Alex G - studio session at The Current (music + interview)
Музыка
Philadelphia musician Alex Giannascoli - better known as Alex G - released his latest album, "God Save The Animals," on September 23, 2022.
Shortly afterwards, Alex G went on tour in support of the album. While in the Twin Cities for a show at First Avenue in Minneapolis, Alex G and his band - guitarist Sam Acchione, drummer Tom Kelly and bassist John Heywood - visited The Current studio for a session hosted by Ayisha Jaffer.
In the interview that followed, Alex G spoke with Ayisha about the making of "God Save The Animals." There’s also talk about Alex G’s work scoring a horror film … and Alex G shares his own rather spooky story.
Watch and listen to the complete session above.

It’s one of the best on GSTA no doubt
I love how honest this guy is. He answers so simply and is comfortable not having answers to the questions/his process. Genuine spirit.
He's so awkward and honest, I love it.
I feel like this interviewer did an excellent job of bringing out his insights in a comfortable & personable way. Great fun listening to this set & conversation :~)

I really want an interviewer to ask him about being italian. Idk why that would be so funny to me 😭

It's pretty cool how that story about his childhood basement lines up with the lyrics of "written in blood"

really though, i wonder if that had anything to do with the lyrics

He did wonders for Alex’s records. Jake would have to mix with very limited options since Alex did everything on one mic via GarageBand until God Save The Animals.

what a solid fucking performance! alex and his band continue to perform beautifully, especially during live recordings. alex has also worked so much on improving his vocals and it shows!! I love his singing, both when he was young and now, but he has become so consistent!! I’m just so incredibly proud and happy that I get to experience their musical progression :,) GSTA is a truly a work of art

It’s cool that she got him to tell that basement story. More interviewers should ask him less expected questions.
Excellent interview, easily one of the best I’ve seen with Alex
