Funny how Alexa was probably one of the youngest workers on set (at 12) but one of the most MATURE. Because the “adults” on set definitely were NOT acting like adults. And the kids who bullied her acted like immature 2-year-olds with no home training.

I think deep down Jamie KNEW that Zoey was a dull character and that her acting skills were on the weak side (I wasn’t a fan of the show, I just saw a few clips here and there.). I think she felt threatened that Alexa could steal her cloud.

Seen plenty of people that rarely smile even in their adulthood because of that kind of bullying. I can’t believe this podcast actually happened!! Thank you for letting Alexa tell her story. I never thought as an avid Zoey 101 watcher and HUGE fan of the show that I’d be watching this years later and learning about what actually happened behind the scenes. It breaks my heart because I related so much to Nicole on the show as a preteen as well and when Alexa left I was devastated. I really hope justice is served properly to all the sick, evil individuals who put these kids through all this trauma.

Trish really seemed triggered so much during this ep yet maintained a welcoming space for Alexa to be unfiltered in her experiences. I am so in awe of both Trish and Alexa 🩷🩷

Britney has said how mean her sister was , sounds like she really was a Regina George. Britney wrote about how her sister tricked her into bullying Alexa in her book.

I remember as a kid being very upset when Nicole didn’t return in the third season and I always thought it was strange so when Alexa came forward all those years after, it in a weird way validated my inner child‘s feelings?? I hated how they closed her character out. I loved her because I was that bubbly girl. Now knowing that she was bullied and made fun of for being that smiley girl (and I was too) makes me really proud of her for standing her ground and leaving the show.

THIS. I am subscribed to her channel but sometimes her videos feel quite intense and I know they’re so much emotional labour for her to host (but of course she loves it and is doing it for the cause). This felt really healing for her and was nice to see her be able to confide in someone like a friend, even if they did just meet. It’s likely that my preferred style of content leans more towards two friends having a chat vs talking head reporting/commentary, but the girls really made an amazing episode here!

Trish, I am SO impressed by your recent podcasts. You really let the guests speak their truth while adding stuff in when necessary and staying engaged the whole time. I have so much respect for you, one of the best podcast hosts right now.

Nicole was literally my favorite character on zoey 101. After nicole left i subconsciously didn’t like zoey 101 anymore. Now i realize that that was the reason, she was the best character on the show

I had no idea Jaime was Britney’s sister at the time but I always felt like they just casted her as the lead because she was pretty, blond and blue eyed. I guess I was right in a way.

Props to Trisha for giving Alexa this platform and safe space. She has been through so much. This conversation was really wonderful.

When I was a kid I clearly remember how hard Nickelodeon pushed Jamie Lynn Spears. When they added her to All That, they ran commercials and promos non stop. Then when they made Zoey101 they pushed that even harder. And Jamie Lynn wasn’t what Nickelodeon promised in my opinion. Looking back now it’s so clear what a huge brat she was then, and how awful she still is now. It’s even more clear to me that Jamie Lynn is a terrible person after Britneys book came out. This girl was a victim of both Schneider and Jamie Lynn and I’m glad she is standing up for herself and telling her story

I feel like autistic girls really understand Alexa’s pain with Jamie and the others because I also had “friends” in high school who would do the same thing. I had “friends” who would throw parties, purposely not invite me, and then call me from the party to let me know they were having fun. Looking back on it now, it was so obvious that they hated me but as a child who just wants friends I simply wanted to be involved. I hope they live the lives they deserve (and so far they are hehe).

THIS. I remember this feeling too. I remember one of my best friends in middle school had a birthday party, told me all the people she was inviting (didn’t include me) and said “if I could invite one more person, it would be you”. And then told me aaalllll about the party on Monday. 😭

It wasn’t in those words. It basically only said she couldn’t sue him. For anything during the time of their marriage, there was no specific crime listed or he would’ve been admitting guilt & really dumb. There’s articles on it.

Alexa Nikolas deserves so much more RESPECT, let alone recognition, for how much she’s been speaking out against p*dos and literal child abuse. I love how she is promoting POWER to the victim. Such a strong, well spoken, smart, and brave woman. If anyone hasn’t said it yet, THANK YOU ALEXA! You are not defined by your experiences, and it’s truly commendable how you’ve chosen to use them to bring awareness and change for future child actors.

I think Jamie was jealous/envious about Alexa having a loving mother who was there for her.

@kyliehughes6700 Sounds like jealousy to me. That bubbly personally makes people more likable and approachable. Any girl in real life would’ve loved to be Alexa’s friend. I think the others were threatened that she had the potential of stealing their cloud.

If your little sister is getting bullied, you do not assault a child. You contact the other child’s parents and have a civil conversation. What Britney did was WRONG.

Britney was defending her little sister who she thought was getting bullied relentlessly by her co-star and big sister would do what Britney did. Britney has apologized more than once to Alexia about his things went down

Not Victoria justice being a product of nepotism 😭

As a neurodivergent woman, as I grew up I learned no one that I thought was my friend actually liked me. They never told me that but everyone else around us knew. It really hit me and caused me to not bother making friends outside of other parent friends for play dates. It hurts how people can be so passive aggressive and bully you and pretend they’re your friend instead of being straightforward. I didn’t understand that these people used me as the butt of every joke and actively tried to hurt me, as I laughed along and smiled with them.

I relate to this so hard. Growing up I had a few “best friends”, but every one of them eventually started treating me as if I was beneath them or an inconvenience to them. It’s like there was some invisible force that would deter every single one of my friends away from me, which was gut wrenching to experience. I’ll never forget my last day of middle school, I was so heartbroken that me and my best friend were gonna be split up to two different high schools. I had absolutely no friends going to the high school I was going to, and I told my friend that maybe me and HER best friend could possibly hang out together at the new school. She told me “Um no, Jessica isn’t gonna hang out with you. She’s gonna have her own friends, you’ll have to go and make your own for once.” It still kills me to this day to even think about that, I obviously fell out with that friend soon after that. I basically went through high school completely friendless and would eat lunch alone while seeing that my old mutuals from middle school already had their cliques and ignored my existence entirely. I don’t know what it is about being neurodivergent that deters people so strongly, I don’t think I’ll ever truly understand. I think we’re the coolest people ever but nobody else seems to recognize that 🥺

This episode SAVED ME! As a 23 year old female. I've had this happen to me for years and couldnt understand why. I'm a bubbly person as well, and struggle to make friwnds with women. Always seen as the outsider and would blame myself all the time while everyone else cliques so easily. Still going through this till this day and am struggling. Thought i was the only one 😢

And I especially see this with individuals who obviously are truly strong and have something to offer the world on the inside. I used to be told that as a kid, but not bullied instead joke made. But out of all of my peers now in my 40s, I'm the most vocal and unafraid of standing up for things. Alexa is the absolute strongest and most mentally sound out of all of them.

my heart breaks for Alexa. i’ve watched her youtube channel off and on for a while, but this gives a fully comprehensive look at *why* she does the important work she does. she is so strong (but she never should have needed to be), Trisha did a wonderful job interviewing her and just really let her speak. one of my favorite episodes i’ve seen of this podcast!! love to you both

I will never forget being bullied in elementary school and really feel for Alexa. My bully tried to convince everyone not to be my friend and when I asked her why, she said “you’re fat, ugly, and bite your nails”. It sticks with you forever.

Sorry that happened. I know you’re likely a better, kinder more well rounded person because of it though. I know I am- but I randomly cringe when memories of being talked about in that way by bullies/ “friends” The best payback I got was losing 100+ pounds- coming back for junior year, and many years beyond getting hit on/ DM’d by these men- and politely reminding them that they’re garbage- and it’s never gonna f**king happen! I hope you are well- you’re worth it!!

So we’re calling grown women mean girls because of speculation and accusations about their behavior as tweens that have yet to be proven other than that it’s Alexa’s word & no real evidence? Can’t get more parasocial than that.

As a shy person I would really appreciate Nicole because when I was young I was afraid to talk to people. There aren’t enough bubbly personas

I’ve seen people complain or get annoyed that Alexa is constantly talking about her trauma and speaking up, saying that she should be over that at this point or saying she was a child then, so it shouldn’t matter anymore. But what people don’t understand is, it does matter. If you have never been abused by someone to the point you felt like nothing it’s hard to understand. Yes she was a child but as a child she expierenced so much hurt from Dan, the cast, and producers around her. I absolutely would believe that would be traumatic. Especially a grown ass man taking his anger out onto a little girl just rages me to the core. I’m glad she’s speaking up and continues to, because she wants to let the world know what went on. One can heal, but one will never forget what they were put through. It grosses me out that men like that are out there in a powerful status. He’s a predator and he should absolutely be called out for what he has done. No amount of money in the world could be given to me to keep me silent if I was in any of these ladies shoes. So I applaud her and Jeanette and others who are speaking out. Dan should be behind bars but unfortunately because of his power and wealth he will never be. So the best option for now is to tell everyone who he really is. Also being bullied by other kids who you thought could have been your friend is also a terrible thing to go through. Jamie knew what she was doing and she went after Alexa because of her youthfulness and kindness. So she preyed on her because at the time she saw her as a weak link or competition. Jamie was a brat and knew she could get her way and she did. So I’m also glad that Alexa is speaking up about her because that was so F’ed up on how Jamie treated her.

as the literal demographic-I actively watched this show and now i’m a grown adult. I was so confused as to why Nicole was “written off”. Alexa was such a great actress and so bubbly despite the mental torment she endured. Makes me feel better about quitting my toxic job. She stood up for herself at a young age.

Forget the childhood bullying - the industry sent Diplo to ruin her career and life and silence her form her childhood SA? INSANE?

That’s the worst when kids bully by being passive aggressive and isolating one kid. Psychological bullying is worser than physical abuse because it has longer lasting effects.

I am SO impressed with this interview. Trish, you’re so good at keeping the tempo and keeping the guest on track whilst still allowing them the space to talk openly. You don’t overtake them or speak over them, and you add where needed but don’t overdo it. Really, really good to watch!

Trisha is such a great interviewer she asks such good questions, while also making the guests feel safe and heard. Love this era of Trish ❤

Unfortunately that's never gonna happen just because doing that would make her admit some sort of wrong doing and people like her don't usually accept when they do something wrong. (When I say people like her I mean, a bully with jealousy tendencies) just like she did to Ariana Grande on Victorious and the reason she apologized to her and now they're "friends" is because Ariana Grande is a superstar. If she weren't as famous as she is now, she would have never apologized. 🤷🏼‍♂️

⁠@@kreiliciouswhy would it matter if it were years ago and a child? You can’t apologize for your wrong doing because you were a young child? Make that make sense? As an adult you would know better and you would know to apologize and feel guilt for those things. It makes MOST sense to yes, apologize now.

I know I've said this in a ton of episodes, but I can't say enough that this was definitely Trish's calling. She does SUCH an amazing job interviewing her guests and LISTENING to them and just letting them tell their stories. My biggest pet peeve with podcasts is when the host constantly cuts off their guests and talks over them and talks MORE than them. You can tell that Trish is GENUINELY interested in what her guests have to say. And I've seen Alexa on quite a few podcasts now, the first one I ever seen with her was Let's Get Into It with Sloan. It was the first time I heard her full story. I feel so bad for the things that she (and many others) endured as a child. And even as an adult with her ex-husband. I can relate to her on so many levels, when it comes to that. What she's doing now is truly amazing and I just KNOW that she'll help with the change this world needs!! #eatpredators

I got curious after this so I started to watch zoey 101 back and you can SEE the dynamic now, how the girls are sitting (with Nicole usually on a chair or away from them), and even the scenes where its just Jamie and Alexa, it's so bizzare the things that go over your head as a kid

i love how trish interviews, she's so warm, genuine, asking for details but still letting her tell her story. so sweet! the part about victoria justice and alexa shook me esp with their family connection!

I recommend Alyson Stoner’s podcast “Dear Hollywood” because she’s talked about advocacy and passing legislation to protect child actors
