Alejandro Villanueva: Decorated veteran takes a shot at NFL
Villanueva served three tours in Afghanistan as a paratrooper and U.S. Army Ranger. Now, he's trading the battlefield for a football field as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Don Dahler reports.

He is huge! I have a lot of respect for him after he stood for the national anthem when the rest of his team stayed in the locker room. Not that I don't have respect for his service to his country.

A real American hero in my book, hope everyone else do not treat him like crap because he has fought for the rights that the NFL players are now enjoying the Freedom of Speech.

One piece of information not provided: Villanueva's parents are both Spaniards who moved to the US in the 80's. He was born in Mississippi in 1988 but, in 1992, the family returned to Spain. He started playing rugby in Spain, and was even part of the national team for kids categories. The family moved again to Belgium and then back to the States where he started college. His father was in the military in the Spanish Army. As Alejandro was born in the US he is a US citizen, but just wanted to inform you about his heritage.

Now I’m sad he left the Eagles. He’s my new hero. I didn’t even know he played for us.
