@Jordysegs8911 ай бұрын
I’ve seen Wicked on West end (with Alice Fearn and Sophie Evans) and broadway (Lindsay Pierce and Kara Lindsay) and I can safely say the West End’s wicked is far superior. Their vocalists are much stronger and the whole production is insanely slick (even with the wizard head malfunctioning on the night I saw). Broadway felt more like just another day in the office for the cast. They all seemed bored from doing the show so much and there was no spark, no magic from anyone in the cast. The dancers especially were very sloppy and out of time with each other in certain moments. The west end gets the gold from me

@@SamuelMay2059 As an American I was pleased to see that the UK Wicked is not done in the original's American accent because it makes sense. Idina Menzel did it for the opening with an American accent but when Kerry Ellis took over for Idina Menzel in London it was more of "English accent?" That eventually became American accent-free. I'm not sure. At any rate, Who's to say what an Ozian accent is? Of course in shows such as 'Hamilton' or '42nd Street,' it makes sense. Also for some of the more obscure posts, when a location is not specified and I am unfamiliar with the performer, the accent will give me a clue. For example, Americans tend to pronounce "Gravity" as "Grav-Uh-Dee" and Brits, a more proper (IMO) "Grav-i-Tee." All in all, it's great fun, and as far as I am concerned the more global Wicked is the better. I'll take Willemijn in Dutch and German anytime over some of the Elphies I am not a fan of in English.
