i traveled on a car with this exactly engine (another alfa romeo model but same exactly engine) with straigh pipe exhaust... it was so amazing
Finally review where somebody understands the 4c
I have the same engine in my Giulietta. Driving an Alfa Romeo is always special. You really let the viewer experience that feeling. Driving every Alfa Romeo is something special. The high output out of small engines, the steering, the sound, everything.
Cant beat Italians when it comes to design lines and what a growl this thing has ! Superb
By far the best 4c review! Great job!
This is my first comment on old test that they have been done on the 4C and you know what it was simply the best, not because you thrashed it around or you did all kinds of testing and came up with all kinds of numbers ,nor you did comparisons with other cars in its class , you simply drove it and you really loved it because a lot of us will never get the chance to drive it or much less own one , and you are absolutely absolved from willing to drive an Aztec as a daily driver just to have that in the garage . It's real passion you showed , I'm subscribing to your channel , it is my first u tube sub . My compliments to you .

+Antonio Amendola thank you sir. This was one of my early car reviews. The reaction you see on my face is genuine. In fact when I drive that car now I still get that feeling.
Man I'm jealous! I love everything about this car. Awesome car review. I also appreciate your other videos, especially since I own a 325i myself. =P
Wow, this was actually a decent review. Nicely done. People might start subscribing more often!
One of my top 5 Alfa 4C videos. Best quote "oh just what a thing"
I would have thought you would have gotten one of these by now? This video along with a few others helped my decide to pull the trigger on one last month! It is a beautiful thing! Love your reviews!
I just found TH about 2 weeks ago. It is the very best car review channel on YT. I am cracking up to see what a TH video looked and sounded like 6 years ago. Totally different world
Great review!! Thanx for the Canadian tuning info. I'm seriously looking at adding one of these to my garage: Gen 5 Viper GTS, AP1 S2000, WRX STi Hatch, 2015 Mustang.
Amazing to see how young he is. Haha. Great to see how far they have come today. This is also an amazing video on a beautiful car. Thanks TH.
This car made my love of driving so much more exciting.
cool oldie review! love the 4C
What a car! Awesome review man love your Channel
I was about to say that I missed James in here but then I noticed the video was 5 years old. It show has definitely gone the right direction.
Great review mate! Greetings from SA
A very enjoyable review, you have a great presenting style. I have had seven Alfas over the last 30 years, I hope to add a 4C to the list within the next year and this video is making me impatient for that day..

I watched that one prior to this and it was also very enjoyable, I have driven a few Lotuses and I expected the Exige to be a lot faster than the 4c, the fact that it wasn't is a huge testament to the abilities of the 4C.

@@ThrottleHouse If it’s that much better with just a tune, I bet you could probably get close to another 100hp with some bolt-on’s? Down pipe, headers, exhaust and maybe intercooler? Or is that an over estimate?
I battled this car (and even got to drive it) all year in autocross. It's too much and too good!
Great job. Knowing the 4c exists makes life worth living sir.❤
Great review
Great review!
Good review; thanks!
What a great review! I care about the emotions a car digs up. I have overlooked the 4C because of no manual. Maybe I should drive one to see what all the fuss is about. The Noises and Looks are to die for!!!
I think this video has convinced me to buy one
Nicely done.

Never thought you would get to drive some of the cars you drive now :)
Really you are amazing person you talk nice slow the people real they can understand what you say without being nerves God bless you 🙏👍
Never mind on the springs! Didn't see your shock video
Very good review, with a little bit of professional touch, a sneak peak under the hood would have been nice 😊, Still good vid👍. Do you have parking sensors on your e46? Would love a video on a neat and well positioned installation of a parking sensor/senors on a BMW e46 or your e46. Shouldn't be too expensive I think. Good work! thanks in advance.
Very Good review
If you get you a FIXD OBD2 gadget, you can tell how fast you get to 60. I have one stock and you are right this car is just a joy to drive and I have driven many sports cars, some borrowed some rented and some owned but none speak to me like the 4c. My wife says the bark is not a bark is a racoon snort. and if you have had a racoon talk to you when it is unhappy that is the sound. I hope you get one, and thank you for a well made video.
Its's really beautiful from out side
Nice review. Need a 0-60 time on the tuned version though.
That’s it , time to get one !
Spot on
I've always been a sucker for small, nippy, light vehicles. Unfortunately I am not in a place in life where I find myself passing a Maserati/Alpha dealership on my way to a Lotus dealership, so I bought a Ford Fiesta ST. Lol I don't know why throttle house never did a review on the Fiesta ST, they're pretty fun stock, but with a tune they really wake up. I absolutely love the 4C, but I've seen them priced pretty ridiculously. The only new one within 500 miles of me on AutoTrader is $88,000 US, and I'm pretty sure if you had that kind of money you can get a decked-out Ariel Atom with the Type R engine and even save money.
Never even contemplated buying any Alfa Romeo but I drove one at the suggestion of a friend and omg I had to have one. What a ridiculous price for literally a supercar, especially if you get lucky enough to find a leftover at deep discounts. Then you might feel guilty driving it away but not 4 long. It feels sub 4 seconds stock! I own 2 sub 4 sec cars, I can tell. Wow is what I say every time I drive it. Anyone who owns one is lucky and blessed. As a daily driver I would not buy this car as it does have supercar like compromises.
@raymondnewbill5294

Real Supercars are not so compromised these days, this thing is just so tiny there is no room for storage. These are like 0-60 in 4.4 sec stock arent they???
@deanoliver4051
3 жыл бұрын
@@raymondnewbill5294 Yes, this is what comes to your mind and to the majority. But beeing not so compromised is the first compromise! I love Supercars AND my 4C for its character. If I need storage I use my other car. And I will not win the Champions League with the Alfa. But I'm feeling alive. That is mostly my target, haha
@Throttle House...I have a Giulia that I adore, and I see Thomas enjoyed this 4C very much. If I'm following correctly, he's very high on the BMW M2 right now. While we're waiting for the quarantine to lift, I wonder if you guys have thought about doing a "Throttle House All-Time Top 10," or something like that. Mostly, I'm wondering where this 4C is in your heart now, versus something like the M240 or M2.
Great video! (but why was there a minute of silence at the end?)
Nice One...Grats :)
I want one too!
Hehe, the little Alfa 4C is so communicative because it has a fully manual steering rack. No power assist whatsoever; nothing diluting the communication between the road and your fingertips. I think it might be the only mass- produced car available now (at least here in the US) without power steering.
@ThrottleHouse

Lotus I think, has a similar steering philosophy.

Ah, yes, the Elise is manual, too. The Evora is powered, though.
This feels so different from videos today...growth, change, etc
Currently searching for an Elise or Exige in the US, would also consider one of these if only it had a manual option.
This car is my dream girl. 😍
Whoa Thomas is looking like a young Russell Crowe
Alfa😍😍❤️. How many horses does a "stage 2" tuning, with new Map, flow intake and exhaust?
This is the kind of car James would like 🤣

Could you give us a review on H&R lowering springs for your e46. I've heard it's the way to go for being able to lower, but still have drivability. but I don't know if I should bite the bullet...
@flunkie91
7 жыл бұрын
You get mixed reviews, and it depends on which ones. Touring, appear to have complaints about not lowering enough, sports have the tendency to not retain as much ride quality as people hoped for and I guess race springs don't really sit "even". I've read this on multiple threads for e36, etc, even e90 dude's have issues with the car being lower on the left side on even ground.
@flunkie91
7 жыл бұрын
But those are minor complaints. I love my h&r sports on my e36 coupe. They are firm, strong, lower 2 inches all around and coupled with bilsteins it's a pretty formidable combo on a non adjustable suspension budget!
Neat
So this was in 2016 and the Alfa commercial with "ride on the backs of dragons" was in 2017?
Nice review! Except it is a 1.780 cc, more like a 1.8L than a 1.7. Not by much, but I think it makes some difference in the end.

Try the 427 North from Toronto and then hang a right toward Ottawa - long trip but great roads. You don’t say where you are in Ontario so, sorry if that’s too far.
If FCA was healthier and could spare some extra $ to develop a N/A V6, say a 2.5l with 300hp at 9000rpm... Maybe with a Maranello touch, which is so frequently implied with QV models nowadays. It could be more expensive, yes, but they also could have gone with an aluminum body, the extra weight would be minimal. But even with that poor interior, it would be my dream car. The 1750Tbi engine is a fine modern motor but nothing special. And this car IS special.
that road looks smooth and very fun to drive. Where is it? thanks

Same engine as my dads 159, and ours is tuned to 250hp. Its a great little engine.

Damn
Manual steering is the best!!
Defenitely a drivers car
The Alfa Romeo 4C are much heavier in the US than everywhere else. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_4C The car weighs only 895 kilos everywhere else.
Here is what euopean production car manufacturers can do when Ford just introduce for 2016-17 their first Mustang equiped with IRS !

is this in anyone's recommended, or is it just me?
Its a 1752ccm, so its a 1.8 😉
The steering feedback sounds a lot like, no lie the Jeep Gladiator 😂. Which given the relation of the cars, okay.
15hp from a tune? That's not great tbh. Most 4c stage 1's are 265ish plus
And I’m .....James?
If only they had made this with a manual transmission.
Germans are not exclusive anymore, but Alfa Romeo is 😉
Walter White drove a beat up Pontiac Aztec & he had millions in the local storage unit.
This video is the perfect example of why NOT to buy this car ... Always being stuck behind someone is frustrating.... lol
I thought all north American 4Cs are spiders?
I would have considered one of these if they would have come in a manual

The car doesn’t even have power steering, that much will have both of your hands guaranteed anyway a manual gearbox would make the car very tedious to drive I’d imagine
