Alexis Holmes won the women's 400m finals at the USATF Indoor Championship, setting a meet record with a world-leading time of 50.34 seconds. lexis Holmes, representing Nike WCS, won the race with a time of 50.34 seconds, which set a meet record (MR) and a world-leading time for the year (FRPB). She ran the first 200m in 23.70 seconds and the second 200m in 26.64 seconds. Holmes was in lane 5 and finished in position 1. Following her in second place, Talitha Diggs, representing Adidas WCS, finished with a time of 51.23 seconds. She ran the first 200m in 23.93 seconds and the second 200m in 27.30 seconds.

A crucial detail about Alexis's 50.34 win is that it was at altitude in Albuquerque, NM which roughly converts to 50.71 at sea level which is in line with her 50.77 sea level PB making her around 1.47s slower than Femke (49.24) & around 0.61s slower than Klaver (50.10) after this wkend! Talitha's 51.23 is roughly 51.60 at sea level; was hoping Quanera Hayes's 36.36 @South Carolina Invitational a few wks ago (#5 in the world this year) would translate into faster than her 51.76 in the 400m esp at altitude :(

Does altitude help 400m times? Seems oxygen debt counters less air resistance in this long sprint.
