Let me introduce you to one of my favourite poems.
I have always adored Tennyson’s The Lady of Shalott, and also really love many of the fine paintings that have been created to illustrate it, so I have recorded the poem for you and illustrated it with works by John William Waterhouse, Lizzie Siddal, John Atkinson Grimshaw, and others.

So timely Susannah, as this poem was the inspiration behind my Shalott trilogy for teenagers, recently re-released. Five teenagers set out to change the legend and 'save' the Lady of Shalott - but instead find they're rewriting their own lives, and maybe even creating part of the legend itself? Have you heard the lovely sung version of this poem by Loreena McKennit?
