I agree with this 100%. I have said so many times they would be perfect for each other, not only for everything they've been through but also cause they already act like an old married couple. And Fred would probably remember more about 'uncle Awec' than Joe so. I think they would make such a beautiful family and Alec would love her boys as his own. One of these days I have in plan to make a s4 au, but I am wanting for more projects of David and Olivia for the manips.

OK, this just fixed the series 3 ending for me. 😭😭❤ I mean, when you think about it, the way series 3 ends, it leaves it very open to them thinking about maybe getting involved (the pub invite is basically Ellie asking Alec on a date, isn't it!) but I took Hardy's refusal as his not quite being in the right headspace yet, so soon after finishing that horrific case. And, of course, he'd promised to be a better dad to Daisy. But I just wanted something more than what they actually gave us, which wasn't much at all. And I sooooo want a spin-off series with Hardy and Miller together as a couple, living in Broadchurch with their three kids and being the perfect detective team. The deep affection they have for each other is so obvious, despite their old married couple bickering. 😂 They'd be the perfect, most wholesome couple. Thank you for this beautiful edit ❤

I also took his refusal as him being his usual grumpy self and not feeling like goinf to the pub THEN but who is to say he didn't regret not going and went another day? So I wanted to give them a little something. I also agree they would be the most wholesome couple (their bickering only makes them feel even more real). Alec is already 'unwle Alec' to Fred and no doubt he would be a good father figure to Tom as well. Ellie also could be the friend Daisy never found in Tess unfortunately... That being said THAT SPIN OFF SOUNDS SO GOOD, who do I have to pay to convince to make this? Or at least s4 cause it's not like they don't have many things left to explore, with Alex and Ellie, with the Latimers, and they could make a different case that doesn't involve children for once? Just saying. I have in mind to make a s4 AU one day...

finally a proper ship edit! i get most people like them as platonic besties, but they literally had so much more potential. she's the only reason he came back those times and stayed for good, which is why he never answered her question, i think he secretly fell for her and lil fred lol. also, some of these clips i haven't seen before!? them eating together and walking with fred, i'm literally screaming lol.

Thank you so much for your comment! I agree that it's understandable if people like them as friends only it's the attitude of some that irk me. Anyway, yes, they had so much potential, I think mostly because they would have been each other second chance after all the hurt they've been through. And Alec absolutely loved Fred, and would have been a great father to Tom as well. The scenes you mentioned are crom a deleted scene video on yt.

I know a lot of people wanted them together (I'm pretty neutral on that myself) but imo the real crime is that we never even got a hug. It seemed like a no-brainer for season 3 as some point. Especially since it was heavily implied that over time he developed so much affection for her that she wasn't willing to accept because of everything she was dealing with in season 2. Don't get me wrong, I think a part of the appeal is the prickly nature of their relationship, but I don't think ONE hug would have been too much to ask, I mean... In any case, very sweet video!

THIS. I can understand not shipping them but you are so right a hug would have been welcomed by everyone I think. It was such a big loss and there were many occasions to add this (ex: when Alec comforts Ellie on the steps or right at the end. ) I understand they wanted to go with antisocial Alec idea but as you said they got so close there was no need Anyway. I was waiting for this, and you did *such* a beautiful job! This song never fails to give me goosebumps, and associated with these two, it was just an overflow of emotion. Broadchurch videos always make me feel a bit nostalgic and it was the case here too. Very well done!
