Best there ever was.. and it's always good to keep in mind all those cool licks everybody plays today came from old Albert. I'm 58 years old now, played since I was 8 and I hear a lot of people rippin it up on the keys, maybe faster, maybe more technical.. but just listen to that timing, rhythm just plain ole style. R.I.P. to the baddest of them all.

Great to see piano making a revival. I remember when every house had a piano. Then some fool came up with the idea of piano smashing competitions. It was very sad indeed. Lots of happy days on the piano. If nothing else, everyone who visited could play at least chopsticks Ha Ha ! Ah well, back to practicing!

There are many types of music that is played by piano. But when it comes to hearing Boogie Woogie played by the masters of old, you wish that these masters were around today. Where can you go to hear this type of music where your whole body wants to move.

My parents used to go see Albert and Pete at Lindy's Skyline Lodge in Cleveland when I was a baby! My Mom would put me in the playpen, and I would scream "Usmic! Usmic!" until she put on a stack of Boogie Woogie! Only way to shut me up!

(vergleiche: originalaufnahme.)

i don't think you get it. you transcribe something, learn it, take want you want and take ideas and practice them in different ways. you don't play somebody' s note for note every time you play that tune in public. But every good jazz musician transcribes solos and even memorizes some with the intention of getting inside that player's style.
