STEP 1
We admitted we were
powerless over alcohol - that
our lives had become
unmanageable.
STEP 2
Came to believe that a Power
greater than ourselves could
restore us to sanity
STEP 3
Made a decision to turn our
will and our lives over to the
care of God as we understood
Him.
STEP 4
Made a searching and fearless
moral inventory of ourselves.
STEP 5
Admitted to God, to ourselves,
and to another human being
the exact nature of our wrongs.
STEP 6
Were entirely ready to have
God remove all these defects
of character.
STEP 7
Humbly asked Him to remove
our shortcomings.
STEP 8
Made a list of all persons we
had harmed, and became
willing to make amends to
them all.
STEP 9
Made direct amends to such
people wherever possible,
except when to do so would
injure them or others.
STEP 10
Continued to take personal
inventory and when we were
wrong promptly admitted it.
STEP 11
Sought through prayer and
meditation to improve our
conscious contact with God as
we understood Him, praying
only for knowledge of
His will for us and the power
to carry that out.
STEP 12
Having had a spiritual
awakening as the result of
these steps, we tried to
carry this message to
alcoholics, and to practice
these principles in all
our affairs.

I couldn't agree more. I've needed outside help with my 11th Step as the years go on. I'm a member of a group where we read and discuss Emmet Fox, C.S. Lewis and others. For me, no God, no AA.

And recovery is like sex, if it isn't fun you're doing it wrong. (I heard this from an old AA Speaker so don't kick me out!)

I sympathize both with the God message and with the no-God one. In fact I follow both suggestions at the same time, and it works. "there is only God" = "there is no God". This is pretty non-dual and advanced, so it's not what I tell newcomers. But thanks to this truth, I am able to connect with theists and atheists quite well.

. Interesting, AA gives you a choice. On page 53 When we became alcoholics, crushed by a self-imposed crisis we could not postpone or evade, we had to fearlessly face the proposition that either God is everything or else He is nothing. God either is, or He isn't. What was our choice to be? I know the Creator has ALL the power... So I choose "GOD IS". I love sobriety! Mike

@@AA100011 hi Mike, I love sobriety as well! And I am Sandy Beach's devoted fan. I love his easy-going but profound message. What I am saying is not in contradiction with the "God is everything" discovery, in fact I consider it a corollary. Imagine painting all the world in white: there is only white everywhere. You won't be able to detect the color 'white' anymore, because there is no other color to compare it with! In a way, there is no white at all. Similarly, in the non-dual message (cfr AA speaker Paul H ) saying that there is only God, or that there is no God, amount to the same. I didn't say it's the AA message as in the BB, but it is the way I can connect to atheists - and even be one lol! Best wishes, thank you for your service and thank you for uploading the late great Sandy Beach ❤️

Spiritual solution, not a Spiritual problem...no ? Everyone in the world has a Spiritual Malady, so how can that be the main problem or everyone would have alcholislism. Interesting talk - I love Sandy, but this one has me a little confused.

?> Everyone in the world has a Spiritual Malady, so how can that be the main problem or everyone would have alcholislism The 1st drink starts the craving = alcoholic per Dr Silkworth in "The Doctor's Opinion" Spiritual Malady = Not connected to your Creator Mike
