Alberta Chicken Producers - Celebrating 50 years

Who we are:
The Alberta Chicken Producers (ACP) is a farmer-run organization representing over two hundred and fifty family owned and operated farms, built on family values in Alberta. ACP’s vision is “by working together, Alberta’s chicken industry is growing, creating shared value and satisfying consumers by providing safe, high-quality chicken products.”
Our industry is growing:
- Our 250 family farms produce over 130 million kg live weight of chicken annually, with a farm gate value of over $203 million. All of this is accomplished without subsidies or taxpayer dollars.
- 69% of Alberta’s Chicken farmers are between the ages of 18 and 49. In 2013, Alberta saw 9 new entrants into the chicken industry and 13 in 2014.
- Our unique combination of youth and experience has secured our place in Alberta’s dynamic economic environment for years to come.
Key successes of the Alberta Chicken Producers:
- ACP led the way, making Alberta the first Province in Canada to have 100% of its producers certified under the national On Farm Food Safety and Animal Care Programs
- Significant funder and contributor to the Poultry Research Centre in Alberta
- Creating a market where producers and consumer families benefit
- Supporting Albertan communities, through educational events and donations

Are the chickens within your coop fed grains that have been desiccated with glyphosate? Herbicides, a known endocrine disrupter?

From my experience, the best chicken that I have eaten was Magnolia chicken from the Philippines and next is Chile chickens that were sold in Saudi Arabia. Canadian chicken farmers should change to another breed.

They all end up in a slaughterhouse. The farms are usually overcrowded and their beaks are trimmed without anasthesia. These birds HATE being close to each other so they would attack each other otherwise. Open your eyes. Watch "cowspiracy" to see what's really going on on those farms.

Show more of when they are adults in that shed and now fill the space so much that there's barely room to spread their wings. Show all the sick and injured birds and what you do with them. Friends of mine had to sneak onto farms to get footage of farmers stomping birds to death, throwing injured birds in bins to die, or throwing them into an incinerator to burn alive. These are animals being treated as property. As commodities for human use and profit. This is exploitation and it is unethical.
