Alex's legacy is secure IMO. - 20+ straight wins in MMA. - He beat Max (another featherweight legend) 3x, beat Aldo (previous featherweight legend). - 5 featherweight title defenses (& counting) He took a risk, got a massive payday & it didn't work out. No one should punish him for it. His legacy will only grow if he finds a way to win again at featherweight. I usually like to see a fighter take a full year off after a KO, but we'll see how this Topuria fight goes.

Yeah I think its a bad idea to fight again so soon. It wasn't just the head kick, it was getting his head stuck on Islam's knee while Islam was pummeling it from above like a hammer and anvil.

Sometimes it's like Ariel doesn't understand what the fighter is actually saying. Like when Ariel implies Volk referred to "timing" as not having more time. But that's not exactly what Volk meant. Volk meant timing in regards to the unfortunate mental space he was in which affected his physical as well. Volk wasn't harping on "more time." He was harping on when it HAPPENED to have happened. This may seem insignificant but I don't think it is. And I've seen Ariel do this many times and it's frustrating because the damn fighter is pouring their heart out only to be misunderstood in some fleeting response.

Nobody could judge Alex's talent as a competitive sportsman but also his sincerity and class, appreciate you sir. Looking so forward for his fight with Illia, who is also a great talent.

People are so quick to forget, this is the featherweight GOAT we're talking about. Still in his prime. As long as he doesn't overdo his stay into his 40s when a decline is inevitable, I don't see anyone currently in the division beating him. There will need to be new blood and a world beater to take that belt from the man. Islam has proven he is the monster many thought he was and Volk taking that fight on 10 days notice after admitting to being a little out of shape and in relaxation (drinking) mode was just a bad decision in retrospect. He's not getting beat by lowly Ilia, this is EZ money. Max would destroy Ilia and we know how each and every Max fight went ;)

Volk isn’t finished; he was just chilling on the couch not training. Volk was coming off a surgery before he got the call for the fight with Islam. He should have not taken the fight, but the warrior in him did, so can’t fault him for going for greatness.

Second Islam fight is a whatever fight for me. Coming off a week training (if even that cuz of traveling) against a guy who's had a full camp is nuts. He probably won't get an opportunity again, but his legacy is still intact.

As a Georgian it will be so hard to root against Volk this week ehh... What a great champion and role modal human being 🎊
