@danid251
2 жыл бұрын
Basically knowing these topics and being able to understand them puts you in the range of getting a 7 to a 9, which is equivalent to a 7 being an A and a 9 being an A*. I hope this makes sense !

for 12:38 if i did 2n-2 + 2n + 2n +2 is that fine, as i still get the multiple of six part and that they are consecutive
At 17:25 could you have used 2n+2 and 2n+4 as it does say ANY consecutive even numbers?
Thank you for this great video. I understand most of proof now, but I'm still stuck on proof where u have numbers to a large power. Questions like prove 2^64 - 1 is not prime. How can I go about solving such problems and do I even need to know them for the GCSE spec?
@TheGCSEMathsTutor
4 жыл бұрын
That is a very unique question, basically you have to complete the square and then it forms a difference of two squares, so 2^64-1=(2^32)^2-1^2=(2^32+1)(2^32-1) then you can see that it is two numbers multiplied together and hence can not be prime. I would say this is an unlikely GCSE question but then I certainly wouldn’t rule it out! Algebraic proof always comes down to factorising, this is just a particularly difficult one to spot how to do!
@KC-zp4uq

@@TheGCSEMathsTutor Thank you so much. I'll just try to do more practice on proof and hopefully I'll recognise when u need to factorise.

on math genie when checking the answers the format is completely different, is there multiple ways of proving?
For question 2. At 18:00 I got 4(n^2+3n+1) would this still be right please, thank you so much.
@strawbeary.6501
Жыл бұрын
I don't think it would be
6:38, n^2+n+n+1 would factorise to, n^2+n+n+1 = n(n+1)n+1? meaning its n(n+1)(n+1) ?
No im so confused
@TheGCSEMathsTutor
4 жыл бұрын
Which part? 😁🙏🏼
WHY DOES EVEN HAVE TO BE 2N AND ODD HAVE TO BE 2N+1?. THAT IS THE ONLY THING I DON'T UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE ALGEBRAIC PROOF.
@TheGCSEMathsTutor
4 жыл бұрын
Ohimaio20 If you multiply any number by 2 it will always be even, give it a go, pick any number and multiply it by 2 and you will find it is always even (2n), likewise, if you add 1 to any of those you will find that they will always be odd, hence the (2n+1) - Hope this helps!
@eljask
3 жыл бұрын
Idk if this example helps but let's test it. Let's take an even number like 6. It can also be expressed as 6=2*3 and 12=2*6. So lets take any number and multiply it by 2 it will always give you an even number. Therefore 2n is factual where n is the any number Then lets take an odd number 7. It can be expressed as 7=2*3+1 so it is 2n+1 where n=3. And also n can be any number possible.
Do you have to write a statement for every proof?
for that second question I let n+1 = x and then said that (x)(x) = (x)^2 would that be right still?
13:37 will the odd number be always 2n+1?
you know theres something like algebraic proof involving right angle triangles how do you do it
Does this normally come up on a GCSE higher paper?

Aaryan Ramani That entirely depends on your comfortability working with negatives, I would say it’s the same difficulty but some students may find it more difficult as you have the be more aware of using negative numbers.
