    Is it possible that lack of impact from running in early years could basically make his body stronger in later years. More resilient and not as worn out.

    I don't know about stronger, but possibly less wear and tear if you want to call it that. It is always hard to balance out the benefit of years of adaptations vs lack of wear and tear. I have always believed that one of the reasons I have been able to do pretty high volume training is I spent a long time building towards it (essentially a decade) and didn't get too crazy too early during my teen and early 20s.
