Alfredo kraus is some of the best tenor have spain pproduced , and he sang the zarzuelas with such gusto you allways love that marvelous voice

I don't believe the other voices were equal to Dame Joan Sutherland. She was a marvel and exquisite. Because she was so good and the others were not I could not up vote it.

Pretty great that they both sang the High C sharp at the end...(or D flat?)😁

Eduardo Braivein yes it was, last in Australia was 1986. This was 1988 in Barcelona and her last!

Alun Rhys Williams performed Norma in 1989 in Detroit , Lucrezia in Barcelona then the Paris concert, then the Merry Widow in Dallas. Hugenots in 1990 in Sydney. When did she sing Lucia in Australia after this 1988 performance in Barcelona?

Alun Rhys Williams no probs! I just remember there was an interview on here on Spanish TV and a lot of extracts from these performances and billed as her last so it stuck in my mind as being a very special series of recordings!

Qualita di suono non-ascoltabile. Cmq. e bello ricordarsi. Mentre solamente 30 anni (!!!!) l'arte lirica e caduta sul livello piu basso possibile! I cantati moderni e sopra tutto direttori moderni sono UNA VERGOGNA!

This is what happens when you don't know when to call it quits in time .He should have retired this or next year , she should have retired years sooner .Neither did . Oh well

Apparently not .Probably not enough grey cells to produce electric impulse ,never mind original thought. Para empezar no es un aria es un sexteto ignorante!!! Y al final del sexteto la que se debe de escuchar es la soprano, así está escrito. Mal nick te pusiste.

Por cierto, no se si sabes que esta fue la última Lucia que interpretó la Stupenda pero que las arias principales suyas las tuvo que cantar bajadas de tonalidad.

Precisamente, es además irónico que alguien con el nombre de dos de los compositores que el Maestro Kraus hizo gala ose decir semejante improperio. En primera porque esta parte cantada no es un aria Verista, donde hay que chillar a muerte, gritar con las venas enrojecidas y las cuerdas vocales a reventar para demostrar que se tiene voz y mucha, en este campo mi apreciado " Bellini Donizetti " además de la voz hace falta cabeza, mucho cerebro, hay que saber dosificar correctamente la voz, a tal punto que debe de existir además una justificación entre el texto y música, en otras palabras para interpretar el belcanto se debe de ser ante todo muy inteligente. No todo es grito y gola, algunos sabían lo que hacían, porque además CANTABAN DE EXCELENTE A MAGISTRAL. Ahí estaba Kraus, incluso un poco más allá de MAGISTRAL, justo donde comienza y termina el término SUBLIME. Por si no se ha dado cuenta ya le digo yo que esto no es un aria, esto es un sexteto, escrito por el compositor para no precisamente hacer un lucimiento individual de los solistas, sinó además por ser UN SEXTETO, (como ya le he dicho antes) lograr un ensamblaje vocal de acuerdo a lo escrito en la partitura. Y creo que debería de volver a escuchar este fragmento de la grabación, porque aquí al final ocurre justamente lo contrario, es el timbre de el Maestro Kraus quien trasciende al de la Gran Soprano Joan Sutherland, la cual interpretaba su última Lucia, algo que Kraus logró llegar a hacer otros 10 años más.
