    Perfection! Know you've got to be a super busy shop but would love to see more videos! The cobbler shop to me is like a barber shop to others, a place to kick back and catch up on the news and to see some awesome boot repairs, I'm sure you would kick me out in no time at all though I would be spending that green on boot repairs, I live on the Monterey Bay in Central California and normally send my boots down to LA for repairs, Brian the bootmaker or another cobbler since the town closest to me has like 160,000 people and only 2 1/2 shoe repair shops. Since the pandemic I've decided to spend my money locally to help the local businesses with mixed results as the cobblers don't specialize in boot repair but with me buying my own soles and heels and going over every last detail 2 of the shops have done a decent job, just wish i could find a shop like yours!! We have one shoe/boot store that has been family owned since 1919 and a huge Red Wing house that did all repairs in house and Red Wing did a big write up on them last year, its called Becks Red Wing shoes and repairs but over the years the repair part of the store has gotten worse and worse, to the point that the repair shop is only open on Saturdays and I can't live with that and the cobbler even comes out of the area to work, its sad because this place has so much history but younger people don't realize their boots and shoes can be repaired if you take care of the uppers they can last 20- 30 years or more, sorry for the long ass comment but love boots and when i see someone doing it the right way it gets me excited so keep up the amazing work and i'll follow you here at YT & on IG!! thanks again, Trevor

    Just curious, why did you not replace the piece of canvas you removed?

  • @sach918
    @sach9182 жыл бұрын

    When you removed the gemming, you removed the canvas that keeps boots shape if the gemming fails-why did you not replace it? It’s a very nice detail that can potentially extend the boots life.

    Love your videos, as a leather worker. My great grandfather was a cobbler that survived the camps in WW2. That said with all intended respect, the music is a bit much, at least for me. I'd rather hear the sounds of your shop. IMHO, no disrespect intended sir

    Like new again! 👍👍 Did you replace that extra piece of fabric or canvas that Alden puts on the footbed? I’m about to have mine rebuilt and I’ve seen others put that back in. Just curious if it’s necessary.

    It’s not necessary with sheet cork bonded to the midsole. It is necessary if using hot, so readable cork. We use sheet cork for multiple reasons, but that is one of them.

  • @WyattDadCobblerCompany

    @WyattDadCobblerCompany

    2 жыл бұрын

    We cut out pieces of leather, shaped them, glued them together, molded them and then attached a piece of rubber that we shaped and molded to match the shape of the heel bases

  • @jmcdowell1972
    @jmcdowell19722 жыл бұрын

    Looks like overkill to me as the only true worn parts that needed replacing were the heels. The rest of the rubber treads had at lot of life left in them. But the customer gets what they ask for. Why don't you use nails in the heel rubber like Alden? Seems cheap and the glue could give out in harsh climate conditions...
