I know people could miss Layne, I do too but, MAN, I only see comments about him. Man, at least they are still rocking! Other bands could just stop making songs after a member is dead, but Alice in Chains' boys live forever!!

I think its more they should have changed the bands name with layne and mike being dead so a lot of ppl feel they should have changed name my self included it seams almost disrespectful when layne was in alice it had alot of music layne had wrote about the struggles in his life with his addictions to have some one else sing it seams wrong its another mans pain and struggles so it wont sound right and it makes it more about music than it was about the people that made the music layne was one of a kind

Fucking A! This has always been my favorite band and they’ve improved tremendously over time and with each new label they make. Duvall is an amazing asset to the band, while we all know that Layne can’t be replaced, Duvall doesn’t try to do that. He does his own thing and he’s fucking bad ass at it too. Long live the Chain!

The first time I heard AiC "Black Gives Way to Blue" it immediately manifested my own personal feelings of death that I've experienced throughout my life...especially the most important ones. This is one of the most beautiful and saddest songs ever composed. A short song yet more than long enough to breed catharsis... I can't imagine Jerry playing this live. It took me awhile as a fan to hear this song without shedding a tear. RIP Layne, Mike and all of our loved ones.

Duvall deserves a award for biggest balls in Rock metal history. Not only does he do justice to Layne, he also has his own influence in AIC. Noone else could of done it. Golf clap!!

Yeah, their last tour with Layne was a set of (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong) 7 shows, all of them opening up for Kiss. That was the entire tour for the Self-Titled/Tripod album cycle, they didn't do any other shows for that album, unless you count MTV Unplugged.

One of the most genuine interviews/talks from these guys, they truly are the real deal...

heartbreaking to hear them talk about how heavy that grief was, so heavy that it affected their physical health. it takes bravery to get back up on that stage and keep the legacy especially while having to see/hear criticism from fans of layne-era aic. I'm beyond proud of them and william has been good for the band ❤

what's up with this "give old AIC back" shit? they're NOT trying to replace layne, they're trying to move on. FFS people stop bitching about it like you know what the fuck they're going through.

This is amazing. When I heard Jerry stating he suffered migraines for weeks after finishing BGWTB, I thought about the movie Butterfly Effect, where Ethan re-wires his brain and changes his memories. Almost like Jerry had to bring all these stored emotions and memories from one part of his brains hard-drive to another where he was able to finally let go of it for good and all the pain that caused. Alice in Chains is my favorite band and I am so happy that they were able to come together again and find another soul like Rob Duvall to carry their legacy in such a perfect way.

The group consensus is that they would only re group if they could approach the future of the band in a manner that honors Layne. And as a day one fan of AIC here we are in 2022 and they are doing just that. Also, Jerry the new solo album “Brighten” is an incredible group of songs.

I appreciate that the rest of the guys are back making music and that William has become his own singer, but damn do I miss Layne. I get so bummed when I see these videos without him and hear his once in a lifetime voice.

PianoGirl His soaring vocals superseded even Chris Cornell and Robert Plant, and I hold no bands higher than Zep and Soundgarden generally. They have been a comfort for decades, but AIC has been a baseline.

Layne was amazing. I miss him. But I just saw Jerry Cantrell on tour in NY Sunday and he was incredible. Played many AIC songs as well.

it's said that the very cells in your body can "remember" and hang onto emotional trauma, and with being as close as Jerry and Layne were (Jerry's lyrics say "two running as one", guh, my heart), it's no wonder he had to cough up a giant hairball of grief. Once they got going on the album, and gave Layne a "proper" goodbye, he said all of his health issues miraculously disappeared. Amazing. It's even more amazing how one person could affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world, even _decades_ after his death! It'll be exactly 20 years in 4 days... 💔💔💔

Are you serious? No AIC without Layne? Layne was awesome, I'll give you that... But this is Jerry's band. He has alway been the principal songwriter, he is one of the greatest rock guitarists around, and his vocal leads and harmonies permiate every AIC release. As long as there is a Jerry Cantrell, and a Sean Kinney, there will be the REAL Alice In Chains!!! Rock on guys!

@@marademion_starr8982 AIC is an exception of bands who can continue after losing a vocalist. Cantrell was always the leader of the group, even though it was Layne's vocals that kicked off their success. David Gilmour did just fine with Pink Floyd after Roger Waters got kicked out. Not every great band is hinged on one man like Nirvana, Queen and Soundgarden. Now march your rear end into the kitchen and make me a damn sandwich.

No dis to William or Mike, but AIC kinda have that VH dynamic where it’s Eddie and Alex, and then you got the other two. Duuude, I love William and Mike but that’s just kinda how I see it. Obviously it couldn’t be AIC with anyone else.

I found the laundromat scene very interesting. The way they walked the basket of clothes in....almost as if they were pallbearers...and the whole washing of the clothes...cleaning up...quietly watching as the clothes tumble with BGWTB playing quietly in the background...VERY symbolic,...all of it.

jerry cantrell inspired me to be a musician and alice in chains are a HUGE part of my life and i was fortunate to have been "blessed" by jerry cantrell when he noticed me in the crowd. he winks and gives me the thumbs up as i yelled out "no excuses!" it was that moment, i rekon was the best night of my life. Now i am just about 10 songs into my first album. My one day dream is to perform with alice in chains, just a song or 2 and personaly become friends with jerry, william, mike and sean.

9:29 jerry blew smoke in the make-up artist face.

I was lucky enough to not only go to the emp concert but was handed the guitar pick from Jerry! I’m wearing the white hat and white shirt in the photos of the concert. I got to hang out with William during the laser light show that followed the 5 song acoustic show and have to say he the absolute best fit for the band! Love that guy! If by chance u ever see this William THANK U for saving my seat with u. That night meant so much! And Mike, my son DID get the concert tag u personalized for him!! Best concert EVER! Alice In Chains will always hold a special place in my heart! Thank u so much guys!! Keep rockin! Till next time!

I've been wondering if this Kiss makeup is a reference to the fact that they played their last shows with Layne opening for Kiss...

It's well known that Alice in Chains are all massive KISS fans. And getting their faces painted was probably just their fun idea of doing what would normally be a fairly boring interview about the new album. They like to fuck things up a bit and have fun. Especially with their fans.

I love this band so much and Mike was right, they are family, brothers... not just players in a band. Their hearts are so honest about their loss and missing Layne and Mike Starr. Life has to go forward and it was a very very hard transition. God bless those guys♡♡

This is one of the wildest ideas for an "Electronic Press Kit" (there... "EPK" spelled out)... what a crazy cool idea and concept, and a fantastic set of interviews ... a great tribute to Layne as they all move on with music, a new lineup with William and Jerry both (smartly) out front... moving on with life. Bravo.

Um...I think it's Jerry "talking" to Layne about his actions, and how his addiction was wearing down those around him ("hide...everyone knows"..."negative, all you've been") Jerry never showed it, of course, but it's obvious he was sick and tired of it (who wouldn't be?). The song speaks of needing to move on with one's life, but Layne couldn't do that, or he refused to do that, he wanted to remain in his self-made cocoon of hate and negativity, kind of like a vampire who gets touched by the sun's rays. Jerry's lyrics will make you WEEP, WAIL AND BLEEEED. 😭😭😭
