He's the best! I have this on my iTunes played by Alfred Brendel and it's a piece I listen the most! It's a master piece, master play!

Thank you for this Brendel never disappoints. I marvel at his confidence, and the way he absorbs the music into his inmost self. It is part of him. He is my favorite pianist.

Wow! So glad I stumbled upon this. One of my favorite Piano Concertos. Brendel is magnificent and we get the New York Philharmonic as well! This is a particular treat for me as I had private study with one of the Bassists here, William Blossom at the 1:48 mark, left side. He had an outstanding beard and is an amazing Bassist. This brings me back to the early 1980's when I was in College. Thank you for posting.

hi. many thanks for this video. i had it, but in very poor condition. it is part of an entire cycle of all beethoven concertos under brendel, apparently not just this was broadcasted. have you this one in a better quality? are you available for trade? have you any other rare on brendel, even in this cycle?. many thanks again

He captures some of the rolling majestic quality but it is still too fast. There’s a lot of music in there that is rushed over.

Why does he always do a subito piano whenever he reaches a high note in the very beginning?

that's why he felt the contrast in a phrase,the sound "piano "made a breathing and restarted a new phrase.... I called it : choc emotion.

Actually the isn't bad for Brendel. Can sound a bit square at times, but when inspired is good. i have attended his concerts many times. His last Beethoven Sonata cycle was on the whole excellent.

Please note how Dicterow winces at 2:16 when he hears a second violin play a wrong note (E instead of F) at 2:15. Priceless. Funny and not so funny. I wonder who it was.

IMHO, poor old Kurt is a bit past it, and lets Alfred down a few times. (An aside: Kurt's silly elbow movements at times of Tutti are not at all in the unbridled spirit of Ludwig. Just one of many probs.)
