That 2011 Giro was an incredible display of Contador's dominance of the sport. We should keep in mind that it was taken away retroactively not because he was found to have doped during the Giro, but as part of the penalty for the positive test at the Tour over a year before. It was, at least legally speaking, a clean race for Contador but one he had to forfeit for past violations. I don't think any rider can compete with this man when he's at his best. Amazing.

I will certainly agree with you here because even Liquigas's squad wasn't strong enough to compete with them. But this time trial was also well-suited to Contador - most of his ITT stage wins are on this sort of tracks. Both he and Purito were incredible yesterday :)

Contador is an awesome champion and a kind person, the greatest climber of all time, I believe in his innocence, the final decision from the CAS is clearly unfair and severus, and for my part, I'm really disgusted. There's a lot of hypocrisy in the world of cycling. I'm sure he will be back stronger and faster than ever, he is going to destroy the vuelta a Espana's GC 2012.

Also, I've told many people that for me Contador is the real winner of that Giro and he shouldn't have been banned for microscopic clenbuterol. I haven't forgot what Alberto did on Verbier or Angliru, but I don't think I'm exaggerating. Now Enzo is simply in much better form than in that Giro, so that is my reason for writing this.

Nibali would have never resisted on the last climb towards Gardeccia dude. He was immediately dropped by Scarponi, Gadret and Contador. Well, 6 or 7 minutes, that's huge anyway. Plus, he also got beaten by 7 minutes on the Tour 2009. I'm looking forward to the Vuelta, I would bet contador for the win. If he is at his best shape, he will win without any problem, if he is not, then it might be a very close race.

@FFXIHeat Pantani was for sure very fast on climbs and he is one of the best climber of all time maybe the best! But Contador is also really fast at a steady pace, and don't forget that the fastest performance on a climb so far is from Contador, on Verbier on the tour de France 2009!

1 minute of those 7 was only by time bonuses and if on the 15th stage Contador didn't use some other riders to catch Nibali after the descent of the Passo Giau his advantage against The Shark would have never been that huge. And I don't underestimate Alba, I know that he is a brilliant rider but if Sky do the same train on the climbs even Alberto will struggle against Froome. Look at those facts, bro. All I hope is to watch a good show in the upcoming Vuelta, no matter who will win it.

Yep. If Contador had been there, it's possible Wiggins would have come third. Wiggins would not have been able to keep pace with Contador in the mountains. He would have lost more time to Contador in the mountains, than Contador lost time to him in the time trials. Since Froome climbed far better than Wiggins, Froome might have become leader of Sky, would have been allowed to ride away from Wiggins in the mountains.

Froome on TDF wasn't against such pure climbers like Alberto (Even not at this best shape..), Valverde (at 100%), or Purito. That's why he easily dominated the mountains.
