it’s so insane this really shows how talented Mia wasikowska and Johnny deep really are
will always amaze me how good the finished result was! I couldent tell what was a CG body in the movie till I watched this!!!
This was made in 2010. Yet they were using 4K cameras. Damn...

Stunning editing. I honestly had no idea how they did this, but now that I know, it's definitely the best animated film I've ever seen.
I remember watching this for a school project- I never watched the movie buy it looks beautiful and a little bit darker than the one we all knew as kids! I loved this lol
i dont think yall understand how badly I want to play alive in a movie
Based on other vids ice watched I don't like how commenters are complain that non of it is real. We should be DEEPLY respectful for the minds, and the animators and the actors to spend the Time and energy putting this together and creating it
Its amazing to see how much the making of movies have changed
This video should be 10 mins long or something.
This is sooo amazing! I'm speechless!
3:23 that looks funny when Johnny literally just talks to green screen stick 😂
They most likely used 3D tracking software (PFTrack, Camera Tracker by The Foundry, Maya Tracking etc.) to get the camera movement data and then import that data into their 3D software to create a CG environment. Then in the compositing stage (Nuke, Smoke, Shake, Flame, After Effects etc.)they add the original live action footage of Alice into the CG environment.
Wow!!! 😨😱 i've always wanted to know how the special effects were done, thank you so much 😄😚💕

Yes, they usually project textures onto very simple objects in the CG scene (usually just cubes) Camera Tracker by The Foundry is a great example of this /watch?v=jmd044aG4CU That video shows the technique used in Camera Tracker to make simple objects and then project textures on them within Nuke, their compositing software
I love the cheshire cat... He's so cute.
Why isn't Depp referred to as "our actor" - Mia Wasikowska is never mentioned by her name...

That sucks! It's like there's only Johnny Depp in there. What really makes me angry is the fact that Tim Burton's films tend to treat J.D. as a god. In Alice in Wonderland's trailer, his name is the only one to appear in the middle of the shots. If you watch Charlie and The Chocolate Factory's trailer, his name is the only one SAID. Also, in this movie, in the beginning, his name appears with Tim Burton's right before they show the name of the movie. It's like he's above nature itself. He's a superb actor, but not a GOD.

+arkila enilo Yea, the story and the set was good enough. The Cgi only though, but im glad that they improved from rendering also. If they had better CGI Encantadia could air internationally like GoT
Drink everytime you hear the word CG
So amazing when I was younger.. I always watch this movie until now I'm 20yrs old .. she is amazing girl all the cast in this movie its so nice .. lucky. Me ..
Everything is created within the software (Autodesk Maya) - the room, furniture, lights and so on as if it were an animated movie. To create the character, Alice, they just used the actual footage of the actress as a reference of her movements and when they were done they removed it. Just like tracing a photo to capture someone's facial features, but drawing the background and whatever other details from your imagination.
It's sad to see Hollywood not treating cg companies with the respect they deserve
-isto se chama cultura ! Parabéns USA !
1:38 - 1:39 why the one actor doesn't have his head for a second o.O

verdade!
They are simply used in different environments. Green is almost always used outside, because most keying algorithms will also exclude the sky from the final result because of the blue color on a blue screen. Green is also a slightly brighter color meaning more data is recorded on the shoot. Green is generally more used, but both blue and green screens have equal usefulness in general.
Me encanta la magia del cine!!!!! XwX.
amazing effects i've ever seen!
Lol green is probably the actors hated colour after all the filming now XD
awesome VES presentation, so interesting!
An army of very talented people....
I found something about the scene at the beginning of this with Alice walking down the stairs felt lacking in environment depth. It felt kinda set-ish. Maybe not enough background mattes to give the impression of distance.
Anyone else notice that the curvy tree next to the door and the stairs in the beginning is also in sleepy hollow
AMAZING !!!
I'm curious. I know the Knaves armour is done in the computer and the armours reflective qualities are done later. We also see Mia wearing her armour costume for real. How did they remove the green reflection from the footage and add in the reflection of the CG world onto it
@konidsw2602

Its a thing called "despill". The compositor simply color corrects the green out of it. Actually sometimes in movies you can see whitish reflections that are the greenscreens color corrected...
@jalin8039

so they probably replaced all the reflections with the CG set as well as using despill
thanks for uploading this ^^
Ken Ralston is the man!
you'd be surprised how many scenes are paintings" in a lot of the classic movies before computer technology.
My fav movie
supper
Yeah, poor actors. Imagine all the other hundreds working on the digital environments etc.
THIS IS AMAZING
WTH IT DOES MAGIC !
Good job guys
Why did I watch this? The magic just died.
they used softwares autodesk maya, and nuke i think.
The first one is the best for this, I think, but they do the same thing.
👌👌👌
So what you want about this movie, but it's so cool.
amazing!
And directors favorite one
should they be done in any particular order or do all those videos have the same purpose?
that video link was cool! :D so that was an example of just tracking an environment that was already present in the footage, right? what about ur cg environment, like for example, the forests in wonderland, rather than a real environement, can you intitally model and texture it in that program too, or is it just for tracking and not modeling...idk im so confused... lol, this stuff is like greek to me??? and modeling and mild texturing is easy for me to understand, in autodesk maya anyway,....
Awesome! :-)
Wow!
It's Tim Burton, he can pull it off with or without!
I love Cat ♥__♥
*I want to fall down a rabbit hole..*
the CG environment has to be fully modeled first though, right?
how many times did he say CG

CG Alice in cg environment with CG enemy! ( not to spoil its name )
Uau
0 dislikes!
yes but "how" specifically would one do that? like what's the step by step process of doing that within Autodesk Maya? Any tutorials of what this technique is?
like how do you film a scene digitally, with a virtual camera? for example, at 1:21
nice
I think that it would be a cool movie tho, with puppets and such. more like star wars and the never ending story
Mia wasikowskaaa :*
So cool !!!!!!!!!! >~
Render Time = ∞
gue udah nonton 5 kali suer deh
what software do they use for 3D? anyone knows?
...but just difficult to do. advanced modeling anyway like if u were creating a realistic creature or environment of something. iv'e only worked with figures not landscapes or anything in terms of modeling, hardly successful. never completed.... UGGGH!! its so damn hard. need more assitance
somebody know wich 3D program they use in film like this ?
. . . O M G . . .
alice kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
I believe it's an abbreviation for computer generator
I need learn this
Nice work :))
I made it sound like its one of the most easiest thing to do..!
they would have been screwed if CG wanst created .___.
VERY INTERESTING !!! *AAAA*!!!!
Only two more impossible thoughts to go :)
Nah, they'd just have some VERY expensive sets.
Its Autodesk Maya
I agreen in that
So so clever.
Garfield: off with his mouth
А где перевод???
Chroma key wonderfull
0:40 wtf are those?!
really???it would be so cool if the real wonderland but even if it was real they wouldn't find it they'd just do what they did but there could be a real wonderland
