this song is so sad but so real at the same time… friendships u think will last forever are cut short even though u thought it would last forever :( u would talk every day, plan every outing together, etc. and then it’s sudden radio silence and an odd void. ty alec for telling these stories that people can relate to the album is amazing!

It’s so southing. It sounds so unique compared to anyone else I’ve ever heard

Again I’m amazed at Alec’s songwriting. The concepts are so creative and dope and they’re so well executed.

It bugs me how so many people in the comments do not understand the meaning of this song... it's not about breakups, letting go of friendships etc. it's about living in the moment and not taking life as seriously as before.

Actually it's all about interpretation, its different for both you and me. Only the writer knows the true meaning behind the words they write. It can be anything, no one's right but no one's completely wrong either.

I've always thought it was about not seing the life with shade anymore. For him now, everythinng is just black or white (metaphorically speaking). But I'm french so maybe I don't understand everything. For me, the friend nuance is a metaphor.

True, in a recent podcast, I think the dropout one he says that he makes his songs very literally and creates them specifically with a meaning in mind unlike other songs where it’s up to interpretation.

Alec literally writes his lyrics like no one ive ever seen, such a way with words

I always thougt that Nuance wasn't a name! I thought is was a synonymous of "shade", so the song was about dealing with things differently, without thinking anymore (I can't fin my worlds, I"m confused

I agree. I think this is what the song means. I'm surprised how many commenters haven't heard the word nuance before. I don't think people are getting it, and that makes me sad. The meaning is so much deeper!

I think one day I'll be exactly like Nuance, forgotten. I don't mind though. I'm happy where I am. Laughing, crying, talking about life. To be okay and not being okay. I can already see it happening in front of my eyes, I was upset but it's better to celebrate the time I had with them for than being sad at losing them.

This song is not about losing a friend Nuance is not the name of a person, it is the concept of “nuance” personified It’s about people getting older/the world getting dumber and being less thoughtful about things

have said it before and still saying it : underrated Alec is one of the best out there

WTH this is a very rare occurence for me to genuinely like every single song in an album like what the.

I love this song because I can relate it to my own life, I had a friend very close to me . I havent seen her in 2 years . Truth is I don't like to talk her either . I want to thank you Alec for being someone I can listen to to know that I'm not the only one who feel's the same thing's as me.

This seems like more of an insight to I built a friend. The lyrics made me legit almost cry, I had this imaginary friend at toddler age and now i know why I developed him, and now I'm 11 and have a daydream world thingy, but sometimes I miss 'em and I try to bring him.back to my memories but it just doesn't work out... I named him "Poot dost" which in Punjabi translates to Ghost friend )

I discovered Alec Benjamin in 2018 and since he never disappoint me. This album is another great example of his masterpieces he creates 🥰
