Not underrated. Theyre everyone's favorite band's favorite band.

Always impressive to see a drummer this technically skilled who hasn’t totally lost all sense of groove and swing from their playing.

You can hear Sean Reinert in this, absolutely amazing playing

Game changer. Absolutely insane. Best drumming I have ever heard on a metal album. Also, best metal album I have heard in years by far.

How many years? I agree that it's on another level. Be'lakor, Gorguts, Gojira, Archspire, Ne Obliviscaris, Shylmagoghnar and many more have put out phenomenal works in the past decade. I listened to stare into death at least 60 times in full, while still checking out new releases from other bands lol

@@russellzauner Truly a great band, but not in the same "scene" like Ulcerate or Gorguts. I had the privilege to see them live in Plovdiv, Bulgaria 2 years ago, I was actually amazed a bulgarian band managed to put out such consistent death metal.

Good drummers can play these fast beats in time, great drummers can play them with groove, dynamics and feel, the best ones can compose drum parts that sounds unique, have their own style and make the song come alive.

The most insane thing about this album, is that if not for the occasional blast beats that slides its way in and out of the groove, and excluding the crushing vocals, what you get is something far out of the left; a truly progressive brutal tech death album. With all the gravitas of death, melodic death, doom, rock, and countless other genres that amalgam into something that's truly unique. For the longest of times, I thought that The Destroyers of All was arguably one of their best to death, and Shrines of Paralysis ended up taking all of that and mixed it together with the most intricate morsels of Vermis--only for them to release THIS. If, tomorrow, they were to hang up their instruments and move on with this album to close them out. That'd be just fine. For any other band in this genre, albums like these are to aspire to. But I'm certain that these guys will keep going and they have a lot of things they want to say and craft into their music. So, this album might be a new starting line for them. Can't wait to see what the next level of their bar is.

This guy is my favorite drummer by a long shot. I don't drum, but this man has opened my eyes to the musical nature of drumming in a way I've not previously experienced. Ulcerate fucking rules.

How he comes up with these insane fills is beyond me. Also how someone can be that fucking fast while hitting every little hit perfectly. I really wonder how many hours of practice it took him to get here. Edit: also, in There Is No Horizon, that blast where he uses his left foot to control the hats while keeping that same consistent speed with his right, not missing a single beat

Album of the year and drummer of the decade. Been drooling for a studio grade video of the new album since it launched. I'm just in awe. Happy I got to witness Ulcerate in Finland, even though I had to drive hundreds of kilometres in total for that.

I saw them live with Mgla, and Ulcerate even though being a "support" band completely blew them out of the water. They played this whole album and finished it with the last track from Everything is fire. It's a shame that half of the people only came in once Mgla started playing.

Tones this perfect should be illegal.

His kit sounds ridiculously clean. I love the snare especially.

Drums sound so organic and alive, actually like a acoustic instrument rather then overproduced plastic that is common in metal nowdays. It is all so very balanced, every element of this kit sounds and breaths so well it so enjoying to listen. Execution and precision is on top level as always, loving to hear that more melodic slower parts and flavours you are incoroprating in your drumming. Keep up being unique and amazing!

@@KeepTheGates Exactly. The drums are situated great in the album mix, no need to put them more forward. The only thing you'd achieve is drown out other instruments and lose a lot of the stellar mix.

This guy is alien. Perfect creature. This music will live for eons. Timeless peace of art

Ulcerate is the type of music which you already love but after watching how exactly the music is played you start loving it beyond any limits

I saw them live for the first time last weekend and as soon as the first song started this is exactly what I did 😂

This guy's got precision, speed AND dynamics for days. What a powerful combo!

All this time later and I can confidently say this is one of the best albums of all time. I've been following Ulcerate since Of Fracture and Failure and think that they really perfected their unique style this time around. Really hoping we get another album someday but even if not I'll be happily listen to this one for the rest of my life. So glad I got to see them live - truly a transcendent experience as a drummer to see Jamie play live.

I don't think they would ever retire.....they are so passional about their music that is inspiring to say the least!!!!....fuck i even drop a tear just thinking about how much they have change the face of extreme metal (Deathspell omega too)...and yet they don't get truly the credit deserved

Holy fuck it says a lot when a drummer like you is inspired!

This guy is a true diamond in the rough. Playing extremely fast while maintaining precision IS impressive in its own right, to be sure. But this guy? He not only has mad chops, he understands dynamics far more than most metal drummers in the scene and shines every bit as much when playing slower. He really is on a whole different level. Sometimes, knowing what NOT to play or knowing PRECISELY what to play that will lend itself to the song/melody perfectly, even if it differs from the typical style within the genre, is a far more difficult task than just playing blast beats at 320bpm for an entire song. This man must be protected at all costs, lol.

jaw-dropping technique, sometimes jazz and immediatly changes to an absolute devastator tech-death-flawless execution! perfection makes his presence here. No doubts!

This dude is like the Gavin Harrison of extreme metal Really creative and with a great dinamics on the drums.

THE most important and unique drummer in all of extreme metal. Incredible.

Just when you think he took a fill too far he some how saves it and reels it back in with a tight powerful accent. Truly inspiring and beautiful drummer.

the evolution of them selves is incredible .. im beein fan of this band like 9 or 10 years ago... and how they are transforming theyr own music... its just amazing...

I couldn't take my eyes off from this for the whole video. I find admirable how he's not simply playing an instrument, he looks like in deep meditation while just thrashing everything. This is pure devotion to music

@@IMN602 "best" is a subjective term. For me, Sean Reinert is still the best drummer and I listen to Ulcerate 10 last years.

Damn just stumbled across this and Jamie is amazingly musical. His drumming absolutely compliments the riffs rather than overshadowing it all the while being amazing technically. It’s a breath of fresh air to hear more than just blast beats and single stroke fills and just straight 16th note bass drum runs.

There is something about the way he moves on the kit that is so awe inspiring, flows like water around the kit and I’ve never seen another drummer like it. The precision is unbelievable.

Folks, not everyone (outside the metal community) will understand what I'm gonna say due to the dark and aggressive nature of Ulcerate's music. But without doubts we have witnessed in this album one of the greatest pieces of art created in the last 5 decades. This goes beyond death metal, or maybe metal itself. This is something else.

this is not really true, as much as I love Ulcerate they didn't created anything new. I found your comment a bit naive. There are a lot of avantgarde and progressive bands that sound not less interesting.

Incredible, as always. I'm so glad you captured this. There's so many good moments in this video, and one thing that jumped out as soon as I heard it is the hi-hat work at 5:02. You're phenomenal and I hope this latest album and attention propels your underrated status.

Damn, the Intro went for 5 sec and I already adored it! Superb.

No matter how regularly I revisit all of Jamie's videos, I find new things every time and they never get anything remotely close to 'old'. Stunning player. Creativity, expression, and technical ability on a completely different level. I was lucky enough to support Ulcerate on tour a couple of years ago, and watching Jamie every night for a week was a real blessing!

Visceral Ends is such a hauntingly beautiful song. Goosebumps!

Really stoked that this video popped up in my recommended. Ive never heard of you guys before this and im stoked to to check out the full catalog! I gotta say, a lot of death metal drumming has gotten stale for me over the years, but you're playing compliments the atmosphere of the songs flawlessly, and the grooves and use of effects cymbals made this genuinely enjoyable to watch! Definitely a new fan here!
