The best short program ever period. Plushenko has done nothing that beats this. And in 2010 the US guy, well he was a bad joke

Plushenko has the Best long programme of all time! Nijinsky is untouchable!! people always compare the 2 skaters based on 2002, Winter is amazing, an inspired performance (one of the best piieces of choreography ever and so well skated) but Plushenko had some great SP's (moonlight sonata, once upon a time in mexico ,tosca Hava Nagila-back when he was 16) for me him and Yags were even in 98/99 (plushenko was more exiting but inconsistent, and Plushenko started to dominate-2000/2001 and then Yagudin was inspired in2002 and pretty much unbeatable, 2010 realy was a shame- Plushenko did the impossible coming back after 3 years out and he deserved the gold!

Well, I didn't really enjoy Nijinsky performance. Even though it was technically excellent. It was not a performance like Winter or the Gladiator (At skate Canada) that I'd watch again. Performance wise - Yaguding was the better of the two. Always. So Plushenko was never more exciting than Yagudin. While I do not argue that Plushenko was definitely more athletic Yagudin was the whole package - his choreography, costumes, music, the character were almost always better. Oh and don't forget the step sequences; Plushenko's Nijinsky sequence marred in comparison to Yag's Gladiator's. And yes in 2010 Plushenko was robbed of the Gold.

***** Well the best thing about the rivalry is that people can always disagree ! I agree about choreography sometimes (Yagudin had some of the best choeography ever but thats one of the reasons PLushenko was so good though- you could never take your eyes off him, even when he wan't skating the best material) and I don't see Plushenko as just an athlete. he danced on ice, even as a kid,Russian dance, Hava Nagila but hey we all like different things!. I love gladiator(even more than MITIM) but I don;t think the step sequence is better than some of Plushenko's. A lot of it is personality, Yagudin showed his emotions more and that was what some people love Plush was always a showman but he didn't show his feelings easy (makes sense really considering his childhood) Anyway they were both incredible skaters and there is nothing that compares now! it wasreally a shame about Vancouver.

Well, Mishin did literally leave Yagudin to his fate and became engaged with Plush. That's pretty devastating. I don't see how having any sort of childhood makes the lack of emotions understandable. It's not just Yagudin's show of emotions while skating. Now looking back at it, Yags was simply smarter and still is. Just a week ago Plushenko created a huge scandal over nothing, then wen't on making it even worse. Yagudin was also more intellectual, he had a way of connecting to the music that Plush lacked. It was like Plushenko did not feel the music, he was simply doing what Mishin told him to do. And one more reason I can relate to Yagudin more is that every time he pulled of a very hard element it seemed that he was competing with himself. and his face meant "Wow, I really did that, now I'm gonna work on something else". While every time Plushenko pulled off something amazing was like "I owned them all, look at me I'm just fabulous, aren't I?".

***** Ok, I think you are just attacking Plushenko now- so lets be honest, watch them skate at the Euros in 98, listen to what people said at the time, (for example that Yagudin had no artistry only jumps whereas Plushenko had real potential) Yagudin was taught how to connect with an audience and with the music, Tarasova spent a year teaching him that and he became a great performer. Plushenko never had Tarasova. As for expression-Please. Plushenko is famous for being lost in performances, he hardly ever reacted to what he did, brilliant or not, he stayed in character, so he will smile if he's doing a tango but not is he's skating tosca, He was also known for being a perfectionist and never being happy with what he had done, he came to Petersburg on his own, at 11, lived in a one room communal apartment with strangers and had not enough money to eat, Mishin helped him to survive and Plushenko was very loyal to Mishin because of that, winning was survival and stability for PLush, he wasn't unfeeling he was tough IN my OPINION, plushenko is one of the most responsive skaters to Music ever, and its subtle not showy, Candeloro said he was a skater who should have got higher component scores just for the emotions in his face, but what would he know. Yagudin was definately smarter, he left the coach who got him the world title and slagged him off to everyone and was very rude to a boy who was then 15, and yet he was always the good guy ! he skated to emotive music that manipulated the audience and he made the most of his pin up looks. I don't blame him- I do blame him for still not being able to leave Plushenko alone. (Plushenko did as the Russians ASKED and skated in 2014, he was incredible, then he had to stop, Kovtun and Tarsaova both congratulated him on his effort, Yagudin had to attack him -again. (like when he said PLushenko had no ability to live a life outside skating-what is it to do with him??) Mishin is Mishin, he doesn't really do emotional support, but that does not make him a monster! Mishin also couldn't help his believe that in Plushenko he had found his greatest ever pupil, I wonder how much you have actually seen Plush skate ? He was the most natural performer from frighteningly young age, he belonged on ice and made it look so easy, the speed and range of his steps even at 15? and he was so disciplined about improving (not easy when you are called the future of mens skating before you're 16th birthday. Yagudin was a a wonderful performer but Plushenko is one of the most unique, consistent, technically excellent and brilliant skaters ever. I also think he outdid Yagudin as an artist-but that is just an opinion

You should watch Kim Yuna's performance! I love her skating and she's elegant and expresses the Music well. I feel her emotions just by watching her skate. She's my all time favourite and she's only 20 this year :)
