The live version of Love Hate Love in Seattle 1990. Hands down the most powerful and raw performance you'll ever see from this band.

Random Nobody most definitely
Layne Staley is considered to be one of the most influential rock voices of all time.
Jerry Cantrell can definitely cut it up on guitar. One of the best to come out of the 90's. He also shares vocal duties. Check out "Down in a hole" it's a beautiful song.
Dirt is best album ever. Facelift is top 20 ever. WE need both albums song by song.

You reminded of that song from Heart: "Ring them bells ft Layne Staley" Amazing song with three amazing singers
Your charismatic and exuberant energy is off the charts. Just discovered your channel today. You rock!
Might be the best reaction I ever seen. I’m glad you loved Alice.
I love you sm, love these reactions. So many of these are classics and I'm so happy you dig this!!
Someone here suggested Candlebox (of the same era of Alice In Chains), and I second that motion. They have many hits, just off of ONE CD alone, "Far Behind", and "Change" is my two favorites.
This song was such a game changer when it first came out... They kicked the door in, and let the old guard know they had to evolve or die.
Honey you aint heard nothing yet from Alice in Chains. Layne Staley has an amazing voice. His lyrics are very dark and dirgeful. He writes songs about his own life which is crazy to say the least. Love Hate Love Would Down in a Hole Rooster Again Must plays!!!! You will be a fan

Jerry Cantrell actually writes most of the songs.
Such a great reaction to this song. Thank you!
Another 90's band to lend your ears to is Pearl Jam -- "Black," "Daughter," "Better Man," among other songs. But I think you would have more fun somewhere in the funky space between John Lee Hooker and Lynyrd Skynyrd that you might find listening to 70's era ZZ Top -- "Just Got Paid," "La Grange," "Nationwide," "Cheap Sunglasses," "Tush," ...
I once heard someone describe Jerry Cantrell's tone on the verse sections of this track as an idling diesel engine, and the choruses as mashing the throttle on the engine. That's pretty accurate.
new subscriber here. just discovered you over the christmas break. love your excitement over the great rock bands. can't wait to see you discover all the new music.

Whow, you have gone to a whole other level with Alice in Chains. Please review "Would". You rock Scribe!
I remember hearing this song for the first time about 10 years ago playing the game Rock Band on Xbox 360 and I still play it a few times a year and there's nothing so satisfying as getting all the way through that thrash without an error and hearing it perfectly. An all time great Rock Band song. Lot's of videos of that. Oh and I loved your reaction to it. Oh and even 62 year olds love this song.
Ahh..not the censored version. Live at the moore version is unreal
Yeah, this was a song that introduced Alice In Chains to the main stream. Myself included. It was just the surface...
Another great reaction to a great rock song. Rock has always morphed and changed and yet it is still rock. Enjoying all your reactions even though I don't always comment on them.
I love your reactions❤
I love this song. Glad you are reviewing it
Song still gives me chills.
You should check out the band Pearl Jam as well, "Even Flow" "Alive" "Do The Evolution"
Not sure if you knew about these fellows prior to reacting to them but this is like one of my favorite bands of all time. You can't help but feel this music. Thank you 🤘😎🤘
It does have a dark vibe. An incredible band!!! I'm happy that you like Alice In Chains.

Down In A Hole
It's a song about censorship which, showing that irony is a thing, got censored. "Shove my nose in SPIT." Yeah. That's not the line. This album came out when I was in high school and it absolutely blew me away. Layne Staley had a wonderful voice and was seriously tortured. The guitar player is Jerry Cantrell and he and Layne were amazing together. Love, Hate, Love and Nutshell will both rock your world. Go for the live versions of both. You won't regret it.
You seemed to really dig AIC's breakout hit. This was early 90's and just beginning the Grunge Seattle scene. You should check out more. Their harmonies on other songs are just sick. You should check out: Would, The Rooster, No Excuses, Angry Chair, I Stay Away, and more. Sadly, the lead singer passed away some time back. The band has carried on with a new singer with a similar vibe. But there is only one Layne Staley. But you should definitely check out more AIC. I think as a musician you'd appreciate the composition and production work. As their earlier stuff is really raw and full of passion. Great reaction 😉👍🏻
I remember when I first heard this in the early 90s it didn’t really sound like anything else I’d heard at that point it had that grunge feel but it was a little heavier which I liked being a metal fan and had a little funk and soul to it. I fell in love and never looked back
an even better one is called "would?", great choice though
Check out Love Hate Love live! His singing is on another level you gotta see it.
Also her perception of music and tone vs the fans of the genres perception is so close yet so different. I wish she would react my whole playlist.
The reason I started loving music this man also jerry is a fn god
This was produced by Brian Carlstrom, (RIP) my neighbor Mick's best friend in high school. He said "these young guys came in .......high as fark, and played like a mthrfkr until I told 'em to quit." - Like "Freaks on a Leash" if you will. All true.
Your rock/metal/stank face on this one was classic!
Hes saying "Feed my eyes.." then"...you sew the SHUT!"
"Let's go Alice in Chains! let's go!!" LOL. You're funny & very observant. The song was written by their singer, Layne Staley, who often wrote about his crippling addiction to heroin, which eventually took his life in 2002. - Next check out the song Rooster & Would, and the "MTV Unplugged" concert they did in 1996. THe harmonies will blow you away. ;)

Layne said this song was about censorship, and that he was high when he wrote it. Jerry Cantrell actually wrote most of their songs, lyrics and music, It wasn't all Layne writing about drug addiction like a lot of people assume.
One of my favorite bands from the 90s
Boy, you get into it
Gotta go with 'We Die Young' for a next dip into the AIC pool! Awesome reaction! New subscriber!
So glad you rock with Alice in Chains. This is grunge you are listening to now. It is a darker rock genre...made darker by the lead singer Layne Staley and the lyrics. Much of it about drugs. Layne unfortunately passed away. Their track "Would" is excellent...original video version.
That is funky!!!
Scribe, yup, you noticed the dark sound of Alice In Chains. That was pretty much their trademark. Nothing like them, before or since.
Oh just love your reactions you have a great ear. Ya gotta do more AIC.... and speaking of Alice.. did you do Alice Cooper yet? Ballad of Dwight Fry- studio version is best. Just love ya!!
Ahh....one of my favorite bands from the early 90s explosion
The first time I heard this song I was on a road trip with my dad, going trout fishing in Northwest South Carolina. He tried to change the channel, I told him to keep his filthy fingers off my radio knobs. I was 25.
you're in a direct path towards metal, pretty soon you'll be rocking to Arch Enemy, great reactions :)

@@theunknownpikachu2444 Totally... the way he sings "I'm the dog who gets beat...shove my nose in SHIT" is so amazingly evocative... "...shove my nose in SPIT", well, it doesn't even make any sense really.

That, completely seriously, got an out loud guffaw from me. I love AiC, they're one of my top 3 all-time bands, but I don't think ANYONE has EVER described their music as "uplifting" before. That is not a description I have ever seen attributed to them. If the intention is that it can be affirming to people who need affirmation, I agree. If you mean relatable, I can easily see it. But uplifting in its usual sense of making people feel better about the world? I'm blind on that one. Please don't mistake me: if YOU find it uplifting, great. I hope that continues. Just... that would be an outlying opinion of their music.

I do find it uplifting. I own a courier service and have driven over 3,000,000 miles. When I sing songs that some consider depressing it gets those feelings out of me. Afterwards I feel great. Uplifted.

I'm with u on that. Depends on whats going on in my life i'll listen to Alice in Chains, Drain STH, A Pale Horse Named Death, Type O Negative, My Dying Bride, Theatre of Tragedy which all these bands can have a depressing sound but uplifting if u understand them and are on the right track in life. Or just focused on music and not so deep into the lyrics. Saved me from suicide or going crazy in a way. Down in a Hole is a good pick.

Yes Radiohead is supposed to be way too depressing for people but if you lose someone close to you sometimes so-called sad music can be cathartic.
Lane was trained by the same guy who trained Geoff Tate of Queensryche, and AIC was influenced heavily by Metallica

The entire album 'Dirt' is an absolute classic from 1992....and It's a bit after the genre I grew up on but their is not a single bad track on it, every song is addictive and I find myself playing it in it's entirety every time......."Rooster" I think is about the lead singers father....Excellent, very deep war song. Vocals and guitar are stellar...everything is..Please do some more.
I recommend some Sound Garden next. Maybe Spoon Man. You rock!!!
$C, if you wanna hear sumthin' funky and cool as a pineapple popsicle, react to "Waitin' for the Bus" (studio version) by ZZ Top. There's a tasty little treat that comes with it...
Yeah ,Rooster is about the guitarist’s father who when serving in Vietnam got the nickname Rooster because of his red hair. Yeah very heavy song about his dad and the war. Also, you want a kick in the pants? Them bones. Peace, Phil
personally, my favorite is Heaven Beside You because of how rich the vocals are
