As a retired saxophonist, I’ve heard this performed by more saxophonist than I can count. Your version was the best, so clean and in control without any hint of being mechanical. Every note sings: beautiful!

Saxophone belongs to neoclassicism period and NOT to romanticism. If a saxophonist likes to play romantic music unfortunately he has chosen the wrong instrument! each composer is played differently from another: Glazunov completely different than Francaix or Milhaud (especially in staccato!), Milhaud to Debussy, Ibert to Tomasi (especially in "Ballade" while his "Concerto" requires a different approach), Martin to Villa-Lobos etc etc.

His pieces are all copy/pastes of the same things. He hasn’t written anything original since Redline Tango (or probably before that). There’s no substance anyway, it’s all flash, loud, and mixed meter. He parades around the world acting high and mighty, but publicly shames anyone through both his Twitter and Facebook that express any criticisms of him. He does nothing to help young composers or those in underrepresented communities. His stunt for Midwest of giving his booth away is just to build good press since he knows that he’s famous enough to spare the money. The other 51 weeks out of the year he does nothing. He also grossly overcharges for his commissions. A 5-6 minute piece for Wind Band is $100,000 (ask him and he’ll confirm this). He’s overall greedy, narcissistic, and resting on his success of some lucky pieces when he was earlier in his career.

@@spammymcspamface7456 Maybe you don't like his music, but I don't see how any of this makes him a terrible person. At worst, he doesn't take criticism well, doesn't go out of his way to help others, and charges a lot. None of which are character flaws significant enough to warrant calling him a terrible person.
