This is a awesome album. Glad you are continuing the Alice Cooper journey 🔥🤘🔥Listen out for hints of only women bleed in music of 'the awakening'
A lot of dumb people at first thought he was singing about a woman's menstruel cycle on "Only Women Bleed". Just like his song "Dead Babies" isn't about killing babies or anything other than the fact it's an anti child abuse/neglect song. I love in "Department Of Youth" the mention at the end that Donny Osmond gave them the power-too funny. "Cold Ethyl is a great rockin' tune which Slash of GnR loves and has its own interpretations and has the dueling guitars of Steve and Dick. The mention of refrigerator heaven is a throwback to a song of that title off his second album "Easy Action".

All songs are inside the concept but are also their own...Department of youth can be seen as a persons escape to youthood as a defensive messure to handle guilt.
I'll make a more in depth comment once you've completed the album, but for now I'll keep to Department of Youth. This song really has no place in the nightmare concept but was put on the album to be released as a single. A teen anthem in the vein of "I'm Eighteen" and "Schools Out". If I'm not mistaken it was the first single released from the album. Not sure how it charted but I think it was in the top 100 on BIllboard. Did a little better in the UK and may have gone to #1 in Australia. As a matter of fact, whenever Alice performs in Australia Department of Youth is always added to the set list. In 2020 Alice performed at the FireFight for Australia when they were having such catostophic wildfires. They opened their short set with Department of Youth. I've never been entirely sure of how department of youth fits into to welcome to your nightmare. Only thing I can think is the new department of youth is the nightmare for the old establishment who don't want revolution or things to rock the boat of status quo.

One possible interpretation is that the Alice character is actually enjoying this part of the dream, at least until the youth in the crowd declare their allegiance to Donny Osmond. A different interpretation could be that the Alice Cooper group had viewed themselves as outsiders in relation to the then recent flower power youth culture, which was perceived to accelerate the American withdrawal from Vietnam. What if the youth culture evolved into militant communism, wouldn't that be a nightmare?

What is the essence of a nightmare, if not a feeling of seeing events spiral out of control, while you have no one that you can relate to? Who is the narrator in this version of "Only Women Bleed", where "he" rather than "I" doesn't come home at all? Why doesn't the narrator intervene? Is he the same person, who takes charge of the "Department of Youth", hellbent on assuming power, despite ignorance of and indifference to the plight of this whole stupid world? The pleasure seeking individual in "Cold Ethyl" may be just drinking ice cold ethyl alcohol or he may have found a corpse in "refrigerator heaven" (probably a comparison between the two is intended!), either way he is not a person you can relate to and the situation has really spiralled out of control ...
And who gave it to you? Donny Osmond!

Well ! This Song might be true in the western countrys , but not in AFRICA ! In AFRICA the women has the POWER at HOME and over the MONEY and the HUSBAND ! The HUSBAND can be the hardcore LIONKILLER out there , but at HOME he is just a SHEEP and his WIFE is the true LION ! If you have to choose between fighting a real lion or an AFRICAN WIFE , you better choose the Lion ! You would have at least a small chance to survive ! 😂😂😂🤣

Actually that's not true at all. Globally, Africa has the highest rate of cases of violence against women. Many African women experience intimate partner abuse and sexual assault early in life because they either marry in their teenage years or have immature sexual relationships.
