Why do you think that though? It's low risk high reward. Anyone has a chance of beating anyone in the UFC but why would he specifically avoid Alex? You do know Jon's resume right? I think Jon WILL fight him because that means taking down the (current) boogeyman of the UFC and that's a hell of a thing for a person's legacy. Jones has been hiding down at LHW his entire career, he has the same height and reach as Ngannou but never moved up to make super fights with Cain, Werdum, etc. he waited until DC was 36 and made him cut weight instead of moving up, he waited until Stipe was 42 and fought Francis twice, he took fights with literal Middleweights... but not on short notice, no--he needed to cancel on a PPV and do an Ultimate Fighter run to prepare/build a fight with CHAEL SONNEN..🤣 Meanwhile Pereira is defending his own belt for fun, on short notice, just to save a PPV and finishes in devastating fashion like a real G.O.A.T.

A decent chance if he improves his TD defence even further. You could see he already improved it by a lot when Jiri couldn't take him down at all this time, as opposed to last time.

Unless Jon Jones has aged suddenly he's still too smart for anyone out there. I'm an ex boxer and a day one Ufc fan and in all my years I ain't seen a better Mma fighter. I'm sorry but to say "people are going to look at Jon Jones' legacy and say I don't remember him head kicking people the way Alex was" is nuts and I know that he followed that by clarifying how he's "entered the convo" but still he hasn't done nearly enough to enter the convo dudes had 3 defenses vs Jones 13 (If you don't count his time off plus DC 2 its like 15). The division used to be soooo stacked in the late 2000s and 2010s versus just a year ago 40 year old Glover was a top contender (there's a reason prime Glover was never champ...there were so many killers in that division). I'm sorry if I'm coming off as a hater because I'm not. Alex is one of my favs and clearly an amazing fighter probably top 10 pfp ever (at least debatably though he hasn't faced an ELITE wrestler)

Jon is avoiding these guys and missing the historic narratives for BS legacy fight no one cares about but him and he only wants it cos years of training for Stipe and having Stipe in his head would all be in vain if he doesn’t fight him.

Dana would never allow Alex to fight his manufactured GOAT. Tom would run right through Jon in a single round and Alex would not be as easy to choke out as people think... this isn't Gane and people forget that before the Gane fight Jon couldn't even finish Anthony Smith or a one legged Thiago Santos, and Alex is leaps and bounds more dangerous than either of them. UFC knows this, so they'd rather have him pull a Jake Paul and fight a senior citizen who used to be great. Dana literally said that Alex isn't big enough to compete at Heavyweight... he compared the size of Alex to Chuck Liddell and Forest Griffin, let the insanity of that statement sink in... Alex isn't big enough to fight heavyweights... imagine Alex fighting old man Stipe... somehow old man Stipe who hasn't fought in years and is coming off a loss is a bigger challenge for Jon than Alex who is currently destroying everybody.

How do you make it his fault that he's fighting the top ranked ppl in the division that has the least skill? At least he's done WAY more than jon has at heavyweight. Jon's fought 1 man and was immediately gifted the undisputed belt. There's also the fact that it's not only opponents that determine how good a fighter actually is, but how they fight and what their fights look like... there's like multiple videos showcasing tom's ufc highlights and I don't understand how you think a 262lb guy who moves like that isn't elite enough to school overweight jones? Tom passes all the eye tests.

I don't think people understand how deadly Jones is in grappling. That dude is not Khabib, Merab, or Ankalaev, he's not going to hold you down on the ground and maul you. Jones in every fights where he had positions on the ground, or even in the clinch, will go for a choke or cave your face in with elbows immediately. Dude is not playing around with his food if he deems you worthy or a good mark for his legacy.

In boxing the HW division is the box office, the glamour weight! Yet some how in the UFC, they've devalued it by deciding to hold up the whole division because of Jones' injury. When Jiri got injured he handed in the belt, so to did Jamalah Hill, but Dana gave no inkling of asking Jones to do this and obviously JJ didn't chose to do it himself. There should be a time limit for an injured champion to be out, or be made to return the belt and let the ranked 2 & 3 fight for the vacant title. With the injured champion on his return, cleared to fight for his old belt straight off. Aspinall's next fight, as the current interim belt holder, should be for the belt, which has a whole heap of justice and merit to it. What if Machachaev was right now, out injured for a year too? There'd be two dead divisions. I bet Pereiar would hand in the belt, if he was out with a long injury, for it's not made out of a chicken breast, it'll still be there when the fighter is fit to fight again. We've lost out for 2 yrs on the very entertaining fighter, Chandler, who I hope it gets his 'Red Panty Night', but will it ever happen? As with Jones' injury, who knows if that will heal up full, permitting him to fight again. But what we do know, is the HW belt hasn't been seen for many mths now.
