Albertsons Semi Roll Over Crash on Freeway!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Albertsons Semi Roll Over Crash on Freeway! Not often you see us use an airbag recovery system for a major rollover, but man do they come in handy. Since the trailer was compromised and not strong like a container, it was really the only option here to bring everything up loaded. The only other way is to offload the trailer, which would take hours upon hours and could ruin a lot of the perishable load of food.
Super Dave and Alex responded to this job close to 5am, and made the call to bring me in with the air bags. Normally we can upright any container and most trailers just using straps, but once the roof or an entire wall support is gone, then it's game over. Even with multiple straps, you have a very very high risk of them tearing through the roof during the upright especially with a full 40,000lb load.
Once I arrived, I saw the guys had everything rigged and setup and ready for us to immediately throw the bags under. Even with bags, it's still easy to destroy a trailer as you try to get them snug and all the way under the load. Once they were setup, Alex and Dave used the rotators with straps to lift at the same time as the bags, which distributed tension evenly across the trailer. Then, Castro used our wrecker to "spike" the front of the tractor while using a second line to gently catch it. This allows the entire tractor trailer to come over smoothly as one unit without being slammed over.
The tractor was then split from the trailer, and both units were towed separately back to the customer's base to offload. Overall a crazy difficult job made to look easy with the right equipment and operators.

Impressive technical operation executed in minimum time. What really impresses me is that the whole crew knew what they were doing and why, and they know how to do it professionally with the least amount of drama. The use of air bags to save time and cargo was perfect. That was awesome to watch. Thanks for a great video.

Alex made a great comment: I paraphase, other people would have off loaded first taking 3 or 4 hours, we can have the road cleared in the same time. It is fasinating to see how the right equipment works with the people who know how to use it. Very interesting. Great job guys and great editing Josh. Read the comments looking for someone to say he could have done it with fewer trucks etc.

  • @PepesTowingService

Those comments mean nothing to me because I know a lot of big players in the game, and all the best would use the same. It's always the haters with no channels who say that. Like sure I could have used one less truck but would it be as fast and efficient? We pride on having the fastest times to clear a scene and it's noticed by all law enforcement on scene. That's why in my videos they never hover around wondering when we'll finish they know to just post up in their car and watch the magic happen.

This is one of your VERY best video's to date. Your skill as a video creator, however, takes a backseat to the *excellence* of your crew on hand. By that I mean Dave. Everyone knew their part and did that very well but, at no point in time did anyone question Dave's direction. This is why I love watching him work. All of your crew on this job worked well together, just like the other jobs that I have watched. They are level-headed and work to make sure the work is done correctly and does not damage anything. They also treat the equipment like it is their own. Alex should be made a supervisor when he is on the job because he is calm and cool under pressure to get work completed. But when you are there Josh you do not even act like you are in charge, that is what makes PEPE's a great company. Tell your DAD hello from New Hampshire!!!! That was an impressive recovery! I have seen the air bag system used on a number of different videos. One question I have is: What is the source of the compressed air used? I imagine it must take a very high volume of compressed air, but I never see any kind of big air compressor. It seems like it would take one of those compressors like used for a jackhammer, but I never see anything. Considering the number of hoses attached to your control unit, I know the air is coming from somewhere! Saw this on the morning news, and proud of your professional work.

1:05:50 when Josh was backing to hitch the trailer, and it slid a bit to the left...that moment stressed me out...was like why did you guys unhook the Flipper without making sure it was stable enough with the truck hitched. But alas, the pros know what they are doing. Keep up the good work. Best Regards from Albania

What a mess...but in the wrong hands it could have been so much worse if the trailer failed totally. You guys are always showing how these can be safely uprighted and in one piece. Those air bags are a God send to tow companies among other industries that can utilize them. I do wonder what was the initial cause of the wreck though. Hopefully the driver wasn't hurt besides probably needing a change of shorts. Hopefully the load was able to be saved...aside from the milk that spilled. It was cool seeing your editing setup Josh...I did notice alot of what appear to be articles about you guys on the wall as well as alot of camera gear at the ready in boxes all nicely laid out. You definitely take a ton of pride in all you do which I love to see. A suggestion...in case you haven't done so prior...granted you guys are busy as heck but i would love to see a field trip to Baileys given you use their equipment a lot, I would love to see just what those various pieces do fail at during testing. They definitely make an excellent product. A great video...and yes it was a heckuva doozy for sure. Keep up the great work Josh and all of your crew...there is no I in team🙂High fives to all!!
