Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA (1965) Ex Nanni Galli + OnBoard - Kateyama Test Days at Misano Circuit

I was pleased to film this extraordinary 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA ex Nanni Galli at the Misano Adriatico circuit during recent test days organized by Kateyama. I have to thank the Dutch owner Alessandro Van Hellenberg Hubar and Nicky Pastorelli of Pastorelli Classic Cars (pastorelli-classics.com) for being very kind and let me make some OnBoard clips. It was a real surprise to see this car hit the track, presumably due to the optimal set-up because of the Modena Cento Ore Classic race that it recently held. I pleasantly chatted with the owner who showed me the car, completely original, chassis number 613013, telling me he had a lot of material, especially original photographs of the legendary Nanninni Galli at the wheel. His signature is still visible on the left door. With this car in 1966, the Tuscan driver finished second overall in the FISA Cup in Monza. Also, the driver Angelo Roberto Chiapparini later used it to compete in other races. I make no secret of being a great fan of vintage Alfa Romeos. The "Gran Turismo Alleggerita" prepared by Autodelta is a specially lightened version for sports homologation with an aluminium body. With a weight of just over 700 kg combined with the 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine capable of delivering 170 hp (125 kW), the queen of touring races has achieved countless successes. Thanks to Nanni Galli, Carlo Facetti, Teodoro Zeccoli, Spartaco Dini, Gian Luigi Picchi, won races on the best European circuits such as Nurburgring Spa, Monza, Zandvoort and many others. Enjoy! 😉
Ho avuto il piacere di filmare questa straordinaria Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA del 1965 ex Nanni Galli sulla pista di Misano Adriatico durante recenti test days organizzati da Kateyama. Devo ringraziare enormemente il proprietario olandese Alessandro Van Hellenberg Hubar e Nicky Pastorelli della Pastorelli Classic Cars (pastorelli-classics.com) per essere stati molto gentili nei miei confronti ed avermi permesso di realizzare alcuni filmati OnBoard. E' stata una vera sopresa vedere questa vettura, scendere in pista, presumibilmente per l'ottimale messa a punto in vistta della gara Modena Cento Ore Classic che ha recentemente disputato. Ho piacevolmente scambiato alcune chiacchiere con il proprietario il quale mi ha mostrato la vettura, completamente originale, numero di telaio 613013 raccontandomi di avere molto materiale, in special modo fotografie originali del mitico Nanninni Galli al volante. Sulla portiera sinistra è ancora visibile la sua firma. Con questa vettura nel 1966 il pilota toscano è arrivato secondo assoluto alla Coppa FISA di Monza ed anche il pilota Angelo Roberto Chiapparini successivamente la utilizzò per disputare altre gare. Non faccio mistero di essere un grande appassionato di Alfa Romeo d'epoca e questa "Gran Turismo Alleggerita" preparata dall'Autodelta è una versione appositamente alleggerita per l’omologazione sportiva dotata di carrozzeria in alluminio. Con un peso poco superiore ai 700 kg abbinato al motore 4 cilindri da 1.6-Litri in grado di erogare 170 CV (125 kW) la regina delle gare turismo ha mietuto innumerevoli successi. Grazie a piloti come Nanni Galli, Carlo Facetti, Teodoro Zeccoli, Spartaco Dini, Gian Luigi Picchi si è imposta sui migliori circuiti europei quali Nurburgring, Spa, Monza, Zandvoort e tanti altri. Congratulations on the wonderful car, if I could afford one like yours I wouldn't think twice about buying it. Having this type of Alfa Romeo in the garage is a dream. A lucky few can afford a GTA; I'd settle for much less. I like to insert subtitles; I want to give additional information. The owner was very nice to me, and he told me some things that he made me happy to share with you. Be proud of your Alfa Romeo; it's a fantastic car 😉👍

I got to see a racetrack full of these at the SVRA event sponsored by Alfa at Virginia International Raceway. They could lift a wheel in corners the chassis is so stiff.

Yes, on some occasions the lifting of the wheel is one of the characteristics of this car 😅

Vedi caro questa ne è la prova del discorso che abbiamo fatto ieri 😉😉😉😉, la storia del motorismo che non torna più, tra l' altro chissà quella Giulia quanti duelli e aneddoti avrà passato e vorrebbe raccontare. Certo che sentire il suono dello scarico semi libero e quella specie di risucchio di aria dai carburatori mi fa venire la pelle d'oca😨😨😨. E poi parlando di storia quale motore migliore di questo nelle corse abbia un palmares così vincente!!!!

Già, ti dirò che sarebbe da intervistare il proprietario, in possesso di tante fotografie originali con al volante Nanni Galli. Chissà quante cose avrebbe da dirci, si potrebbe ripercorrere l'intera storia dell'auto. Per quanto riguarda il video, si, mi piace tirare giù qualche carico pesante senza avvisarvi 😂 così quando vi arriva la notifica strabuzzate gli occhi 😂 Ci tenevo molto a fare un bel video di questa macchina e devo dire che tutto il team ed il proprietario sono stati estremante gentili. La GTA non ha bisogno di presentazioni, regina indiscussa delle gare Turismo negli 60 ed inizio 70. Un gran pel pezzo di storia Alfa-Romeo.

@@Italiansupercarvideo I always think, that, if I'm a concourse judge, I would always give my highest score to the car whose owner keeps on racing... and even if the car is the best-looking one of the whole show, if the car had been out only for the concourse and locked up in some secret lair the rest of the year, it won't get any high score from me...

This is because the gear linkage is internal to the box not external as with most other cars. Note how far forward is the base of the lever. In the street cars this feature provides a delightfully tactile feel of the gears meshing. If one made a miss-shift, one would feel it with the fingertips before one heard it with the ears!

I think I can state without major denials that the Dutch, after the Italians, are the people in Europe who love Alfa Romeos the most. I'm pleased to see many of them arrive in Italy for gatherings and races with these beautiful cars 😉👍

Hard on the sinchros , why dont you double clutch downshift ??? These cars require this kind of tecnique both for duration of sincros and for optimal speed , control and quickest time.

Este coche es muy valioso y el propietario no es joven. Hay que tener respeto por estos coches, no es un GTA reconstruido sino el original de Nanni Galli. Tiene un valor muy alto, incluso históricamente.

Schönes Auto, die Schaltung find ich aber echt Grotte, die Schaltwege finde ich viel zu lang. In der Firma wo ich früher beschäftigt war haben wir ja Schaltungen konstruiert und gebaut. Da hatte ich immer Schaltungen mit Ultra kurzen Schaltwegen und auch speziellen Schaltknöpfen. Jetzt in der neuen Firma bauen wir Resonatoren um die Turbo-Geräusche zu verringern. Wie überflüssig, ein echter Tuner baut die erst mal wieder raus und macht ein gutes Blow off rein damit der Turbo richtig arbeiten kann.

Ich denke, die Hebelwirkung der Giulia GTAs hat sich im Laufe der Zeit verbessert. Das hier abgebildete Exemplar, alles original, ist eine erste Serie aus dem Jahr 1965. Damals hatten die Getriebe diesen langen Hub. Ich weiß es zu schätzen, dass der Besitzer nichts angerührt hat und nicht auf die Idee verwickelt war, eine Einheit mit kürzeren Vorbauten oder engeren Kupplungen zu montieren.

@@Italiansupercarvideo Früher war das auch nicht viel anders möglich. Dann kamen Schaltgehäuse auf den Markt, erst als Stangenschaltung und dann als Kabelschaltung. Da hatte dann BMW echt die Nase vorne. Schaltung über Stange und fast direkt am Getriebe zum Beispiel beim E36. Alle Hersteller wollten auch so direkt schalten können und BMW war der Benchmark. Mercedes hat da immer voll verkackt, deshalb waren dann fast alle großen MB mit Automat. Beim SLK hatten sie dann die BMW Schaltung fast kopiert, fast wie Chinesen! Lach..

@@lutzhennecke6929 hahaha, interessant was du mir erzählt hast, ich wusste nichts davon. Wie Porsche hatte BMW schon immer die besten Getriebe unter den deutschen Autos, und ich würde definitiv sagen, dass sie zu den besten Handschaltgetrieben der Welt gehören 👍
