I was a heroin addict for 15 years. Finally got off and clean only to replace that habit with alcohol. I was afraid to live a sober life. Today i got about 30 days sober and i found that its not so scary to be sober and in fact, i found love for myself. Thanks for your story it really helps

I'm drinking now whilst watching this, I've got a few days off work. I hate booze because I've drank too much for too long so I'm desperate to quit. I think it’s great that you’ve reflected so much on your relationship with alcohol and how much better you feel without it. I know the cycle can be tough to break, when it’s such an embedded habit in your life for so long. I felt similar. I hope you find a way to make this positive change in your life (once you feel ready). It feels amazing to break the cycle once and for all.

Fantastic info, Chelsey. Really appreciate the insight, plus, sharing some great tips around ‘how’ to deal with certain situations we face when giving up the poison! I’m only 21 days in, but find these videos really helpful. It’s all about community and knowing other people are out there, as you said. It’s nice to be actually feeling legitimate things again, instead of a feeling as an outcome, from a substance! A quick question, Did you find that your dreaming came back each night while sleeping, when you gave up?? Mine have, in a full on type of way. I’ve read it can correlate back to the REM sleep that I probably wasn’t getting while drinking. Anyway, thanks again 🙏 Simon

I'm going to a club tonight and it'll be my first time going sober. I'm 16 days alcohol-free, after the booze got a handle on me (pun semi intended) and I got a DUI. I realized there's no benefits to drinking, and though I'm happier sober, I'm still nervous to go clubbing. I am however, going to focus on dancing and learning to socialize without needing to be intoxicated. This video was a wonderful reminder that I got this, and helped ease my nerves. Thank you!

If people bully you for not drinking it`s 100% of the time about their anxiety. If they are asking, then just say things as it is. that you feel like shit when you drink, and that you don`t like it. If they keep on then just say that you have nothing more to say about it. If they can`t handle that you dont drink over time. That is if they ask again and again, then it is 100% confrimed that they have a problem with THEY`RE own issues and anxiety. If it`s not a problem for you to answer questions then just keep on. If it is then it may be time to move on. A drinking budy is not the same as a real friend. They are not there for you when you need them. And there is no obligasjon for you to be there for them. Just let them go. Don`t judge them or give them the " speech" of why you don`t drink alcohol. They are simply feeling triggerd by the fact that you are having a great time beeing social and that you don`t need drugs to socialy interact with others. 98% of people have this anxiety and dont even realise it ( that`s why they always drink). Im even more social now that i don`t drink, before i had ALOT more anxiety. In my experience 98% of people are nice and mind their own business, some ask but they are just curious and come with compliments of my ability to withstand alcohol, drugs, sigarets etc. The reality is that i don`t envy them, and feel sorry for their addiction and social anxiety. I don`t tell them this, but if the kind who harass me about it comes along i just say " well can you write down on a paper alle the benefits you get from drinking???" i can write down the benefits in a whole fucking book about NOT drinking. Then they shut up.

I started drinking quite a bit in 2019, started has just relaxing and celebrating. N then to deal with anxiety, grief, loss, depression etc. I decided to reduced it in 2020 to 2022 but still having an issue. Every few weeks drinking.. not access or black out but enough to effect me. Im having a hard time quitting long term. I can go a few months but that's it. Its a habit I created and its taking time to stop. Don't blame yourself either because alcohol is highly addictive. Im not addicted physically, i think it was more of a mental support thing. Im at 8 days, i hope to go the distance this time.

Yes, it definitely depends on your relationship with alcohol though. I’ve mentioned in my videos before that these options are not safe for everyone. For me a mocktail or an NA beer at the occasional social event is no problem at all, but for someone who is maybe an addict it can be a slippery slope. Everyone should use discernment.

The visual of "putting poison into my mouth" feels burned into my thinking when it comes to drinking - I've been practicing more and more of seeing it in all dimensions of poison this way. The funny part is our "social self" is still there and even amplified with all the greater sleep and exercise. The baseline social is raised and that outweighs the rest. The baseline life is raised, that outweighs the rest. Going sober and being around drunks reveals a great deal of what's beyond the illusion, what's behind the scenes, what's outside the Matrix in this drunken theatre. It really is like living in an alcohol Matrix that strips away freedoms. Use some tools to help - "Days Since" is a free app that keeps a satisfying counter down to the seconds of how long you've been sober and worked on other habits. Non-alcoholic beer might help some taper off withdrawal symptoms - alternatively real ginger soda or ginger tea might help with the gut and headache symptoms too. If it's been awhile since you've stopped drinking, expect to see physical changes each week (especially the 2 week mark) - these continue each month on along with some fascinating changes in the mind (especially around the 6-8 month mark). New clarity and thinking absolutely unforeseen in the early stages of going sober. A year is often something spiritual even for non-spiritual people, expanded curiosity on what life might all be about - religion or no religion - just a massive boost to curiosity and evocative empirical senses. Re-reading the same book before and after the journey will likely be an incredibly different level of insight - the 2nd read may surprise you! You might actually be able to finish in half the time. Some take a break but if your soul wants a new life, look forward to each new week of changes - through the ups and downs (the journey out of the alcohol Matrix, seeing and feeling that real sun and nature).
