I have lived here in Alaska the past 43 years, worked in the AK visitor industry almost that long, you folks coming on a cruise to Alaska in October are not even seeing Alaska! Summer is gone by mid, late September, most whsles have headed south, salmon season is done, weather is turning, etc… also, seeing Alaska by a huge cruise ship is barely seeing, “real Alaska “! Just saying!😳🤪😉

Well done, Tyler, well done! I know you did this cruise in May 2019 (pre-pandemic), and I am just now watching it in August 2023 because hubby & I are heading on our own Alaskan Cruise in just over a week. I want to absorb as much information as I can before then. We are celebrating my 70th birthday and this cruise has been on my bucket list for quite some time. My darling hubby said now is the time, so this is my gift from him. Thanks again Tyler for your amazing visual journal of your (& Jessica's) grand adventure into the beauty of Alaska.

This is THE best video overview out there. I’ve watched quite a few in preparation for our first Alaska cruise. We did an impromptu cruise late Sep2021 but few things were offered. It gave us time to enjoy the town culture and hardly any people. Bonus. Since we we are going back again in the Aug2022 (post chaos), we are preparing for the excursions that will be offered this time around. 👍

I've never been on a cruise ship to Alaska but I have taken a ride on a 44-foot purse seine boat from Friday Harbor on San Juan Island up through the Inside Passage to Ketchikan to Seward and went to all those interesting places cruise ships go to plus many more and I've done it several times, I was on a 65-foot fish buyer south of Seattle to Bellingham all as a college kid form the age of 17 to 24. It is beautiful coastal state but it rains a lot. Some 50 miles N.E. of Sitka at Little Port Walters we read in the "Coast Pilot" that the annual rainfall was 212 inches.

A comment on your fun fact about a lot of the southern cities and towns being landlocked . I am a photographer who used to live in Juneau. When I moved to the interior (near Fairbanks) I had to take a 4 hour ferry to Haines to be able to drive the remainder of the trip. Then from there I had to do a 12 hour drive, taking me out of Alaska, into Canada, and then back into Alaska. After all that, I had only made it to Delta Junction.

    1. Hi! How far is the Seattle airport from the port? Like how much did you pay for Uber, if you don’t mind please? 2. Also do you have any budget hotel recommendations? They are all so expensive and costs about $70 for transport to port. 3. What about the weather when we travel to Alaska in June? 4. Also…excursions are so expensive. When we get to a port, do they have local ones we can go on that are not as expensive as booking one with the ship? Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thank you.! Very excited about this cruise. And thanks for posting this video!

I've lived in Juneau for 28 years. Your video is above average, but I was confused by the out of sequence road trip out to the Mendenhall Glacier. I figured out where it was in each case, but it was not in the proper sequence. Also the folks in Fairbanks, Alaska's second largest city might have been offended by some of your "facts". Thank you for an entertaining video though, none the less.
