of us in my community have serious problems, no doubt. Are they easily identifiable, of course! But damn, we are literally are 9000 miles from Australia and somehow we have a reference to BLM or its hip-hop music’s fault. The youth in Australia, and that includes white youth as well, In cities like Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne are going through a wave of young youth crimes. conservatives talking points is always about taking ownership in the dealings that you do. Well, practice what you preach. Did Italians, that movies, overly glorified organized crime, garner the blame for the waves of murders through the ’20s into late ’80s? No, they didn't! So spare me with the BLM (whom by the way we're mostly white college kids in a lot of the riots) hip-hop music, or your perceived notions of black American culture. Did Roman Polański make older white men in the Western world molest children? Because statistically, it's a higher portion in that community. Did punk music make white young men shoot up elementary schools? No its those individuals are at fault in the collective.

Yes we seem to have a major problem in Australia saying Aboriginal people are extremely violent and don't live like everybody else. once we admit there's a problem then we can start working out how to fix it instead of pretending that if we just have more cultural days the whole problem will go away

@@James-kv6kb I don't think this is a problem with all Aboriginals, just a small minority - types like Lydia Thorpe. For the most part many Aboriginals are very peaceful (where I live anyway), sure we still have trouble makers, but you have that with any demographic. The rioters in the video are on a different level, perhaps this is a northern Australia thing? I did see a qanda with a Aboriginal lady, an elder, stating "we don't have a problem, YOU have a problem". IMHO this is a very, very silly way to look at things....

You're both wrong until you actually meet these people you won't understand . Ok there was a woman that had won money on a poker machine her drunken husband was demanding the money she stayed inside the venue was closing where they forced her to leave. As she went through the car park her husband run her down with the car , she became trapped under the car and he proceeded to drive around the car park until the screaming stopped and there was body parts all over the place. If a woman doesn't cook a meal or doesn't do what she's told they will grab an axe and literally attack her with the thing. there have been many cases where you will see them standing in a queue in a government office and they'll just start urinating on the carpet. People overseas simply don't understand

They're not employable this is the problem . Ok Darwin hospital has the largest admissions for jaw breakages anywhere on Earth . There was a story about a woman who wouldn't hand over her pokie winnings so her husband ran her over with the car she got lodged underneath and was dragged around the car park until she finally died . There have been stories of these people standing in government officers and just start urinating in front of everybody in the queue I'm not sure how you expect these people to learn anything or get a job

Great idea. Works so well in the US that they have 13 times more gun deaths per capita than Australia. (Land of the Free 🤣🤣🤣) Also, a great idea if you like your rioters taking guns to riots instead of bricks! Every law abiding Australian can own guns, we just don't sell them like they are popcorn.

Don't complain Aussies, you, your parents and grandparents voted for it. 1967 Referendum, endless welfare 1972 onwards, 1975 no fault divorce and the State's escalating war on the family, recognition of highly unstable defacto relationships, national firearms confiscations and buybacks and unlawful to defend yourself, family and property. Poetic justice. As the family goes so does the nation.
