Albert Hammond Jr’s fourth solo album Francis Trouble explores a deeply personal topic - the stillborn death of his twin brother, Francis, and the lingering effects that event has had in his life and music.
Lyrics:
darker side
where you no longer have a right
i fear what i'll do tonight
can't decide
does everybody feel alright
i made a mistake
to hide
my left side companion
enjoys when
we're not polite
but he leaves me stranded
when we get confronted by right
i'm not the same as i was before
i'm not the same
as i was before
there is an emptiness
that i cannot describe
what wasn't mine to take
i took in double time
out of perfection
nothing can be made
what must be broken down
is left to rearrange
you sit pretty still
as they tell you
you're fucked inside
i can't seem to think
another round of those drinks
what was your question
i can't seem to fill the blank
watch as i begin
a sentence that i can't win
i'm not the same as i was before
i'm not the same
as i was before
there is an emptiness
that i cannot describe
what wasn't mine to take
i took in double time
out of perfection
nothing can be made
what must be broken down
is left to rearrange

Same love it. One of the best albums to ever grace my ears. Surprisingly good for something modern and made by an old timer in music terms.

I just broke up with my girlfriend a few minutes ago, she just left my house, and I see a new Albert Hammond Jr in my recommendation. I was very sad but this is my third listen to this song and now I don't know why but it all feels right.

I think that Albert keeps strokes essence in his songs more than Julián
@rammstein909
3 жыл бұрын
This might be true in a sense but he is only copying Julians style, everybody doesn't know that Julian essentially wrote the first 3 classic strokes album by himself, every instrumental part and lyrics/singing
@Riotvanbum

@@rammstein909 Don't usually reply to these sort of things, but no one is "copying" anyones style. Casablancas has stepped away from the style you're referring to long ago; Albert has simply further developed his already heavily guitar-based influences and tastes into more Strokes-like aspects, sure. I would like to know where you get your information regarding the fact that Casablancas wrote the entire first three albums himself. Didn't know you were there with the Strokes in studio to tell us whether or not the rest of the guys actually brought something to Julian's attention or not. To take a page from Casablancas, maybe don't speak as an insider when you're clearly not? Quick research tells anyone that the Strokes as a whole entity actually arranged the entire 3 albums. Just because Casablancas assigned notes and sparked the majority of ideas/lyrics (orchestration) doesn't make the initial 8 years of the Strokes a one man show. Cheers

Makes you pose the question whether albert did that intentionally, to emulate julians baritone. But i doubt it....

Came across this song during my most depressing days, and it has become my painkiller
i truly believe this song is wonderful. it genuinely got me through some of the hardest recovery time of my life. I had a seizure, Easter this year, and I feel like I had traumatized my family, so I ate myself up with guilt, though they continued to tell me the truth; it wasn't anywhere near my fault, as I couldn't control it, I still fell into a depression episode, and which I listened to this melody to soothe myself and build myself back up. This is a work of art, truly.
For the low price of 1.89 you too could own a KEXP cup.
Una canción que todos deberíamos escuchar 100 veces en la vida!!

Try with daft punk
Ya dejen de comparar a Albert con Julian, los dos son buenos, el que se parezca su música es mera coincidencia, como en otros géneros, aunque Julian a estado dejando de hacerlo como en sus inicios.

818 Rock n' Roll support. I guess it's support. Luh da song doe
If you try you can actually imagine julian´s voice singin the first verse, nostalgia. Not saying he is better tho, albert has done a great job with his solo career.
Ooooooooooo he found Julian's secret formula

Was totally convinced it was Julian singing in the beginning. Kinda sad when I found out it wasn’t. I really wouldn’t mind if Julian and Albert made a side album together. But the other strokes would probably be salty lol.

Hey! We're a three piece band from El Monte, CA called The Red Pears. Albert Hammond Jr.'s music is a big influence of ours as well as The Strokes. We would really appreciate it if you guys could take the time to check our stuff out. Thanks!

Is it just me or does it seem like there should have been a pay off in the chorus. I was hyped when the lyrics "I lack perfection" came but the rhythm stayed the same afterwords, not satisfying the build up
