Yes, he's like Stanley Clarke...note choices (and which ones to stop and not stop on), come first :-) What Alex plays is always part of "a phrase", not just a note in the bass line.
Oh my gosh two of my favourite bassists right there! Didnt know they met! Awesome!
Two BEASTS on the bass! Love it!😌🎶❤️👍🏾
Yeah, Alex Al does Detroit proud! He's been funky since he wasn't as tall as the bass... He and his brothers are some of the Best!!!
Oh man, gotta love those two, -that fun, that funkiness… 💥❤️🔥
All I could do! watch listen and smile
Alex Al is amazing. Who ever is lucky enough to play aside of him shines too.

It's Heinrik Linder from a band called Dirty Loops. Very jazz-fusion inspired player. Has insane bass chops, but nowhere near the feel as Alex Al!

@@Prettyflyforabassman It's because you never listen carefully whag he does. Another american praising bs and only americans. Linder is on par with very best players of planet. And he has goddamn feels on strings when he want too. He's the kind of guy letting people shine. Curious how it's always about Americans whe find most useless comments ever on YT. Always trying to compare with non sense. Go back to your MCU.
just amazing
A true beast !!!
Bass Beast!!!
Blessed 🙏
What can you but, they sure as hell FUNKED IT UP!!

I think you mean he's under-recognized due to lack of videos. No one with ears and eyes would underrate him. Where are all the videos of him? Guy's been playing for decades yet there are so few videos of him. I don't get it.

I agree he has played on many albums. You just don’t hear much about him like you would hear about Marcus Miller! 👍🏾

Marcus Miller is a marketing product. There are many bass players who are more much more interesting than him.

philippe clausen Philippe, Yes there are great musicians with great chops but look at his pedigree. In imho there very few players who can touch him. Back in the 80’s and 90’s everyone in NY plus Europe wanted to sound like him! The man is an undisputed legend!! 👍🏾

@Trevor Blair/ Marcus Miller has great technique and groove but he lacks the most important in music which is feeling/emotion or to quote Stefan Svensson "to have something to say" . He is a good but "cold" bass player. He has a lot to learn from guys like alex al, larry kimpel, nathan east, anton davidyants, ric fierabracci, neil stubenhaus and a few others on the expressivity/warmth/lyricism aspect of music.

It's a PRS bass called SE Kestrel, we had it as a loaner at the booth. Alex usually play their Core bass, I think.
At first I thought its Nathan East , Alex Al looks so similar to Nathan East .

Master Alex! why are you wasting your talent!
@EBSSweden

"Waste" is probably not the word. To have well paid gigs that keep you busy, like Alex has, is what most musicians desire and dream of. He deserves being recognised more by the bass players community, but he is definitely using his talent in a better way than many others do in that perspective.
