What a complete and well-rounded human being . So wonderful to hear him speak (what a thinker-there must be a lot of thinking before he even touches an instrument . I've seen very few recordings of his . Had no idea he and Muti recorded both Brahms ! Weissenberg is also a composer : He's written jazz , vocal songs ? Really loved hearing him speak . I've heard a lot of pianists speak and he really brings the truth . He was thrown out of a competition before winning the Leventritt and after playing Liszt Sonata the Naumberg was asked to leave ! The world is full of great thinking personalities who stay unknown . Weissenberg really thinks - he speaks about musicians judging at competitions . Difficulty is not playing fast , loud as in Bartok 2nd , Rach 3rd . Habits encrusted and absorbed - he talks about "physical system " . He talks so much and is really grounded talking about the war in Bulgaria and Palestine . Olga Samaroff and respecting the page - Schnabel wasn't thefirst to recognize the importance of identity , score reading , correct playing and lack of imagination . This is high-falutin stuff which reminds the listener most of us don't know what we're hearing . Samaroff could guess at the personality behind a musician and train them according to respecting how that could grow .

Thank greatly for this gift. There's simply nothing going on at present but daily lunatic tribulation and political news cycles. We need such reprises of continuity of higher ascendencies than our relative present era. Edited? Part 2 coming? Thanks DD.

You're welcome-- there's three Weissenberg-Dubal interviews at KZread-- I had to take the music out of them to prevent blocking.

This may have been a second take to this interview. Dubal mentioned in another interview that his producer "forgot" to record the first take.

Yes, I think you're right-- the producer Dubal called "the in-house monster" (b/c he could fark up without end and was never held to account) didn't record when he was supposed to, leading Weissenberg to push the "monster" up against the wall.....

@@noochinator "he sprang up like a panther and shouted:you aren't telling me the truth are you!?" I could see Weissenberg doing this 😆.
