Scale AI CEO Alexander Wang discusses the importance of data in AI development and the need for proper regulation. He highlights the sensitivity of AI models to the data they are trained on and the potential risks of using AI without careful consideration. Wang emphasizes the need for customization and testing of AI models to ensure their performance and safety. He also mentions Scale AI's role in labeling and filtering data to optimize AI models. Wang acknowledges the concerns raised by industry leaders about the risks of AI and the potential for misuse. He mentions Scale AI's collaboration with the White House for public evaluation and understanding of AI systems. Wang stresses the importance of collective expertise and diverse perspectives in developing AI technology and calls for collaboration among policymakers, industry, and civil society organizations. He mentions the need for proper testing and evaluation of AI models to mitigate risks. Wang also mentions Scale AI's collaboration with defense organizations and the importance of employing experts in specific domains to ensure the accuracy and relevance of data used in AI models. However, he refrains from providing specific details about the number of people employed by Scale AI. Wang acknowledges the need for further discussions and regulation in the early stages of AI development.

This is a guy to watch - but I wish he used fewer buzzwords. Still not clear to me after this interview what your company does and how you're a native vs being a tourist. What does it mean to be the platform for AI models etc.

They basically organize data into points that a machine can reference. AI can't train unless it knows what something is, what it means, and what it means in relation to its goals. Like a driving AI needs to know what a deer is, needs to know its not a car, doesnt follow the rules of the road etc.

While I don’t think anyone would want that I feel like subjects such as history, biology, food, knowledge, just like eldersgame, physics, sex and experience have a potential to be dangerous in that it can seem to temporarily benefit a few and harm others even though it’s a case of suicide wherein a few are adamant about not letting someone else know or benefit until someone who knows or have the resources let’s them know how or how not there can be long term side effects maybe even millions of years in the future unless you heal in some way or the other but I think everything is a romantic social or team work where you allow others knowledge and experience that you wish to have in the future maybe as well as it being a social case or work that we leave to god, the owner of the universe but I think maybe a mistake is when you share social and take care of embarrassments and something dumb happening and anger is when you share work and take care of fears and something bad happening

negative part of AI seems to be more dangerous , what if someone is training language models/ robots to operate AI weapons which may lack human control, ethics & accountability. Therefor it is matter of human responsibility and judgment to ensure that AI is used in a way that respects human dignity, rights, and values.

Why doesn’t this nice guy pay his global workers? Why does he take money from vulnerable workers and put the money into his own pockets? He needs to admit he has allowed this to happen and then change so that he stops exploiting vulnerable 3rd world workers. Check the article in the Washington Post 8/28/23.
