Nah, I read the article they said they know what Morgan brings to the game they just want to see what other players bring. This is not the Olympic team roster. Remember we still have Christen Press and Mallory Swanson who are coming back from injury.

I don't think not anyone has been dropped for good. Looks like they are taking the friendlies as a chance to look at other talent. It should have done that a long time ago.

Y'all... take a second, step back, and touch grass. The vets are off for the holidays; perfect timing for the younger players to gain some experience while the vets take a well-deserved break before the Olympics. Just like in any other corporate structure, I'm sure there were time off requests, negotiations, EOY planning... Let's see how everything starts shaking out in early 2024 before making judgements!

Reality is that Alex Morgan has been ineffective for quite a long time in the USWNT. While Rapinoe was the most obvious player who was allowed to take valuable development time from the more effective youngsters even when she couldn't run for more than a few minutes in every game, Alex Morgan being left out of the roster SHOULD be one of the easiest decisions Emma Hayes has to do. Rodman and Hatch have had their potential almost completely destroyed by keeping the veterans on the team way, way too long. About 4 years longer than they should have. Ashley Hatch's career may not recover from that, but at least Rodman's still very young. Oh no. I can't believe I clicked on an ESPN video. ESPN has been at the forefront of the destruction of American sports with all their woke nonsense. I wish them all the worst.

I gave you a thumbs up before reading your last paragraph. Now I want to give you 1000 thumbs up. I've been saying this since 2019. Rapinoe somehow won the Golden Ball in the 2019 WC, but she was absolutely awful in the run of play... and so were Heath and Morgan. It was clear then that our front line was too old. Heath didn't score a goal and 5 of Morgan's 6 goals came in the 13-0 win against Thailand in the first game. Our midfield (with help from out defense) carried us in the 2019 WC, yet Rapinoe and Morgan got all the attention (as always) while contributing the least.

Ok y’all need to meditate or something, this is a December roster it is typical not to see vets at this time. Will there be a change of course (& it sucks because those vets of the last two cups r not only favorites but hard to replace) yet it has to happen it doesn’t mean they aren’t respected but it just means it’s time, not for those of u screaming for Dunn, Press, & Heath u need to realize that they are in that “vet group” that we r gonna move on from. (Yes Press got shorted maybe Heath too but injuries do that to an international career) the ones we need back r Swanson & Macario. You also have to take into consideration (as much as I adore her) Lavelle’s ability to stay healthy) there is a lot to consider and trust me my fav is part of the vets that r potentially done, but I have to be reasonable and so does everyone else, change is coming but that doesn’t mean media and social media wanna be journalists/media and trolls such bash players that have gotten this program this far. Grow up do better

Nearest comparison I can think of, in England, is how Sarina Wiegman left out Steph Houghton from England team. There were times at World Cup when she would have been the obvious replacement for Leah Williamson who replaced her, but was then injured. Time to stop looking back, I reckon. I am sorry. Generational change WAS taking place: Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman, Girma, Fox, Huerta, Alanna Cook, Sullivan... there were so many players who were NEW. You can't say there was not general change. What happened was that Alanna Cook was not great. Mal Pugh was HURT. C;mon. Don't say there was no attempt at change.

They need people who can put it in the net….morgan is a finisher….they still looking for that….that game against china was painful….

Following the last World Cup Alex Morgan days as a starter for the USWNT should be over. Either Sofia Smith, Trinity Rodman or Ashley Hatch should start as striker/center forward while Morgan should come off the bench as a winger not as striker.

I've been following Morgan since day but last 2 years or so with the USWNT she has been ineffective. Somebody wisely said before: "It happens to every great and at some point the team needs to move on." She has been my hero but it is time to step aside and let the new generation take over.

The pros are on vacation because they chose to be. Letting the newbies get some experience.

This is going to be more and more common, I wouldn’t be against Morgan coming off the bench late, but only if she accepts that role.

It's time for Alex to retire; she has not been effective for a long time. Now not seeing Kelley, Crystal, Becky and Ashley Sanchez is surprising. Especially Crystal Dunn. And I don't know why Sanchez was on the bench so long, she is an effective player and was scoring goals, then suddenly Vlatko put her on the bench. Also, not seeing Naeher on the roster is odd. I realize she is approaching retirement, but Naeher has been in the goal for so long. It's surprising that she's not even on the roster. Surely her experience would be valuable in camp. And if they are looking for a new keeper they have to try out Katie Lund. Additionally, I do not comprehend why Rodman is on the roster. She can't score, can't pass and is too much of a hot shot. It doesn't matter how often she dribbles around an opponent, if the ball doesn't end up in the net then it's useless.

Truth about Alex: Morgan hasn't been the target striker on the USWNT since Vlatko took over (shared a lot of time with Carli Lloyd until she retired) because he wanted to use his wingers as the scoring threat, AND somewhat less of the target striker during the 2019 World Cup. Morgan LED the USWNT with 5 assists in 2023 feeding the younger players like Swanson, Rodman and Smith. In 2022, she won the Golden Boot in the NWSL. In 2023, she led her team with 7 goals and 5 assists as the captain and leading them to the Shield. If she isn't scoring, it is because she either isn't the target or we aren't getting her the ball. But she sure was feeding her teammates. Why does the WoSo never tell the whole story?? Bad tournaments?? The bad was a team effort, young and old, BUT I TRULY blame Vlatko and is lack of being able to coach in the national team setting. Those players haven't had a chance. Tired of the awful, hatefully skewed opinions, and the WoSo media with these garbage takes to get clicks.

We have no first-hand knowledge of how much Emma Hayes did or did not call the shots on team selection. But this roster is exactly the right formula no matter who authored it. A couple of low-stress friendlies provides opportunities to get a look at young talent and to see if they can start to build chemistry in the run of play. The Olympics are alarmingly soon, and the US team will be up against proven national teams that have played together for years and are getting stronger day by day. The roster needs to be right and the on-pitch chemistry is a critical element - missing to a degree during the World Cup.

If she's on the team she needs to be a sub or a number 10. She has been garbage lately. Did nothing in the World Cup. Her reaction time is slow. Slow on the pk miss. Doesn't create much. Anyone else start at the 9 we might've won the World Cup. We only needed one goal a game.

Morgan can score and is a better passer than Smith. She still has better finishing skills than the younger strikers. She was not the problem of the US team. The mid-field has been terrible for the last 3 years also.

What, do you expect her to continue to play until the day she dies? All great players will reach a day that he or she needs to step down. She is one of the best strikers in the sports. She had her times, and now it's the next generation's turn.

I’ll never forget when dude #15 was asked her thoughts about being invited to the White House if she won the World Cup she (#15) responded negatively using the F word, I was shocked, Morgan teamed up with the dude supporting her comments, from that moment on I lost respect for Morgan and stopped watching her games.

As a Chelsea supporter and an American, I will be livid if Hayes attends these upcoming USWNT games. She is Chelsea's manager until the end of the year and I expect her focus to be on the team. There will be non-internationals still in training at Cobham and even if there weren't any she needs the players to know that she is not already off to the next job. I hope she keeps a certain level of respect for the club.
