Probably what happened: The UFC told Volkov Sergei had accepted in an effort to get Volkov to accept the fight. Then they told Sergei that Volkov had accepted in an effort to get Sergei to accept. They hate teammates not fighting each other, so they're willing to pull this type of stuff to get the fight to happen. Did the same thing to Browne/Arlovski back in the day.

he said (which was not translated) .. ''that if you want the fight not to happen (talking about when Ali asked him not to accept) . then they should put more effort into that and not say i'll fight Volkov if he would accept it , putting me in a bad position where i can not decline the fight'' ... and thats what ended up happening .. if Volkov would decline the fight which the other side from the perspective of the UFC is willing to accept then it will only backlash in Volkovs face and he will be the ''runner and dodger'' and end up getting low or unranked fights in the future

@Userddd612 Yeah, but the last time they fought, it was in a smaller cage in the Apex, which really benefited Blaydes as the grappler. In a bigger cage with more room for Volkov to move it could possibly change the fight for Volkov but again, that's why I said I'm really not sure who would win a rematch but I do think Volkov would have a better chance in a bigger cage if it was in front of an audience

  • @kiabtoomlauj6249

He really is. His problems have been mostly bad luck, rather than pure lack of elite skills. He literally schooled Derrick the entirety of the fight, for example, until that last second, when Derrick pulled that KO out of his hot ass, something Derrick could easily do, when when he's totally "out" of a fight from a skill stand point.. and is being out pointed or taken down at will.... He could swing that black beast fist and that's that for the winning guy... Quite a few fights that Volkov EASILY dominated, if they hadn't had sudden ending against him like that, or if they hadn't gone to questionable decisions... he could have fought for the title.

@sirbrettvonbrettinger2730 I think what he doesn't get enough credit for is his durability and even at this stage he keeps improving. It's insane that Volkov has fought the number of heavy hitters he has fought and just in the last 8 years in the UFC he has only been caught 1 time in a fight he was dominating against Derrick Lewis but obv had a lapse in concentration and in what 48 fights only been KO'ed 2 times. Pretty crazy and he's fought pretty much everyone.
