I finally found out why my 9 year old was hitting with no power even though he swung hard. He was dragging the bat through the hitting zone, with his rear elbow in front of the bat. I am going to show him this video. Thanks Mike!.

This really speaks to what I've been working on with my boys to snap that Barrell to increase launch quickness. Trying to use the hands as the pivot point to turn that barrel. We work on snapping that barrel back with the hands. Great explanation Matt. Thanks

Thanks Matt! This video came up on my KZread and I watched it and showed it to my son. Thanks for explaining what he was saying. We have been working on your swing and this was a little confusing.

Couple of questions for you. 1. Are you able to talk about tipping pitches? Glasnow got hit hard in the first in game 5 because he was tipping fastball or curve based on where he came set. Were you good at picking up those subtle differences to see if a pitcher was tipping? Were some teams more into looking for every little difference than others? 2. Can you explain communication between SS and 2B pre-pitch? Somewhere along the way (maybe it was even on your channel) I heard a SS say that he would watch the catchers sign then behind his glove to the 2B show an open mouth for offspeed and closed mouth for fastball. That way the fielder would have an idea if a guy might be late or early and anticipate his jump. Is that a common practice? Are there any other ways the SS and 2B communicate pre-pitch. Love the channel!

Alex bregman has the same opinion about the swing as me. I didn't watch anybody to find out about this until now, i just tried it out and it felt better.

Matt. I think hitters that struggle to use their hands to turn the barrel should hold the bat with knob towards catcher. Especially the younger ones. When they hold with a tilt and knob angled straight back towards ground, they pull the knob towards pitcher and create that drag. The lack of strength can contribute to this.

If you lived near your teams spring training facility during the off season could you use the facilities to work out during the winter?

Bregman seems like he is trying to build a social media brand and he seems generous in sharing his expertise. He might have interest in collaborating with you and your 125K subs if you are able to reach him in the off season.

All you have to know to understand kids and drag...what does a kid THINK hitting is? Take a big ball (playground ball)...put it on a tee. Tell the kid to hit it. If he is right handed he will hit the first base side of the back of the ball (around). Now, you hit the ball and intentionally reach the barrel to the 1st base side of the ball, capture it on video (you will demonstrate a kids swing perfectly). You will have an "oh" moment and you are half way there to understanding kids. The other half of the understanding is on the other side of the ball. Tell that kid to use their hands to turn the barrel back and they will hit the first base side of a big A.. ball! Fundamentals are still a real thing. 3k subscribers is all I have

It seems to me that these guys that say 'knob down' are ignoring the fact that they pull back and load at the scapula before they release the upper body in a game swing. If you pull back you can't go knob to the ball at the same time. So it works for their 'feels' because when it gets real they aggressively load to initiate the swing so they get a real that is what you're talking about: barrel to the ball.. that said I'm a former strength coach who is watching baseball videos for my kids so take that with a grain of salt.
